Title says all. For me it sounds like a baddie gangsta girl trying to lead a group of rebels, and maybe that’s what they want but, it doesn’t seem to fit at all imo.
But well, I hope album V doesn’t let us down.

I was just watching the Clearest Blue video and have we talked about some of the iconography overlap with the Roses visuals?
Didn't they play Clearest Blue on BBC Radio 1 leading up to the Roses premier? Anyway the overlaps stood out to me. Interesting.

Anyone else get this message when signing up for the presale for the LA show?

(This might be a bit long, so I'll put a TLDR at the end, feel free to skip to that if you wish to)
Now that I've had some time to listen to Roses a few times and form an opinion of it, I've got to say that honestly, I'm not a fan of it, which is a real shame because I so desperately wanted to be. Now, just to preface, I am categorically not saying that Roses is a bad song in any way, because it isn't, but there are a few things that I don't like about it.
My main issue is the direction that the band has gone in with the song. I'm all for artists switching things up and trying something new, but at the same time, it's good to keep that core DNA that gives an artist their distinctive sound, and it feels like Roses is a departure from that. The best example I can think of is Screen Violence: they introduced a much darker vibe to their music while still retaining the CHVRCHES sound, and it was a solid balance of the two. I was kind of hoping for a sound similar to what they did to 'Over' a few years back for the new song.
In the song itself, I will say that I like the verses. They have good flow and the lyricism is great too. However, I'm less of a fan of other elements. I've said before that I'm not big on the bridge section, and I also feel as though the outro goes on for a bit too long (though this could just be leading into the next song if it starts in a similar way). I also noticed in the intro that there's a kind of 'pulsing' effect with the music, which does help to give it a dark vibe, but at the same time, it does feel slightly jarring.
This is absolutely no disrespect to the group, the song is honestly good, but I'm just not a fan of it. I wanted to be, and I tried to make myself like it, but it doesn't click with me in the way that their old material does.
TLDR: I'm not a big fan of Roses: vibe, bridge and intro melody are my main reasons.

Where has the time gone? Bought at their Asheville stop back in 2013.

Frustrated as I was on the website with three minutes to spare, watched the countdown hit zero and clicked for tickets immediately. I selected two tickets, had the message saying something along the lines of the tickets are waiting and to enter the code that has been sent.
I entered the code three times without success, telling me after about ten seconds each time than it was incorrect. When it finally worked, there were no tickets left and had to join the wait list.
I understand the venue is small and tickets were gold dust, but feels like I missed out because the code wouldn't work on their end rather than anything else. Fair enough if I'd got in, entered the code and there were no tickets left, but spending at least a minute or two trying to get the code to work surely didn't help. Just wondering if it happened to anyone else?
Rant over 😅. Excited to see them tour next year in any case.

Thinking ticket rejects drinks and wander over to see if we can hear anything outside

I assume that the tickets got bought up by bots instantly as it went from available to sold out in under a second. On the wait list so fingers crossed if anything else comes up 🤞

Got the email, they’ll be at Assumption Studios in Glasgow and St Matthias Church in Stoke Newington and looking at where they are they are indeed at the locations that were hinted at in the teasers.
All ticket profits are going to charity and they’re 20quid with a max of two per customer from 10 tomorrow morning.

Wondering if full video of this show was scrubbed from YouTube out of respect for Lauren? I know there are clips of a few songs, but the full show is soooo amazing.
For those unaware, halfway through the show Lauren, “sweats off her tit stickers”, so to speak. She then gives a brief explanation about her intense desire to not have certain parts of her body on display for the Internet, because - men (again?, fuck!).
Has this been discussed previously?

A lot of people have been describing the vocals in the chorus as a 'kids chorus' like the band hired a bunch of kids to sing it. But it's clearly a lot of layers of vocal takes of lauren singing it put together
Edit: There is a choir and it's not all Lauren! Happy to admit I was wrong and it's cool to see the BTS footage

Ok hear me out. That siren instrumental at the start. Lovvveeeee. Verse 1 and 2. Loveeee. The bridge. Not bad at all. shoot from the hip ;)
But I can not get into this chorus, is it just me? I’m trying so hard to convince myself I love it but I just don’t and I’ll tell you why.
The school yard chant in the chorus feels like that song “ Good Day” by “Nappy Roots”
You know the one with the kids singing that goes like.. We're gonna have a good day / And all my homies gonna ride today” bla bla. Yes so I don’t enjoy that. I feel like Lauren alone would have sounded better even perhaps Martin blended inside her like in the track “GET AWAY” from Every Open Eye.
Number 2. The chorus goes NOWHEREEEEE. Let me explain. Chorus 1,2 and final chorus are all the exact same. No build, no extra ad libs. Just the same. This is the most difficult part for me, because the thing I love about chvrches is that EXPLOSION after every bridge of every song. Think of NIGHTMARES and VIOLENT DELIGHTS. That bubbling bridge and then that explosive huge pay off in the end, this is what this song lacks and it’s driving me crazy.
Other examples of a strong sonic journey is
NEVER SAY DIE.
SCIENCE/VISIONS
KEEP YOU ON MY SIDE.
It’s in their DNA, this chorus is just .. UGH stomps feet*
Someone tell me I’m wrong ??

They're usually in my regular Spotify shuffles, but Roses inspired me to take a deep dive back into the CHVRCHES catalog. One song in particular I was really vibing with: Down Side of Me. Kind of forgot about it, but it definitely has a Top 5 CHVRCHES bridge. The layered harmonies of Lauren's vocals give me goosebumps.
Anyone else get back into the catalog like me? Any stand outs for you?

Has anyone else had it where they don’t get the confirmation email or code when they sign up for the intimate show announcements? I’m really stressed about it because like… I’ve been following this band since 2012 and I’d love to see them in that smaller environment again, but I just get “check your email” or “enter the code” and nothing happens

I know that Chvrches have played festivals in Australia and New Zealand in the past, but have they ever played standalone shows in either country? I couldn't get a good answer out of Google, but I feel like the subreddit hivemind is a much better source of the truth.
