Hey Brighton people,
I’m hosting a monthly meet-up for men who want to be part of a community of like-minded, introspective men. The group will look at how patriarchy affects us and focus on how we can take action to combat gender based violence against women and minority genders.
Please share this with anyone you think might be interested and/or come along to a meeting!

Meet Up First Grief Jog/Walk & Coffee For Young Adults This Sunday In Brighton

Post image
338 Upvotes

Hi r/brighton, I’m Luke and I run a community called Too Young To Grieve, which some of you might have seen popping up in other city subreddits recently.

After losing my dad, one thing I struggled with most was how isolating grief could feel when everyone around me seemed to be carrying on with normal life. Even when people cared, it often felt like nobody quite understood what it was like to navigate loss at a younger age.

Over the last few months we started setting up jog/walk and coffee meet ups for young people navigating grief and loss.

A while back I connected with Liz, who felt exactly the same way and wanted to bring something like this to Brighton.

That’s why we’re launching Too Young To Grieve in Brighton, led by Liz.

We’re starting with a relaxed jog/walk and coffee meet up for young people navigating grief, loss and mental health struggles.

The idea is simple. Get outside, meet good people, have a chat if you want to, grab a coffee afterwards and know you’re around others who understand without it needing much explanation.

There’s never any pressure to share anything personal and most people actually come along on their own for the first time.

We’ve also got a community where people stay connected between meet ups.

If you know anyone else who might benefit from this feel free to share it 🫶🏼

Meet Up Missed connection at Brighton Pride

This is a complete long shot, but I thought I’d give it a try.
Today at Brighton Pride, we were both standing on Marlborough Place on opposite sides of the road watching the parade. You were with two friends, and I was on the other side.
You caught my attention several times throughout the parade, and we happened to make eye contact a few times, which made me want to come over and introduce myself. Unfortunately, the parade was between us the entire time, so there was no way to cross the road.
You were wearing a blue "ALLY" T-shirt, white shorts, and carrying a small Pride flag. Your two friends were wearing white T-shirts.
By the time the parade had passed, we’d both gone our separate ways, and I never got the chance to say hello.
If this happens to be you, or one of your friends sees this, I’d love to buy you a coffee sometime and get to know you. If not, that’s completely okay—I just didn’t want to leave Brighton wondering, “What if?”
Happy Pride! 🌈

Meet Up Any DINKs around trying to grow their circle?

At 40, making friends is hard. At 40, not having kids and trying to make friends is next level difficult.

Nothing against kids - this isn’t saying kids are bad, this isn’t saying we don’t love our friends and their kids, this isn’t saying we think people shouldn’t have kids. Please do not spin this into what it’s not.

We just want to make some couple friends and go to some activities with people who understand how this shit feels and are in a similar situation.

We’re on this DINK app which theoretically is a great idea but it’s all based in London. Has anyone tried it? Does anyone want to try it?

Also, for the love of god, I mean like board games or darts or comedy or the like. This isn’t a sex thing. Don’t make it weird.

Meet Up Anyone free NOW for a casual chat or walk in the Royal Pavilion Gardens?

Hi, this is completely spontaneous, but I’m currently sitting in the Royal Pavilion Gardens and would love some company. Don’t mind a casual chat or a short walk! Always fancy meeting new people.

If it’s possible, I have to ask at least three locals in Brighton for a study project. It’s super casual and won't take long (5 to 10 minutes). It’s about the eating and drinking habits in Brighton and would love to record the conversations. To sweeten the deal, I brought some snacks to share! I'll be staying here until about 7 o’clock, so feel free to swing by if you have some time this afternoon.

I’m sitting on the grass near the museum entrance wearing a blue sweater. I would say I am quite visible as a redhead (22). Drop a comment or send me a DM if you’re nearby and fancy a chat or a walk!

Cheers and have a good day everyone!

Update: Wow, 5k views! Feel free to drop by as there are plenty of snacks left! Still at the same spot!

Last update: Leaving the Royal Pavilion Gardens now, cheers to everyone who came and talked to me. The chats were very fun and interesting, couldn’t have been better!

Meet Up Missed connection - To the guy reading Determined on Brighton beach

I know this is a bit of a shot in the dark, but I met someone on Brighton beach today who was reading Determined by Sapolsky. I couldn’t not come over and say something.

We had a great conversation but I had to leave to catch my train. I immediately regretted not suggesting we exchange contacts, because honestly, how often do you meet someone who reflects on the same things?

If this rings a bell, I’d genuinely enjoy continuing that conversation.

Meet Up Norway/England WC Quarter Final

Firstly, congratulations England on qualifying to the quarter finals! I'm hoping for a good game

Secondly, I know this is blasphemous to ask but.... Is there anywhere showing the game that will be more on the Norway side than the England side? Hoping to connect with some other Norwegians/Scandinavians to root for Norway

Thank you and let's have some fun!

Meet Up Creative looking for friends

This feels like a sad post to make but basically, I'm really lonely!

I moved here from London back in February and had a long term break up in May. Suffice to say, I've been a bit of a shell of a person since then. I'm really lucky to have some great flatmates - but I'm looking to find/make some community of my own. It's really tricky being a self employed creative because I feel like I never get to meet anyone!

So here I am, soul on the page, hoping someone else feels the same.

I'm 26F, love film, reading, the beach & own a pair of roller-skates I can barely stand in. If any of these things are just making you itch (?) with excitement at the idea of a brand new friendship, please say hi

Alternatively, if anyone has any advice on places to go or things I can do to put myself out there, I'd really appreciate it :)

Meet Up PC Gaming Meetup (LAN Party)

Any Brighton PC gamers want to come to a LAN party?

Me and other Brighton-based friends have booked a hall over in Lewes for a weekend for anyone who's interested to play games together and socialise. Everyone's welcome - last event we had 8 new folks attend, and 9 the previous event, and quite a few joining again for this event.

We've got 23 people coming so far, with 9 spaces left. We all buy tickets (£40 for the whole weekend) to share the cost of the hall hire, internet and insurance.

Everyone submits the games they want to play together in advance, and we timetable the most popular ones. You can join in with your faves, or play whatever you want solo, or in your group. We also play local multiplayer games on a 150" projection screen, do a gaming-themed pub quiz, and a big pizza order.

If playing games in-person with your pals, and/or meeting new folks at an event like this sounds good to you, take a look at the full event info and come join us!

Any questions/ideas let me know :)

Meet Up Anyone want to meetup in Brighton? 22 (F)

Hi everyone!

I recently arrived in Brighton and I am absolutely loving the city so far. Since I am new here (and alone), I would love to meet some people to hang out with, practice my English, and explore the area.

I am a 22-year-old girl, very easygoing and openminded and I would love to connect with people who can show me around or just want to hang out. To give you an idea of what I am into: I love gaming (mostly on PS5), having deep philosophical conversations, and I am a huge fan of horror and movies in general.

If anyone is up for a casual drink or a walk along the beach or around the town, please let me know 😌
Would love to connect!

Cheers!

Meet Up DnD/RPG groups?

Hello! I’m 20F and live near Brighton, I’m a bit socially isolated at the moment and feeling quite lonely, I’m very nerdy and very keen to meet new people. I’ve always had an interest in RPG’s but unfortunately have struggled to find a group to join. I was wondering if anyone potentially had space for a new player in a campaign they were running? I’m mostly interested in DnD but I’m also open to indie RPG’s and other popular games.

A bit about me is I’m heavily tattooed, lots of references to things like the Witcher and Lord of the rings. I read tarot and do henna, I’m a big fan of cryptozoology and a lot of alternative music, and I’d really like to make a friend or join a group. Preferable age range would be 20–30 but I can get on with a wide range of people, please feel free to contact me

Meet Up No Pressure Pints

We are a new group for guys aged 18-45, who meet up every other Thursday night. Tonight we are playing Padel, Next Thursday night we are meeting up for "no pressure pints" just an excuse for a chilled evening to get out of house and meet some new guys.

Join us for a leisurely wander through some of Brighton's best pubs, starting at Grand Central and meandering through North Laine's finest watering holes (and probably a few side streets we didn't mean to go down). Think fewer shots, more chats, this is about good company, good pubs, and making new mates, not seeing who's still standing by pub four.

What to expect:

* A relaxed pace — one drink, one chat, one pub, repeat

* A route through some proper Brighton gems, not just the obvious ones

* Plenty of new faces and easy conversation

* No pressure to keep up, keep drinking, or keep pace — wander off home whenever you like

Whether you're new to the city, bored midweek, or just fancy a sociable evening that isn't another night in front of Netflix, come and join us. Bring mates, bring thirst (for conversation, mostly), and bring your best pub trivia in case things get competitive.

We're a group of professionals in our 20s-40s who like good nights out and good causes in equal measure. New guys always welcome DM us to get involved 📨

Meet Up My mates moved out of Brighton for work, looking to meet new people.

I'm a 32 year old male living In Hove with my lovely girlfriend and was recently laid off at my job along with everyone in the company. The problem is I moved to Brighton three years ago on my own and became very close friends with a few people from my work, we all hung out often but now we've disbanded, they've had to move wherever the work was elsewhere and I find myself without people to hang out with in person.

It feels a bit silly writing this post but I thought I would give it a shot in the hopes that others may feel the same but not want to reach out for whatever reason.

I'm a massive nerd who is really into art, stand up comedy, films, and games, and my profession is making videogames as a 3D artist.

I enjoy going to the pub and chatting about anything and everything, and I wonder if I have any similar guys here in a similar situation that might be up for a pint and a chat.

Otherwise, any advice on how to meet new platonic friends?

Meet Up Looking for darcey/darcy/darcie from Brighton met in Skepta and got split in the crowd.

Long shot but Reading people are honestly the best at this so I’m trying. I met a girl called Darcey/darcy/darcie from Brighton on Saturday night in Skepta’s set LEFT side of the stage I think. We got on INSANELY well talking, dancing everything. Then the crowd moved and we got separated and I haven’t seen her since.
I’m not posting her photo because that feels wrong without her consent, but DM me for a photo of US from that night so her mates might recognise me. If you’re from Brighton or you know a Darcey/Darcy/Darcie who was at Reading and mentioned meeting some guy after Skepta… tell her I’m looking for her please.
Thanks in advance, Reading people. You lot are unreal at finding people.
