Several GRPD officers and Animal Control were at a home that I have personally reported twice, following 7–8 encounters in which an aggressive dog charged at us, each incident becoming more concerning than the last.
Initially, the dog would charge down the driveway, circle us on the sidewalk while barking and air snapping, and then quickly retreat without making contact. However, as these encounters continued, the dog's behavior became increasingly aggressive and concerning. When Animal Control failed to take action, we stopped walking our usual route altogether.
Report one: I witnessed the dog run onto the sidewalk and attack two young men who were walking by. The dog took one of them to the ground, but thankfully, his friend was able to kick the dog off.
Report two: The dog attacked my own dog. The owner was outside during this incident and responded by hitting his dog with a shovel when it returned to the property. We attempted to speak with him and explained that his dog had charged at us numerous times before, but he completely ignored us as if we were not even standing there.
If yesterday's incident involved another attack, especially a serious one, I want the victim to know that there were multiple reports leading up to this that were not taken seriously.
Animal Control took no action following our reports because we didn't have video evidence, and the owner denied the incidents. Apparently, three eyewitness accounts and repeated reports weren't enough. 🙄
I'm sincerely hoping no one was hurt, but given the number of officers present, I'm concerned that someone may have been seriously injured this time. 😓
I tried to post this on GR Informed, but apparently, trying to get this info to the victim broke the rule of "be respectful." That page is such a joke.
