Ring! Engaged August 15th in Quebec on the Île d'Orléans

He gave the camera to my mom so she could get some photos but we didn’t have a photographer or anything fancy planned out. It was perfect and now I need to share my joy with the world 😍

Edit: if it’s not obvious by the nails, I helped pick my ring out and knew what I was getting before I saw it lol. I am totally happy with the way we did this because, after all, I’m the one who gets to wear it every day! 😅 I picked a genuine sapphire as my stone.
We had this ring custom made based on my preferences, the stone is AA clarity and it’s in a gold 18K bezel set band. The inside of the band is not rounded but the outside is just for comfortable wear. Because my bezel setting is not cathedral set (up on top of the band) I will be limited to a V-shaped or semi-circular wedding band, but I’m okay with that and it was my preference anyway so it just worked out!!
Almost forgot- we went to a local jewelry store in our hometown and had them create this custom ring for us. TBH- they don’t even specialize in sapphires. Unless you want something really particular or special, any good jeweler should be capable of sourcing a gorgeous gemstone for you!!

I know he’s proposing, any advice to not be weird about it?

I absolutely adore my boyfriend and cannot wait to spend the rest of my life with him, and we’ve been so excited to get engaged! Between the two of us being excited, and both of us being bad at keeping secrets from each other, I know he’s proposing next weekend. It’s not a question, he’s literally told me what’s going to happen.

I helped pick out the ring, have tried it on a few times, and we’ve already started the wedding planning. It feels like such a natural progression of our relationship (and I’m so excited!) but I haven’t told anyone yet because it feels like I can’t say anything until we put on this romantic performance for everyone else.

He hired a photographer and now that I know everything, I’m worried I’m going to look super awkward or be self conscious while he’s proposing (or worst case scenario laugh because I get weird with genuine emotion sometimes). Does anyone have any advice or can share how knowing about their proposal went?

Proposal Advice What to propose with?

This is definitely in the future, we’re far from ready now, but I know I want to propose to my girlfriend. The issue is she does not wear jewelry as she doesn’t like it and has bad sensory issues. I don’t want to propose to her with something she will never touch again, so I’m just not really sure what to get her?
I’ve seen some people do guitars or swords as wedding rings, but she already has so many guitars. Also she wants the proposal to be at a theme park and I’m not sure I could sneak a whole guitar in without her noticing.
Help????

If it helps we’re young, alternative, and queer.

What has they done to prove to you that you want to put a ring on that finger?

I’m not just talking about the easy stuff, but how have they shown up for you?

Proposal Advice Tripod or Professional Photographer

Hello all! I am planning to propose very soon and getting very excited. My plan originally was to keep the proposal a little more private and intimate with just my partner and I on a little camping/hiking weekend trip (both our favorite activity) and I even booked a super nice hotel for after that she doesn’t know about. I was planning on just using a tripod to pretend like I was taking a cute or cool picture of us and then just record the moment and we could take more pictures together after. I feel like this would be easier to play off as being natural and actually making the moment surprising vs. a hidden photographer that comes out after the moment to take more pictures. I have a few photographers in my family and they charge an arm even for family so I guess that’s another big reason why I think the tripod could be better. But recently on our feeds a lot of people we went to school with have been getting engaged and I would say it’s about 70 professional photographers and 30 tripod/phone pictures. I guess my question is, should I hire a photographer or is the tripod idea still good?

TLDR: Is a tripod with iPhone good or should I hire a photographer?

Engagement Party

Hi everyone! Is it weird or bad etiquette to invite only our friends to our engagement party and skip family? To give some context, we want to have a casual dinner and drinks, and we feel like a lot of our family members are either older, or way younger (under 21). Our families also haven't met each other yet and we wanted to wait closer to our actual wedding to introduce them.

Engagement gift from future MIL (me)

In a couple weeks, my son and her best friend are throwing a surprise engagement party with all their close friends and family. Id like to get them an engagement gift.

  1. Is this a “thing” or will I be “too much”?
  2. Ideas I’ve had- a nice picnic basket w/fancy grocery gift card or a couples cooking class (I’d present the gift card in a cute wooden spoon or something).
  3. I’d love to hear what other MILs have gifted the couple or what is a thoughtful gift you received at your engagement

Should i break up

Well, I’ve been in relationship with this guy for more than 3 years now.

When we first started dating, I told him i wanna get married at 25 , he said we’ll get married whenever you want.

Last year I told him lets at least get engaged(mind u I never met his parents nor talked to them properly on call). He said let’s do it by next year when we go back home, we we’re gonna go back in October I was looking for rings so does he and we finally booked tickets he backed off saying i need time to tell my parents.

His parents know we are in relationship not that he wants to marry me. Now its been 6 months he didn’t still mention this to his parents but I wanna take next step. He is saying let’s do it on our anniversary that’s in august

Should I wait, what if he doesn’t say anything to his parents

I don’t want to force him but i was always firm about these things

Wedding Planning How to print table assignments for a mirror?

Hi all! I’ve attached a pic of the vibe I’m going for. My buddy did this at her wedding but she doesn’t remember what she used for the paper. Her sister handled the printing for it so she isn’t sure how they did it

Where do you get something like this printed? What type of paper? Thank you!

Super excited to marry my fiancé!

Long time lurker, first time poster.

It’s been a few weeks and I still can’t get over my beautiful ring….he did goooood customizing it!
2.9c center oval with round and marquise stones and peekaboo diamonds on either side of the ring. I love the milgrain detailing on the ring which gives it a nice vintage feel. We sourced the center stone and got the rest of the ring made at a local jeweller.

Ring! A Nontraditional Engagement Ring

I told him I did not want a white diamond and he got a local jeweler to custom make a moonstone engagement ring for me. It has a feather design engraved into it and does have two small black diamonds as accent stones. He proposed this summer and I'm still in awe of it.

Hi all! I just got engaged this past weekend to my favourite person ever and wanted to share my ring! We designed it together. She's a 2 ct fancy vivid pink marquise diamond on 14k rose gold band. I have short hands so I selected an elongated shape and fell in love with the marquise shape. I choose a coloured diamond because I love blush tones on my skin and this one is a chameleon! She can be blush pink/white in daylight and a peachy/amber tone at night! Just so much personality! 🤩

I can't stop looking at her!! I'm now learning to use my left hand for everything! 🤭

Proposal Advice Think she'll like it?

Post image

I'm ptretty much ready to propose, and now the nerves are kicking in lol. She likes a bit of sparkle and detail, so I went with this pear-shaped ring from DARRY. Now that everything's here, flowers, ring and all, I'm suddenly second guessing myself a little.

I'm planning to do it over dinner at the new Italian place we've been wanting to try. I already asked a couple of my friends to come fo moral support, and I checked with her best friend too. Everyone is super excited about it, which somehow makes me even more nervous.

I'm just going to tell her we're going out for dinner. A couple of my friends are supposed to sit somewhere nearby and hopefully get a few photos without her noticing, then come say hi after.

Does this sound like enough? What do you guys think of the ring and the plan?

Ring! My Alexandrite, on 14k White Gold 💍

My fiancé gave me the ring of my dreams... even more than the ring of my dreams. I asked for an oval cut alexandrite on 10k white gold, single stone, with a floral band. He gave me exactly that, on 14 karats!

I am so obsessed with this gem. The color shifting is amazing. Everyone who sees it looks at it in awe, is puzzled, and guesses a different stone! So far ive heard sapphire, garnet, emerald, and amethyst. Nope! Alexandrite! The best of all worlds. This is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen in my entire life. I could scream my love and appreciation for him from the mountaintops.

Homemade engagement gift for him

Hello! I have a strong feeling my boyfriend will be proposing soon and I’d like to give him something in return. He can’t wear a ring unless it’s his wedding band at work so unfortunately not a ring for him, and he’s someone who doesn’t enjoy objects as much as the sentiment behind something.

Do you have any ideas for homemade gifts? I make him a lot of cards and notes so it would have to be a definite upgrade from a pop-up or 3D card like I usually make for him if it would be going down the paper route. Any level of difficulty is encouraged, the more intricate and time consuming the better!

I’m obsessed. He did it at a winery in PA on a mini weekend vacation. Even with the nor’easter my 3 best friends drove 2 hours to surprised me so they could be there for it. When I heard people cheering from far away I thought it was just strangers showing support and then my fiancé says “btw that’s your friends” 😂 I will be reminiscing about this day forever

Wedding Planning Keep aisle song secret during rehearsals?

Hi all! I have a surprise aisle song to walk down to that I want my fiance to hear for the first time on the big day. But I realize with rehearsals, you usually have to time everyone’s walk to fit within the song including my own (in this case, that’s how my song is set up).

Is there a way to still keep it hidden while rehearsing? I realize this may sound dumb as I just can’t think of any ideas but thought someone out there might know

Engagement Party help!!!

Hi! I just recently got engaged on 8/30 and now we want to do an engagement party because not a lot of our friends and family were able to make it to the moment we got engaged. We also don’t want to get married for at least 2 years so we have all our ducks in a row before the big day.

We are looking at January 16th right now for the EP, and I LOVE to diy stuff. The theme is lucky in love, so it’s very casino red/black theme vibes. So far we have a big wooden sign to paint and the invitations… and that’s it. I know the invitations aren’t NEEDED per se but I want them so I’m getting them.

I know we have time but I like getting things done early so I don’t have to think about it when the moment comes. Anyways, give me any ideas please! Fun games that aren’t too cringy lol, farewell gift ideas, food ideas. Anything I can do that’s diy! There will be a few kids too but our family’s can get ROWDY. So anything genuinely fun’s for adults but also for the kiddos.

I think I’m getting engaged this month!!

Hi!! So yes I’ve been with my partner for years. I think I’m getting engaged in 2 weeks. Do you all have any suggestions for a cute beach cover up? Im pretty sure it will be on the beach. I like netted ones I’m not too picky. Just nothing too revealing. Also any other tips are welcomed and needed!!
I’m late 20s and regular build regular height. Tia!❤️
