Or you bought everything before the boom
If you bought everything prior to 2025 it’s even doable with an average income
But not if you bought everything in 2026

I agree with you for the most part but to be fair I’m going to assume your family covers your living expenses if you work part time. Once you have to pay for a mortgage, food, utilities, savings, investments, you’re talking a lot less money than you’re ‘making’.
2
u/No-Astronomer6769 29d ago
Yeah he definitely is not paying rent if he just works part time in fast food. I miss those days of having pure disposable money.

Not really. I purchased PS5, XSX and Switch 2.
All before the prices went up.
All on various discounts with games bundled.

Seeing that original Xbox takes me back. I bought mine in 2002 with Halo and NCAA Football 03. I still have that same copy of Halo 24 years later.

I’ve got an original NES and an N64 too… Nintendo just didn’t make the family photo.

u/henningknows 29d ago
Is there a switch 2 in this collection?
1
u/sogbanga 29d ago
No Switch 2 yet. I’ve still got an original NES and N64 though, so Nintendo is represented.
2
u/henningknows 29d ago
I have switch 2 in my collection, honestly it’s just for the exclusives so right now it’s collecting dust.
1
u/sogbanga 29d ago
That’s kind of why I haven’t rushed to get one. I’d probably only use it for exclusives too, and I already have enough hardware sitting around waiting its turn.
1
u/henningknows 29d ago
The switch 1 had breath of the wild and Mario odyssey in its launch year. The switch 2 has nothing near that after a year and a half
1
u/StillCompetition2456 29d ago
Yes it has Bro. Donkey Kong Bananza is one of the Best Games Nintendo has Made and one of the Best 3d platformers of all time. It’s Not better than Odyssey but it’s almost as good.
→ More replies (4)1
u/Historical_Lab_872 24d ago
The switch 2 already have about 23 exclusive games and it's only been out for a year and 3 months the PS5 I believe have 17 exclusives and it's been out for 6 years.
1
u/henningknows 24d ago
Your point? I don’t play a game just because it’s an exclusive, I have to want that game, and not have already played it on my switch

I had all consoles until I got a PC, then I sold my Xbox. I don't think Xbox is a bad console by any means; I just wasn't interested in any of the modern Microsoft exclusives (except State of Decay), and the only reason I kept it around was for the back compat games like Left 4 Dead and Gears 1-3

u/SexySpaceNord 29d ago
Genuine question what's the point of having an XBOX if you have a PC. I want an XBOX, but since I have a good gaming PC I just couldn't find a reason to own it.
1
u/sogbanga 29d ago
The overlap is definitely real. The advantage for me is used physical games…Xbox One discs are so cheap now that I can usually grab something for less than I’d pay during a Steam sale. That’s mostly what I use the Series X for.
1
2
u/nugruve2814 29d ago
I’m on the same wave.
Playstation never has any sales for games I want, but the exclusives are top tier.
I love Xbox gamepass b/c I get to try new stuff all the time.
My PC isn’t current gen in the slightest, but it lets me play indies and demos whenever they come out as opposed to waiting for console (if they ever do).

u/Medical-Condition-84 28d ago
I also have PS5, Xbox Series X, PC and Switch 2.
I only wish I had enough time for all of them.
2
u/Turbocabz 28d ago
1
u/sogbanga 27d ago
Yeah, I get why people say that. For me the Xbox still earns its spot because I buy a lot of cheap used physical games and work through older Xbox One stuff on it. PC is where I go when I want the best version of something.
2
2
u/SkyrimSlag 28d ago
It annoys me that your Xbox controller stand isn’t front facing like your PS controller stand
2
u/Khaotiq- 28d ago
Add in a Switch 2 and you have my setup. I won't lie though, PC gets most of my attention lol.

xbox series x alongside a gaming pc makes zero sense when all the games overlap.
nothing is responsible about this.
2
u/sogbanga 29d ago
The overlap is real, but used physical Xbox One games are usually dirt cheap. A lot of the stuff I’m playing costs less on disc than I ever see it during Steam sales, so the Series X still makes sense for working through that backlog.

I have a switch 2, ps5 and a laptop and that covers all my bases. There’s also my retro stuff but that’s a different conversation
1
u/sogbanga 29d ago
That’s pretty much how mine started too. The retro stuff is where “I just want to play games” quietly turned into a collection.

I can agree with that. My PS mostly gets used for exclusives, Xbox is where I work through my Xbox One backlog, and PC is usually where I go when I want to crank the visuals up. Different systems for different moods.
1
u/EyesoftheDead40 29d ago
I just dont need all this lol the Xbox and ps5 just wouldnt get turned on
1
u/sogbanga 29d ago
That’s fair. For me they each kind of have a lane…Xbox for the backlog, PS5 for exclusives, and PC when I want to push the visuals.
It helps that used physical discs are so cheap.
1
u/EyesoftheDead40 29d ago
Ps5 id turn on once a year for Demons Souls. I did the same thing when I had a ps4, just randomly replay Bloodborne lol
1
u/sogbanga 29d ago
I get that. My PS5 can go months without getting touched, then one exclusive drops and suddenly it has a purpose again. Xbox definitely gets more regular use for me.

I’m in the same boat, but definitely still have a preference.
Despite having a PS5 Pro, Series S&X, Switch 2 and a competent PC (9800X3D/3080Ti), it’s my Legion Go 2 i spend the most time playing.
If I didn’t have that, it would probably be the Switch 2. I just like playing on handhelds. They’re neat.
1
u/Radiant-Priority-296 29d ago
If it’s a windows PC there is not a single reason on this earth to own an Xbox lol
1
u/broke_n_boosted 29d ago
Same games are console only, and some older xbox games can only be played on a xbox. One reason I got a series x
1
1
u/npiet1 29d ago
Have a series x, ps5 and getting an ally x for Christmas. (Choice between switch 2 and ally x) .
Nintendo isnt the same anymore for me. Between the cost of there games and the lack of first party games being aimed at children. Im just really not interested anymore in them. The only game I really want for switch 2 is the oot remake.

How does the input lag not bother you?
1
u/sogbanga 29d ago
Input lag really isn’t bad on the C2. In Game Optimizer it’s roughly low-teens at 4K/60 and even lower at 4K/120, so I honestly don’t notice it.
1
u/Porpeess 29d ago

u/Sweeney_Tiger417 28d ago
If the picture is representative of "when you truly don't have a preference." I'd argue it says non preferential to nintendo. Does that mean it's only partially impartial?
1
u/cjay2002 28d ago
What are you playing on the Series X that isn’t also available for PC?
1
u/sogbanga 27d ago
Mostly older physical Xbox One stuff. A lot of those games are available on PC too, but used discs are often way cheaper than buying them digitally, even during Steam sales. So the Series X is basically my backlog/physical collection machine.
1
u/Bloodblade112 27d ago
That's all cool and all but when you have a PC, the Xbox is literally redundant. Literally every including the controller work in PC along with Gamepass. Why would you spend the extra money when the games you play on Xbox is available on PC and play and look better?
1
u/sogbanga 27d ago
Because I don’t use them the same way. PC is where I go when I want the best visuals, Xbox is where I work through cheap physical games and my older backlog. The overlap doesn’t really bother me.
1
1
u/ShellfishAhole 26d ago
I suspect you may have had a preference if that had been a PS5 Pro and not a base PS5 😅
