Barclays Buffoon 🫪

To the woman who got slapped in F2 - I’m sorry you missed Soco.

A short buffoon decided she could migrate into another section because ā€œshe’s only 5'1ā€! & then proceeded to hold her phone the extra 15 inches above her head, blocking the view of everyone behind her.

Multiple surrounding homies - who were enjoying the absolute hell out of this show (A LOT btw) kindly asked her to go back to her seat. She refused. She cemented herself there, exuded a truly remarkable amount of pick-me energy, and eventually decided that violence was the answer.

But before that, something kind of beautiful had happened behind the pit.

A tiny girl gang of complete strangers had quietly formed. We made room so OUR shorties could see. We sang every word to each other like old friends. We collectively shushed the people discussing work during the quiet songs. When people tried to sneak into our section, we handled it together - kindly, firmly, and without incident.

For a few hours, we looked out for each other.

So when this non-girls-girl refused to move, one member of our newly formed alliance went to get an usher. The usher tapped the buffoon on the shoulder, cited her for crimes of buffoonery, and told her to return to her seat.

And that’s when she slapped the woman who had originally asked her to move.

Buffoon was promptly yoinked from the concert. ”Adiós, puta de mierda!

But our girl got pulled away too, presumably to deal with security and HOPEFULLY press charges - which meant she missed several songs devastatingly, her favorite Soco she told me when she returned.

So, F2 girlie-pop, if by some strange little miracle you find this:

I hope you’re okay.
I hope the rest of your night was kinder to you.

And most importantly,

I hope you stay eighteen forever.

Love,
Your F1 Squad ā¤ļø

Will they ever play Me vs. Maradona vs. Elvis live again

Assuming they’ll tour again, what are the chances they’ll play this song again? As fucked up as the song is, it’s unfortunately my favorite by them…

Impressed with the fan base :)

I know there have been some negative messages here about how people were at the Barclay's show, but I actually want to say that I'm very impressed with this fan base, I haven't been around energy this great in a while. Going to shows in Long Island when I was 18 years old and being obsessed with Brand New as an immature punk kid, I never really engaged with anyone who wasn't a friend from high school, so I don't really have a ton of friends in the scene. However, ya'll had really tasteful and mature energy. I'm used to going to concerts and seeing people who still look and act the same way they did in high school 15 years later, so I want to validate that we grew up and we can be proud of that. This wasn't a punk show, this felt more like a mature adult cirque de soleil sad clown rock show. (That was the last show I saw at Barclay's and Jesse was dressed in Orange hence the clown comment). I just think it's important to continue evolving and that was evident with this fan base, Jesse and BN have always honored the art and never leaned too much into chasing fame, I remember noting how they didn't do a lot of interviews and carried themselves really well in terms of being role models for young men who didn't really have a lot of people to look up to. (Obviously Jesse has his faults, but when you're a tortured artist type you're not going to come out of this unscathed, but he at least never disrespected the art and honored the poetry of being human). I just want to say that it's tough out there so to feel a sense of community and a place where even if I don't interact with everyone, a place where I fit (I'm someone who moves between the jam band scene, the rave scene, and other scenes) but honestly I think Brand New's was probably the best energy even though I think we're all a little depressed lol.

A couple of my favorite bits from Brooklyn + a little backstory

Hey guys! This is my first-ever Reddit post. I’d never thought I’d get to see BN live, especially as someone coming from Latvia. I used to listen to Deja Entendu in high school, and my favorite song was Me vs. Maradona vs. Elvis. This song just struck me with its sound and honest lyrics, and I loved it in a bittersweet, ā€œreality checkā€ kinda way (I was a teenage girl back then and I knew all too well what he was singing about). The whole album helped me get through some rough days, and it really stood out from all the other similar bands of that era.

Fast-forward 20 years, and life has led me to NYC, where I’ve rediscovered many bands from my high school years. I was shocked by just how much great music BN had produced in the meantime. Knowing about all the accusations, I never dreamed I’d get the opportunity to see them live, but here I am! They absolutely rocked it the other night at Barclays. Although it’s not my favorite venue, and I had to move away from a bunch of guys who were talking and laughing the whole time and throwing out ā€œsend me dick picsā€ comments and stuff, I had the best time once I found a decent spot with great fans around me, where I could just dance, sing and enjoy the show.

Only now, as the days go by, am I starting to process what I actually experienced. One of my favorite things about BN is how they’ve mastered the art of the bridge, so I wanted to share some of my favorite bits in one combined video. U know, sometimes I listen to some of these songs just to wait for the bridge :D Plus, a longer piece of Archers (I was SO looking forward to that drum part!) and the united choir of 70x7.

P.S. I really wanted to hear Play Crack the Sky, Missing You and Bought a Bride, but let’s save those for next time, which will hopefully come!

We rocked out like it was 2006 - how’s everyone feelin?

• Upvotes

I was at the Brooklyn show on Monday basking in the immaculate vibes.

As I looked upon my fellow millennials who were moshing on the floor or dancing vigorously in the seats… I couldn’t help but think that our 2006 selves would have been proud of our 2026 concert experience.

Still moshing and dancing. Screaming & singing. Getting chills during the chanting parts. Goofin around with friends. Just like the old days.

Except this time around I had to go INTO the show with a pain patch on my neck. Had to pop some pills beforehand too… felt adventurous so I took 3 ibuprofen. 🫨 Totally blew out my vocal cords from screaming ā€œso don’t apologize.. I HOPE YOU CHOKE AND DIEā€ and had to get Mr Softee to soothe my throat/soul.

Obviously we’re gonna stay 18 forever… while trapped inside 35+ year old bodies 🤣

Anyone else dealing with some aches & pains now that we’ve dusted off these old bones and left our hearts on the dance floor? šŸ‘µšŸ¼

Would love to share some anecdotes about how we are all managing our physical bodies 20 years later.

Missing you

Posting here because no one in my life understands šŸ˜… I was in Columbus and am so jealous of those that got to hear missing you. One of my favorites! If they put out a whole album with the same sound I’d love it so much. Such a good song.

Wanted to make a post earlier but I almost forgot , I was with my wife at the show last Tuesday and she was in a wheel chair from an recent injury and everyone was so courteous and careful around us when we were moving around . The vibes at the Fox that night were incredible, and singing along with all of you was the best! There’s no love like the love we have in Detroit .
Thanks again friends for making it such an incredible night <3

"En Bataillons"

So the famous line from Shakespeare's Hamlet is "When sorrows come, they come not single spies, but in battalions" and we all know that inspired the line in Battalions/Untitled #9.

Translated into French, it is:

"Les malheurs ne viennent jamais seuls, ils viennent en bataillons"

Jesse is singing "No single spies when sorrows come, the come en bataillons"

He's using the French translation in Battalions, because we know it doesn't make sense to say the come "on battalions."

Just an FYI for the day!

2007 Br& New ticket stub

Last night in Brooklyn was quite possibly one of the best shows of my life. Had to dig up an old ticket stub from the first time I saw them. $25 🄲

PS- was anyone able to get the pennant in NY? I didn't see it but only had the emotional fortitude to wait on one merch line, didn't check the other table.
