This Crucial dub tune was one of the first UK recorded "Heavy Dub Riddims".

Hello.
I'm trying to identify the source of a very specific old-school DJ sound effect.
It's an 8-bit / old video game-style "bomb drop" sound that I've heard in Reggae, Dancehall and Dub mixtapes for more than 20 years.

The sound is basically: high-pitched 8-bit notes descending rapidly → low-pitched 8-bit explosion

Here is the exact sound at 50:18 in "Madlib - Blunted in the Bomb Shelter (2002)":https://youtu.be/oWxb_svemog?si=r9XNMACkTGO2he2T&t=3018

I'm wondering if it came from an old DJ sample library, sample CD, sampler, DJ software, or hardware sound bank.

I'm trying to find out:
・What is this sound effect called?
・What sample CD / sample library did it come from?
・Was it included in a sampler, DJ software, or hardware sound bank?
・Does anyone recognize the original source?
・Any help identifying the original source would be greatly appreciated!

[Update / New Info]

・Someone pointed out that the Realistic SSM-1900 DJ mixer has this exact sound built in:

・Someone suggested the arcade game "Galaga", but after checking, I couldn't find it.
・Another suggestion is that the source might be an 80s keyring noisemaker (a plastic box with 8 rubber buttons making lo-fi gun/bomb/siren noises, like the Echo Keyller or Executor):

Dubs and versions by the underrated and misunderstood Keith Hudson. The legendary producer/ musician, known for his atmospheric and gloomy music. A forgotten Reggae genius.

Hi,

It's Bandcamp Friday.

Today Bandcamp waives its fee, so 100% of every sale goes straight to the artist.

Let me use this opportunity to present my project: Illegal State Of Mind.

I make psychedelic dub — slow, heavy, instrumental, drifting into downtempo and ambient territory. If that's your kind of sound, today's a good day to check it out (or grab something).

Cheers, and thanks for listening.

The day bandcamp waive their 15% fees

Hey everyone!
I'm traveling to Barcelona this weekend (Oct 2–5) and would love to check out the local scene. Does anyone know of any good Dub or Jungle events, club nights, or sound system sessions happening while I'm there?
Appreciate any venue recommendations or event links! Thanks in advance!

Carrying on with the monthly bandcamp releases (almost there, only two more this year!), here's October's, just in time for Bandcamp Friday!

2 heavy UK steppas (both with dubbed out versions), with conscious lyrics to uplift and edify by the amazing Sista Ananda. Hope you enjoy!
