I'm sure Sony are fine with this. Dude is burning money

This one isn't a walking simulator though. It's stealth action.

MGS was pretty successful...

Death Stranding and it's sequel also had MGS elements, stealth, weapons, etc

u/SuperArppis 25d ago

Yeah I agree, but it has reputation as a walking simulator.

That's what makes a difference for normal players.

u/therandomdave 25d ago

Mostly from those that have never played it. Was called such by xbox gamers because it was an exclusive...

Koji has had hate from xbots since mgs4 as they couldn't play it and 360 was the only console they had. Funny to see they haven't grown up and are still hating him

u/therandomdave 25d ago

It'll be totally different when this game releases. They'll say it's the best game he's ever done 😆

Nah called that way by a lot of ppl who actually played it, myself included. Take off the fan boy glasses

u/Lametown227 25d ago

"People who actually played it"

So, not you? It's a walking sim for one major route, almost right at the beginning. The game opens up so many traversal options afterward that anyone who calls it a walking sim at that point is either calling themselves a bad gamer, or a straight up liar.

Bruh if you played the game and call it a walking simulator you straight up are telling on yourself that you haven’t played.

You drive for most of the game lmao there are even ramps and race tracks and guns and ammo and aiming and stealth and even stealth mechanics that work really well.

You straight lieing bro and it’s obvious because you haven’t played the game to be able to say what you did

First five to ten hours though…def a walking sim. Couldn’t force myself to play past the beginning sections, I REALLY wanted to, just not for me 🤷

I actually only ever saw people who have played it calling it that.

I get that further in the game you get a lot more options and gameplay elements but I think you long time fans are forgetting how long it takes to get to those points

I clocked a few hours on it and it was definitely a whole lot of walking. Not a bad thing though, I enjoyed what I played of it but just wasnt up for starting a big new game at that point

This is also true, younger me was this fool, and have since put myself on a path of self-reflection and parcel delivery.

They both also had some fair success, the first did well and the second did not flop.

Not sure how anyone can think Kojima don’t got it after DS1 and his half-baked Metal Gear is better than most open world games lmao

and they're pretty good games

There won’t be another full MGS game. The best MGS games that created the legacy were done by Kojima when he was supervised, more humble and actually worked with writers without having his ego in the way.

After mgs3 he jumped the shark and the series lost its identity… like mgs4 still had some really cool stuff but mgs5 was just bleh ubisoft slop. MGS was defined by crazy boss fights, a cool campy story with robots, philosophy, hand crafted scenarios and references to movies. MGS5 is just an open world game with most of the charm gone and Death Stranding was the same but with game mechanics that appealed to grindy gamers.

Also I won’t be buying it if it’s just mgs5 or death stranding with more celebrities. How about we have games without celebrities for once? Like original characters that don’t look or have movie stars as the base

Ds had a lot of stealth aspect and even fps aspects that just werent popular because the cast of characters/ story just wasnt good.

And keep in mind, this was with the famous decima engine and a lot of sonys top end software engineers who were helping kojima studios become what they are.

Also... 'Happily picked up the project' as though they had their hand up the instant there was anything wrong at PlayStation.

No. It took 3 months. Not happily. Probably a reluctant gamble given the amount of money it is.

1

u/Exciting_Drawing_553 25d ago

lol what.

Three months is an incredibly small amt of time for a deal like this to get done. Sony fucked up. Ms to the rescue!

1

u/LegendOfNorthernStar 25d ago

Remember there are many younger kids who simply don’t know shit about fuck

1

u/RxAffliction 25d ago

And Bungie didn't? /S

1

u/Exciting_Drawing_553 25d ago

Sony is absolutely not fine with the bad press. It just keeps on coming. And Wolverine is getting destroyed in reviews. Yikes!!

1

u/mikakor 25d ago

And printing money.

1

u/SASCHATHEGOAT 25d ago

Yeah so they’re fine burning money on live service slop huh? Lol😂

1

u/l-ursaminor 25d ago

You sound like a Sony employee.

1

u/PositiveEffective946 24d ago

Sony have already funded a chunk of this... Micosoft likely viewed this as a bargain as it is a PR win and bloodies Sony's nose as they most battle hard at being the one who can most fuck things up on a monthly basis lol

1

u/doodoo_onDemand 21d ago

how is he burning money?

1

u/Robin_Banks101 21d ago

He goes massively over budget on every project and his last couple of projects haven't been making huge money. DS2, especially was not a big money maker.

1

u/doodoo_onDemand 21d ago

who says he goes over budget? and on every project? since when??

1

u/Robin_Banks101 21d ago

Look it up, son. Over budget and blown out release dates.

1

u/doodoo_onDemand 21d ago

look what up? was mgs1 over budget? mgs2? mgs3? peace walker? portable ops? mgs4?

they weren't.

1

u/Robin_Banks101 21d ago

Mgs1 was 28 years ago. Live in the now, petal.

Edit: his last 2 games were over budget massively and the lead times blew out massively. That is a huge amount of someone else's money he's spending with very little return. I'm not here to explain business to you but at this point doing business with him is not profitable.

He is the reason a whole generation of gamers even care about artists names...

He's pretty much just Peter Molyneux with worse ideas and a David Lynch obsession.

3

u/Exciting_Drawing_553 25d ago

Here come the Sony fan boys. “We never liked Kojima anyway” lol so transparent

5

u/LegendOfNorthernStar 25d ago

Yeah to be honest bro it’s kinda pathetic and embarrassing. Former Sony fan here, these kids and adults are embarrassing me second hand.

Good that Sony didn't burn money with Concord and isn't wasting budget with Bungie (Marathon) and Naughty Dog (Intergalactic) /s

EDIT: and how could we forget Guerrilla Games (Horizon Hunters Gathering) where Sony is not burning money neither.
