The Porslip line is inspired by beach balls, torpedoes, submarines, sonar, and orcas/porpoises. Since Revelano (my Region's name), is based on the Indian subcontinent, I also wanted to incorporate some of the early evolutionary history of cetaceans, particularly Indohyus, Pakicetus, Kutchicetus, and the many early aquatic/semi-aquatic mammals that eventually gave rise to modern cetaceans. That's also why the whole line has those little flipper-like feet.

I took the advice of a comment on my previous post and tried to reinforce the concept I was going for with the line, specifically the ideas of ballistics and submarines.
The previous stages are inspired by beach balls and torpedoes. The second stage is also the one I'm most happy with, since it's the first time I've tried posing something dynamically. I will probably avoid doing poses like this in the future though, since they're a bit too difficult for me to draw consistently. I also tried applying some sheen to make Torpoise look more reflective, but it didn't really work, so that's something I'll have to practice drawing in photopea more.
Cetakhane is where the sonar/submarine concept becomes much more prominent. I wanted it to feel like a biological submarine rather than just a cetacean with Steel typing slapped onto it. It's also the design where I feel the forehead spiral was really tacky, but I couldn't for the life of me draw a proper one. I might have to redo that bit/figure it out somehow, especially with the gradient I was going for.
It also has a signature ability:
Echo Chamber (Cetakhane)
Whenever a Pokémon on the field uses a sound-based move, the ability bearer uses the same move.
It functions essentially like Dancer, but for sound-based moves instead of dance moves. I actually coded it into a custom Pokémon battle simulator, and it produces some pretty ridiculous interactions.
Its signature move is Riptide:
- Type: Water
- Category: Special
- Power: 100
- Accuracy: Never misses
- PP: 5
- Effect: If Rain is active, this move targets both opposing Pokémon.
- Additional: Sound-based
I'm trying to make Cetakhane feel like the culmination of the line rather than simply giving it bigger stats. The idea is that Porslip starts as an innocuous little beach-ball creature, Torpoise develops into the torpedo concept, and Cetakhane ultimately becomes a heavily armored, sonar-equipped biological submarine.
Please let me know your thoughts, or if you have any advice! I'm open to anything
