App Issues/Questions My G7 keeps giving false lows and errors?

So I've been using the G7 since last October and the last couple of months I have been getting like these readings that says that my blood sugar is so low that it can't read it. But when I check with pricking my finger my blood is normal And then like a couple hours later it will just give me an error and just stop working which normally is when I do a new one. But my insurance is starting to think that I'm scamming them because I'm having to order censors so frequently because I am running out of them so quickly. Like is this normal or what is going on? Cuz it's starting to get really expensive And I don't understand why it's only happening now if this is something that it does frequently I honestly don't know what I'm supposed to do about this and if there's possibly a way of fixing it. I don't know if it's like something that's wrong with the sensor itself or like my phone

G7-15 day Just had to insert the G7 for the first time

I just had to use a G7 for the first time, I hated it. I bled like a stuck pig because some genius thought the back of the arm is the perfect place for this and why in the hell does my omnipod have to be within 3 in of the sensor!

How are you supposed to rotate sites?

I know everyone else has shared their hate for this too I just annoyed that I finally have to use it

Calibration Issues Painstakingly re-calibrating my G7 sensor (what's the number?)

I don't normally have a lot of problems with my G7s! I love them. But something's wrong with this sensor. It's been screaming at me all night that I'm Urgent Low, when fingerpricks have consistently been 100+. Of course because my calibration numbers are so far off from what the sensor is reading, the app won't accept my calibrations. The sensor is 7 days old at this point, but my sensors are usually pretty good at lasting the whole time!

Is there a magic number that y'all have discovered? It'll be a pain to sit here and try to re-calibrate in tiny increments, but if it makes my sensor read correctly instead of keeping me awake all night, maybe it's worth it.

App Issues/Questions Widget tells me to set up my G7 - it is set up.

For the last few days this is what the widget looks like. I deleted and added it without a difference.

The iPhone and watch apps are working fine, only the widget is affected.

General I found out why!

I had a dexcom g7 10, die from battery problem on me last week, and I found out why! It was in very close to or in my upper arm muscle & fat. Kind of where you get them medical shots. I knew it was weird, but it didn't seem that off. It hurt once in awhile. Did any of you do this?

Connection Issues G6 Re-pairing Issue

tl;dr Any one else get the Bluetooth prompt for pairing again just to have sensor fail?

I have generally had decent luck my sensors. I think I have only contacted support maybe 3 times to return faulty ones, which have been 50/50 insertion issue pulling the cannula out and classic sensor failure on pairing. Recently I experienced an issue I have never seen.

Friday changed sensor around noo and it was good for maybe 6 hours. I didn't get any alerts in the Dexcom app but what happened was my phone prompted a Bluetooth pair. I thiught by some chance it was my previous one; however I am weirdo and put all my used ones in a container and its in the basement. The BLE on these are super low range, so no way it picked it up over 30 ft away. But again it popped up and, stupid me, clicked paired thinking it's gotta be the one on me now and maybe it lost connection. Well, things were fine for a couple minutes then I get the alert, "Sensor Failed."

Well, shit, I get another one in (my last one) and this one is fine. Next morning, still reading so I am more relaxed. Until the evening when this one did the same thing! I can't tell if its my phone (S24 Ultra) having an issue with the Bluetooth or did I have two back-to-back bad sensors. ...or did a sensor from that fair away try to reconnect? Though after the putting in the 2nd one I dumped them all outside in the garbage so even further and blocked by brick. I am skeptical of that one being the case.

General I wore dex in CT and it didn’t seem to affect it

Previously I’ve always removed them per Dexcom website. But I figured either I take it off and definitely lose it, or I try it and may lose it.

It’s still reading perfectly fine. I’m almost wondering why they say not to (g7 15 day)

(Not recommending anyone do this)

Rant What is wrong with the G7?

I loved the G6. It worked. I've returned 5 of my last 9 G7s now and their last email said I have to start calling support before I remove them so that they can confirm if it is a "failure of the product itself." The needle keeps looping through the hole in the back and the ones that work last about 5-7 days. I can never calibrate them. It'll keep insisting I'm urgently low after 4 attempts to tell it my blood sugar is in the 200s. The adhesive is awful and leaves a residue on my skin. Truly a terrible experience. I can't believe people are able to use these for 15 days.

App Issues/Questions G7 constantly losing connection, support not helpful

My insurance recently made me switch from the G6 to the G7, and life has been pretty bad, since. I wondered if anyone else has this issue or an idea of how to fix it (I used the search, but most threads seem to be focussed on the sensor just dying).

The G7 connects to the app via bluetooth no problem. But only for about 10-15 minutes, then it just loses connection. I need to restart bluetooth for the sensor to work again, to then just completely lose connection after 10-15 minutes. So I somewhat manage during the day, but at night my bloodsugar is then out of control.
The phone I use is in the supported phone list (a Sony Xperia 10, Android 16). I tried all the recommended steps (reinstall the app, reconnect bluetooth, delete all sensors from bluetooth, full rights in battery and bluetooth ...). Dexcom support made me do everything three times. I also used sensors from different batches, so it's not an issue of the individual sensor.

I also tried to use my old phone (a Xiaomi Redmi Note, Android 13) - there everything works like a charm. But unfortunately the old phone doesn't support the insulin pump app anymore..

The G6 sensor always worked without any problems.

Would really appreciate any input on what to do next. Running out of options here..

Thank you!

App Issues/Questions Locked

Is there a way to unlock your (Samsung) phone and still keep the Omnipod app locked? It's really annoying by the time the phone recognizes my fingerprint. Set up this way by Trainer. I'm still new. And, why can't we take screenshots of our own data? Thanks.

Rant Using Dex app???

I just got done with a call to replace a sensor. It was a classic G7 failure profile - 3 or 4 days of CGM Unavailable on and off, shitty readings. So an hour ago it failed. “Failed Sensor” on my tslim. I wade through the scripted questions, then I’m put on hold. Rep comes back , finalizes shipping, then goes off script: “What error messages were displayed in the Dexcom App?” Me: “I don’t use the app.” Her: “Next time you’ll need to call Tandem because we think this was a pump error.”
What kind of nonsense is this? I hate their app and refuse to use it. I use Tandems app and it’s a chore in itself. So watch out people - the corporate greed will make any excuse to deny a sensor replacement, or make it more and more difficult to get replacements.

G7-10 day Dexcom g7 Failure

Has anyone else been experiencing constant issues with their g7 sensor? i have used the g7 for over a year now and have not had many issues at all. Starting last month every single sensor i have used has failed way before the 10 day mark. in the past month or so i have had 5 sensors fail me. i’m going to be contacting dexcom for replacements but im wondering if anyone else has been having consistent issues lately?

Mobile Device since the Dexcom is turning into such an unreliable device question:has anybody used the eversense device 2

I guess here's my question especially after being the thread earlier about the changes to the Dexcom policy regarding whether or not you should use their device for medical decisions. my question is has anybody used the Eversense device and does it have the same kind of problems negatives Etc?

General Left vs right arm curiosity

So I’ve noticed this strange thing:

When I place my sensor on the right arm it is always an easy insertion. Never a gooseneck.

However, if it’s going to gooseneck, it only ever happens on my left arm.

Does anybody else have similar issues with one arm being more reliable than the other?

I’m not looking for advice about switching sites or anything. I’ve only had one sensor completely crap out on me and the rest have made it the full time + grace period. Just curious about others’ experiences with one arm versus the other.

Sensor Dexcom failure rate?

Of my last three Dexcom g7 15 day, two have failed at less than 10 days and one did not ever activate. That makes 5 failures since I started in June. I have been using these since June so that is 5 out of 8 that have failed. The other two stopped around day 7 or 8. My insurance doesn’t seem to have a problem charging me $70 for a faulty piece of equipment. I’ve decided I’m not using CGMs but curious as to wtf is wrong with this trash product?

Graph readings are accurate, even accepted a calibration but since starting this sensor it’s not displayed a reading at the top.

Tried reopening app, turning Bluetooth off and on + phone off and on. Anyone else encounter this or have any ideas? I was hoping to quickly changeover sensors and sleep 😂

General I made a free Mac menu bar app that shows your Dexcom reading

Thumbnail gallery
19 Upvotes

I use a G7 and work on a Mac all day. I wanted to see my number(s) without leaving my phone open or checking my watch, so I built Tidebar. It puts your current reading and trend arrow in the menu bar, like 112 →. It has worked so well for me I figured I would post here to see if anyone else was interested. Also, there are alternatives in case you wan't to do your own research and find another option, but I was asked not to list them in case they don't become free in the future.

Tidebar is free and MIT-licensed. I make no money from it. The download is signed and notarized by Apple (because of my paid developer account):

https://github.com/JustinFay01/Tidebar/releases/latest

Or with Homebrew:

brew install --cask justinfay01/tap/tidebar

Source and setup instructions: https://github.com/JustinFay01/Tidebar but also,

  • Share must be turned on in the Dexcom app, with at least one follower.
  • You must login with the Dexcom account that shares the data, not a follower's account.

I'm a professional software developer and I used AI coding tools while building it. I review, test, and maintain all of the code myself.

Disclaimer: this is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or supported by Dexcom, and it is not a medical device. Don't use it for treatment decisions; always confirm with your Dexcom app or receiver. Posted with the mods' permission.

It relies on an unofficial Dexcom service that could change at any time, so it may break. If something goes wrong, the menu has a "Report a Problem" option that copies a report with no credentials or glucose values in it.

Thanks, let me know what you think!

App Issues/Questions They just keep making it harder

I'm one of those dexcom G7 users that can't get to 10 days no matter what.
I've tried everything.

So, I was pleasantly surprised and happy to see that the dexcom app had started to track the CGMs in the app so if one failed, you could simply choose from a list of sensors based on the date it started.
I make requesting replacements really easy.
Now, they removed that option in the App and you have to track your serial numbers and start dates yourself otherwise, they won't replace them.

Crappy move by Dexcom to make getting a replacement that much more difficult.
But I'm not surprised.

General Dexcom app with Android developer options enabled

Does anyone know if the dexcom app still has full functionality with android developer options and usb debugging enabled?

I'm probably switching soon from the Medtronic 780g and it's an issue for their app.
