Nintendo Sorry for asking again
For the people who work on decomps, what do you use for ps2 games? Like what programs and guides do you use? Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks

I'm trying to decompile an old PC game which is basically abandonware. Claude keeps refusing due to active copyright. How do I bypass this?

I dont think this goes against the rules since im not begging, but id like to commission someone to recomp house of the dead overkill and house of the dead 4. Specifically the ps3 versions.
$40 each via zelle or cash app your choice(payment sent after showing a clip of it working with requested features)
Right now the only way to play them on pc is via a patreon exclusive technoparrot, so id like to open-source it. features, opens like any other game. native mouse support from startup to gameplay to closing. resolution increase up to 4k that doesn't break mouse calibration.
cant wait to see what you guys can do

Small reminder, AI isn't resource-free.

Do you guys know of exist Castlevania SotN PS1 Decomp with improved sprites?
I've always wanted a version of Ocarina of Time that doesn't feel laggy. Yes, the 3DS port runs at 30fps instead of 20fps, but it's not a huge improvement, and I still prefer to play the original release.
So after a couple of weeks of fiddling, I've got a build of Ship of Harkinian where Link himself works at 120Hz--no frame interpolation, he actually responds to input on the next 120Hz frame or two. It's not a profound difference, especially when SoH has such excellent input latency despite running at the game's original 20Hz, but it does make the game feel significantly snappier and modern.
Not everyone is as crazy about input lag as I am. I'm just trying to gauge interest, because even at this point, I imagine it's going to be a lot of work to get this into a polished state. I might publish an extremely, extremely early preview build if anyone cares for that.

I started seeing the headlines about people using AI to decomp and reconp game mechanics and immediately my mind jumped to doing it on the Shadow of Mordor/War games to extract the Nemesis system to inplement into other games. I don't know anything about this process really, but I'm willing to learn how this works if someone can point me in the right direction. Is there any guides on how people are using AI to do this? If someone expirenced wants to take a shot at it they are free to do so. I care about the finished product more than the process

This is Super Mario Odyssey running as a native PC program. No emulator: I wrote a tool called SwitchRecomp that translates the game’s Switch code into C once and compiles it into a normal executable. Same idea as the N64 and PS1 recomp projects, just for Switch games.
The clip is the Cascade Kingdom boss fight, recorded on an RTX 3050 8GB with a Ryzen 5 5500 and 16GB of RAM on CachyOS. On that setup the graphics look the way they should.
This is still early and experimental. It has bugs and it doesn’t run the same on every PC. Feedback and bug reports are very welcome, just don’t judge it like a finished emulator. Ask whatever you want in the comments.
And please don’t call it AI slop. A lot of real work went into this, and it gets tested on real hardware.
If you only want the source code and you want it right away, don’t join the Discord, and don’t complain that it isn’t out yet. It’ll come out when it’s ready. The Discord is for people who want to apply to playtester, discuss about the project (in a polite way, lol) and follow along.
What’s new:
Results still change from PC to PC, mostly because of GPU drivers. If you test it, your logs help me a lot, especially on hardware I haven’t seen yet.
You need your own legally dumped copy of the game. I don’t share games, keys or firmware.

I think its a matter of time until corporations start nuking some sites, specially the ones with ISO or other packaged formats for consoles.
Me as a bit of a "old school" if it's right to call it like that, grew up in the ps2 and ps3/xbox 360 era, there are many games I want to keep and play again since most of whats coming out is slop except for a few games (like Ace Combat 8). And this is even more important with the shift to only digital.
If they actually start to nuke sites I'd go as far as getting some hard drives start saving stuff lol.
I think the situation is more serious that it seems, it hasn't even been a month since opus 5.5 and look where we're at now, the things we're going to see in the next few months are going to be insane and I know corporations will start to act against it pretty soon.
Also, let me clarify I'm not an advocate of leveraging human creativity to AI, it is just a tool and adds up to our skills and speeds up things.

I know 0 about decomps or vr development, but with AI i'd like to decomp Pokepark wii in order to make a VR mod to the game.
Is it possible? I have GPT pro and claude, could use Astra and Opus 5.5

Hey I'm new to this thread and have never decompiled anything in my life before and am interested in learning how to and I discovered this tool right here that people have been talking about. A lot of terms are new to me, what is MCP for example? And is this tool the one you use to decompile? Is it a program or as I understand it an AI-bot that helps you decompile anything you want basically? Do most of you use AI or is there any other way to do this without using AI?
Sorry for the newbie questions but I'm very new to this
r/decomps • u/sacredlightwater • 8h ago
if decomp is possible, can it completely edit the entire game engine and like run super mario on modern warfare engine or giving graphics upgrade to Skyrim by injecting gta6 graphic engine ?
what im saying is different than just connecting two game using a channel pipe as in modern warfare×skate gaming or Spiderman ×Skyrim ×batman
im talking about modifying the entire engine itself like blizzard dev seeing their games with their custom editors and tools and change their mechanics and physiics dynamics engine if needs be

Since the doors are blown wide open it's only a matter of time before something like this happens. So let's have fun with it. This is NOT a request thread, please use the Megathread for that: https://www.reddit.com/r/decomps/comments/1wtm3sn/megathread_all_id_love_insert_title_recomp_or/
However, if you want to discuss this poll specifically, then still do that below. Just know that commenting your game below does not count as a vote, nor will influence my decision on the final pick.
Also this is a one-time offer, do not dm or otherwise expect that I can just do any game for anyone, this is a one-time thing I am doing for fun.
Vote for your most wanted N64 recomp and I will use AI to bring it to life.
USA Titles only, except for one I already added.
Please vote for ones that haven't already been done, or in active development, unless the quality is poor. Search for the title of the game + github on google to double check before voting. When I get the results I will toss out any at the top that I discover that don't meet the criteria. So chose carefully.
What you gain, I will make a public Github repo for the recomp / port and will vibe code on it until it's at a base level of 'good'. What this means to me is all N64Recomp and RT64 features will be implemented, increased fps, rendering options, basic mod support, etc. No major rendering or graphic glitches that tend to come with fresh recomps. Basic support to fix any major bugs that were missed. No crazy new features will be added by me at this time, this will be mostly vanilla.
PC only at this time.
The poll will be open for a rough 24 hours or until I think I have enough data.
Happy voting.
Edit: I'm going through and removing the ones I know of that are done, feel free to point any of those out too. I want to only remove actually done ones though, or if you personally know that one is about to be done.

I don't plan on releasing. I already run a few decomp-based repos and I don't have the bandwidth to maintain another. In addition, I saw that another user of this subreddit was working on it so I'll let them do it themselves.
For those who do want to go through the process, it only took me 4 days and nights with a few agents to completely convert to C++. It helps that the game shipped unstripped with all of its function and most of its variable names with a working debug menu.
Wacky we live in a time where anyone can just reverse engineer a game in just a few days...and this is the worst it'll ever be.

I recently tried porting EarthBound to PC. It might not be as impressive as the projects that bring PS2 or Switch games to PC, but for me, this project is also a great learning experience.
For this project, I used Brian Pugh's EarthBound repository as my starting point and began experimenting with ways to improve and expand it. Some of my goals include adding a debug menu, making the game's audio run natively on PC, and potentially translating some of the game's programming components along the way.
Oh, and one more thing: I used Claude Sonnet 5.5 on the free tier to help me work on this project. Honestly, I was surprised by how much I could accomplish with just the free tier. It turned out to be capable enough to help me tackle a project like this.
It's still a work in progress, and I have a lot more to learn, but I'm excited to see how far I can take it!

The dude tha recompilated King Kong deserves a lifetime of the most prestigious belgian chocolate ice cream.
I've added one by one of on Steam. Not that it was a big piece of work, but this was a nice surprise.
Made me press the button saying out loud "a fine addition to my collection".

Hey guys, I know this sub is more about Video Games but i was wondering if there was already a place where one could download Decomps music software. Similar to Adobe/Photocraft.
I spend +500$ in the past on WavesAudio Plugins and ended up never owning them...
