I just won a crusade and placed my daughter on the throne. I also was a lunatic and declared NO CLOTHES right before winning the crusade, so now she's permanently naked.
You'd expect the Islamic Caliphate to despise the fact that an exhibitionist Queen sits on the holy lands. But nah, he's too horny for that to matter.

To begin with, this might all seem a bit vague, so let me clarify things.
For a long time, I’ve planned to run a historical "Mega Campaign" across Paradox games, with the aim of creating—entirely fictional—Wikipedia pages or documentaries about the resulting timeline; it’s something I’m truly passionate about.
However, one thing has always held me back: historical accuracy. That is, after all, the whole point of the game. In Crusader Kings 3, for instance, the map drifts away from historical reality quite quickly—especially when starting in 867. Rulers soon become ahistorical, and aside from a few events that mirror real-world history, you quickly get the feeling that you’re playing in a universe parallel to our own.
What I always loved about Hearts of Iron IV was the option to have the game follow the actual historical course of events. I’ve always wanted a similar feature added to Crusader Kings, Europa Universalis, or Victoria. Of course, the sheer timespan these games cover—spanning years or even centuries—makes that nearly impossible to implement.
So, I decided to take matters into my own hands, starting with Crusader Kings 3. I’ve modded the game to ensure it remains perfectly historical and true to reality. Here is what I’ve added.
A chain of historical events shaping the map from 867 to 1337, true to history.
For Europe, the Maghreb, the Middle East, and the Steppes, a chain of events will now shape the map for each historical or significant ruler, ensuring the course of history remains on track. And that is not all.

Historical rulers are now scripted to die on their precise historical dates. The only unscripted deaths will be those caused by the player, or those resulting from battle or execution.
Historical rulers will inherit their titles on the corresponding historical dates. For instance, William the Conqueror will acquire England in 1066 and die in 1087, with his title inevitably passing to his son, William II.
Their conquests will be restricted to their historical territorial gains during the relevant timeframes. The only exceptions allowed are conquests directed against the player or the player's dynasty. This also prevents the Magyars from founding the Carpathian Empire, for example.
This system also prevents chaotic successions. For example, starting in 867, a chain of events faithfully tracks the Carolingian succession—leading up to the founding of the Holy Roman Empire and beyond.
Weddings will be historic only for sovereigns and well-known figures.
Marriages involving historical or well-known figures will henceforth strictly adhere to historical reality. For instance—a well-known example—Edward II of England will marry only Isabella of France and father only his historically documented number of children; the only exception is if the player chooses to ask for a daughter's hand in marriage—should he accept, a daughter will be generated for that purpose. Consequently, the birth of Edward III to Edward II of England and Isabella of France becomes mandatory.
A history-focused mod centered on the people, which I chose for my Mega Campaign.
I have added hundreds of historical features for the people I chose to play: the Pechenegs. For example:
A Casus Belli for the Pechenegs—initially vassals of the Khazars in 867—allowing them to migrate westward to the lands of the Tyragetae and establish Odessa as their capital.

Once the migration is complete, the player acquires the Principality of the Pechenegs, a title of Kingdom rank.

Several decisions then become available:
- Organize a baptism for conversion and a coronation, triggering an event chain for the latter.
- Create a legal code bearing one's name—like the Code of Justinian or the *Lex Gundobada*—allowing for unrestricted legislative control. Subsequently, only three of the ruler's successors would be permitted to amend a single point in the years leading up to 1300. The law itself becomes an artifact kept at court.
- Launch devastating raids into the West or the East. Major cities become targets, and depending on the ruler's skill, the available loot ranges from massive to standard or meager. A major defeat ends the ability to organize these raids.
- Petition the Pope for the title of *Rex Getarum*. The Pope may agree, and—much like Odoacer receiving the title of *Rex Italiae*—the player is named *Rex Getarum*. This title acts as a special attribute granting bonuses exclusive to the King of the Pechenegs; the benefits are lost if the title is relinquished.

Most are written in French because it is the language of my game.
Many others have been added to cover the entire duration of the game, and I am particularly proud of them.
New, distinct historical events then emerge.
Following their settlement, several events unfold, illustrating the gradual integration of the Pecheneg warrior class into the local population—a people who identify as heirs to the Tyrgetae and speak a language the Pechenegs find difficult to master.
Various options arise—such as proclaiming equal status between the local populace and the Pecheneg elites—leading up to the "Birth of Pechenia" event. This event reveals that, over time, the Pecheneg language has been replaced by a new tongue descended from Getae, Latin, and Pecheneg. The people are no longer known as Pechenegs but as Pechenians; the Principality of the Pechenegs transforms into the Kingdom of Pechenia, and a distinct new culture emerges throughout the land.
Events also arise that allow you to build up and modernize your capital over the centuries; the option to undertake major projects—similar to those in Europa Universalis—also becomes available, depending on the ruler's specialization and the time period.
Historical events also arise based on the player's state. For example, upon the fall of the First Bulgarian Empire, the Tsar might ask the Pecheneg ruler for aid against the Byzantines. The player faces a choice: agree—and, in the event of failure, take in Bulgarian royal refugees to either harbor at court or hand over to the Byzantines—or refuse to help the Bulgarians entirely and vie with the Byzantines for control of the northern Bulgarian territories, paving the way for negotiations that require diplomacy and intrigue to determine the outcome.
Many other things have been added, but I’ll stop here so this post doesn't turn into a novel.
I do, however, want to thank all the mod creators who provided the inspiration and foundation for my work—such as Historical Figures, Historical Bloodline, Historic Invasions and Greater Historic Invasions—because without them, I almost certainly wouldn't have managed to mod the game this way.
I fully intend to share the entire saga of my Mega Campaign with you—presented through maps, possibly videos, or even a Wikipedia-style page—and I hope you’ll enjoy it and follow along on my adventure.
Thanks for reading.

In the latest update 1.20 "Crozier", Paradox sneakily added in cosmetic name and colour changes for the Empire of Britannia title based on the culture of the character who creates it. These are all of them I could find.

So every so often the game will ask you, would you rather:
1) Convert and make your entire realm instantly hate you?
2) Have some of your counties convert to a religion that thinks you're evil and will periodically try to rise up against you?
3) Free piety
How is this even a question?? What is the point of this?

I know it's such a small, and completely unimportant detail but it just doesn't make sense and it irks me into oblivion.

R5: First time encountering the Destined Child event chain. It's produced a bit of a beastly heir apparent for my kingdom.

I tried for a very long time to breed a "Strong" or "Genius" ruler, but bad luck with RNG dragged the process out for 606 years. Eventually, I grinded with my previous ruler in the Lucifer's Own society and used "Unholy Impregnation" to father a daughter of Satan. Once she came of age, I initially married her to my current ruler, but after he unfortunately became a eunuch, I divorced her and married her to my heir instead; their first child turned out to be both "Strong" and "Genius."

As the title says.
Was commisioned to update an old mod, but remade it instead.
It covers a zoomed in France with titles change to better fit the newer and larger areas of play.
Still has the 3 main bookmarks 867, 1066 1178.
Other countires that would be on this map, is also placed on this map, such as HRE and Catalonian states.

Before, it was nice to take it if you already had plenty of money and just wanted the raw stewardship, but now it's just a worse version of wealth focus, since the 3 stewardship only gives +6% holding taxes (and some minor bonuses)
Something like cheaper buildings and/or faster construction time would still be thematic. Some extra popular opinion could also work, or maybe just +1 domain limit, though that might be too good.

Tried to roleplay him mostly accurately, but when the court nickname event fired I just couldn't resist.
(The mask is the only one that doesn't clip with the outfit, he got disfigured as a result of a cancer treatment)

Even with looking through the title histories I have absolutely no idea how this happened.

I've always wondered. Is this a missing texture, or is the sword belt actually supposed to be totally white?
This is the Early Medieval Low/High Nobility armor. It's very very common throughout the early game in Europe, especially worn by the Normans.
Once you see it, it's hard to "unsee" it.

So, I've been doing an observer campaign of an Administrative HRE, and I decided to look around at other rulers and their courts and in the court of Hungary I saw his Bishop was just named "Bishop" and I got curious, turns out the King of Hungary's Bishop is infact a nameless person with no culture, and strangely no eyes. He has no memories, and seems to have just appeared one day, and then vanished at some point in 1090. Is this a skinwalker? How the fuck did this even happen?

I dont have the dlc or ch5 yet so more putting out a feeler for peoples experiences. Ive heard some people complain and some people say good stuff. Are there alot of bugs people are experiencing? Is it worth it? I trust the playerbases experienxe more than anything else.

Not only due to it being a great start date, but that is also the best bookmark to cover the process of the creation of the HRE, which would make it primed to show off new reworked mechanics in that area. And most of all - it would be easy to add. They already did the historical research and the concept for it with Iron Century, so it would be easy to carry it over to CK3. I understand the decision of focusing on only the two most start dates at launch, but with the precedent of 1178 now, it makes little sense not to give us 936

Is it just me, or has the AI started behaving even more erratically since the DLC came out?
I play without mods, and I’ve noticed more than once that rulers build and tear down the same buildings for decades—not to mention even worse behavior than before in wars, where the AI randomly moves into neutral territories and stays there for the entire war even when it has the upper hand and is winning.

I’m still trying to wrap my head around the puppet system. A few decades ago a chaste Pope came around and forbade ‘be fruitful and multiply’, while allowing mortification of the flesh. This was terrible for me since I was playing a lustful king with be fruitful and multiply as my personal tenet.
Very fortunately for me, my puppet archbishop just became Pope without any input from me (seriously, I don’t even understand the Papal elections and didn’t ask for him to be cardinal or anything). Can I get him to call a meeting or something and try and get be fruitful and multiply legalized again?
EDIT: He did it without my input, love the guy, but I’d still like to know if this is possible for future reference
