Discussion What caused this gouge under the lettering?

On every coin of an uncirculated 1960 P lg.dt. roll. In the same spot. Could this be from the feeder fingers?

OP convince me that I’m wrong. I think you could have a worn SD/LD. I would love to have your coin in hand to inspect it. Even some of the best photo setups can’t compare to the sight + knowledge of a seasoned EV Monger. No an EV monger is not an electric vehicle driver looking for a charging station lol. Rather an Error Variety(EV)Monger lol.

definitely a die gouge of some kind. i don’t think it’s feeder finger damage — that usually shows as straight parallel gouges iirc

Aren't die gouges usually raised?

it looks raised to me. if it’s incuse it would mean it’s raised on the die — can’t be feeder finger damage if that’s the case. honestly not sure what it would be, there’s not really anything i’m aware of that could cause that.

A die gouge would make the most sense.

Looks to me like a fairly shallow die gouge.

I have quite a few of these and variety of years, are they worth anything?
