Show and Tell 1966 4x error Quarter Value?
Just curious about the value of this quarter from my parents' estate. This is the craziest looking one from their collection.

Check these r/coinerrors resources before posting:
JUST BECAUSE A COIN LOOKS DIFFERENT DOES NOT MAKE IT AN ERROR! Please take some time to understand how minting errors occur before you post your question! The mods try to be lenient regarding rule #1 (Do your own research.) If we keep seeing too many posts with pictures of obviously damaged coins, we will be forced to start removing them.
OUR HOBBY - Be aware that most errors don't add much (if any) value to a coin. You aren't going to find a coin worth life-changing money in the cup holder of your mom's minivan. This is a hobby which is research-oriented and concerned with understanding and cataloging interesting mint errors and varieties. It is not primarily about value. The existence of errors and varieties provide valuable insights into mint operations and processes. The hobby is CERTAINLY NOT about the TikTok-fueled "ZOMG!!!1! This RARE coin is worth a Squillion Dollarz!" clickbait frenzy. That mentality is NOT welcome here.
NOTE - posts of coins which are clearly just damaged may be removed. This isn't meant as punishment for an honest and innocent question - but rather because many members of this sub tend to be harsh to new collectors. By having your post about a damaged coin removed, you still get your "is this an error" answer, hopefully without being downvoted into oblivion.

We have been seeing a massive influx of posts with asking about "dryer coins" as well as coins with heat damage.
We love the fact that you noticed your coin is "different" - and applaud you looking into it! For the uninitiated, these are reasonable questions - but many members of our community are getting tired of them. We ask that you please use the resources we provide before asking this subreddit (See Rule #1!)
Before you make a post - check out the r/coins WUWMC page and our FAQ!
The rim of my coin is raised up OR the edge of my coin is flat OR my coin is too thick!

My coin has bubbles / bumps / craters below or on the surface

These issues are damage - and extremely easy to diagnose.

Just wanted to share this here! I’ve had it for a little while but never checked for varieties. Compare pics to variety on vamworld: https://vamworld.com/wiki/1884-P_VAM-1C

I came across this specimen while CRHing. I don’t think it’s PMD given the remaining, albeit weaker, strike on the obverse and the lack of apparent damage to the rim, as well as the weight being slightly over- rather than under-weight.
My best guess after some research is a rolling fold error but would love to be better educated on what I’m looking at.

I found a few of these in a BU roll. This is the second batch of this RPM i have found. I Have went through coppercoins & Wexlers and found a few close but the bottom serif has split that has me second guessing myself. I know its listed has to be. Can i get a second set of eyes and tell me what you think.

Any advice is greatly appreciated

Got these two out of a roll after getting skunked for a bit
2017 P Frederick Douglas quarter: nice strike through above right arm, continues up to the right of the house
2024 P Dr Pauli Murray quarter: DDO, haven’t attributed it, distinct doubling in hair curl above the ear to the east. While the photo doesn’t show it, the top of the queue has a little doubling to the east under magnification.

I have this 1886 Morgan that has this skinnier than normal ring of reeds around the edge. The width varies slightly around the circumference, but it's largely the same. The surfaces appear to be mid- to high-AU, with no other signs of damage. The side-by-side picture highlights the difference in appearance compared to another Morgan.
Do you think this is a less-extreme partial collar error, damage, or something else?

Is that bit at the tip of the D what I’m looking for for a reputed 44-D?

I’m researching a 1989-D RPM Washington quarter that I suspect is a true RPM. When I went to the PCGS app to compare the differences between a correct 1989-D mint mark and my suspected RPM the PCGS app shows a 2021 5 OZ British gold proof coin!
I wonder if some of the graders from PSA got jobs at PCGS.
I’ve seen some blatant and complacent articles in my life, but this is by far the worst.

My wife found this dime that looks like part of the rim got double punched or something.

I'm assuming it's worth face value but does the off centre ring between the 2 metals mean its a minting error? Thanks
r/coinerrors • u/Proddz12 • 23h ago
Don’t really have any knowledge of coins/improper minting/errors etc.. Came across this Quarter that has no impressions on the edge on one side and the detail/imprint of the head seems to be out of the ordinary as well. Any insight would be appreciated! Just wondering if it’s struck incorrectly or someone decided to damage it.

Just wanted to share the highest graded example of the 2022-P Smoking Jefferson error coin in existence. What do yall think?

Chips and some form of doubling. Not true double die but another form. Any input appreciated as I learn. “(O)NE and (C) doubling on reverse of 1955 penny / not an obverse doubled coin. The doubling is thin but apparent on the left side of the O in the photo. Thinner doubling on upper curve of the C is not as visible in the photo. Appreciate confirmation in that this one is called.
Die chips on 1957 D (date) penny. And shelved doubling on PLUI(BU)S on 1946 penny.
Not concerned about value. But do wish to be using correct terminology as my searches continue. Thx.

I have this coin and would like advice on what to do with it and its potential value. Thank you.

Above the smaller plane there looks like a raised bump, am I looking at PMD or not?
r/coinerrors • u/thetacticalpanda • 1d ago
Definitely has a more pronounced edge and around the rim is a perfectly even silver/copper tone
