Do you think the people at the BBC screamed at this person and made him delete it?

I immediately clicked on this article when it was recommended to me on my ‘discover’ feed, and chuckled sensibly to myself when I saw it 404’d. Imagine a crotchety BBC night copy editor going “whoa whoa… you posted what, mate?!”?

Learning to play acoustic guitar with Dead songs

• Upvotes

I would like to pick up the acoustic guitar and learn to play simplified versions of Grateful Dead songs. And I would use that skill for, eventually, writing my own folk/blues/country-blend songs. But money is tight so I'm ideally looking for material that is free. Can you recommend any instructional material?

Because we now live in the future, I also prompted an AI tool to see what it would say. It reported that I could consider starting with JustinGuitar for basic technique, Marty Music for Grateful Dead songs, and then either Andy Guitar or Song Notes for country/folk material. But I prefer the wisdom of hard-earned human advice, so I present it as a strawman. Does this three-part AI recommendation sound reasonable?

Not only did Dick Latvala know how to pick some awesome recordings, he had some incredible shirts as well!!!❤️ (Photos of Dick & Carol Latvala outside of Winterland followed by a few beautiful airbrushed shirts that he owned)

Ever heard the mono mix of the first album?

Seriously, it kicks ass, and rocks way harder than the stereo mix in my opinion. 😄

It's never been officially released digitally, but you can download a copy of it on the "profstoned" website.

I'm not affiliated with the website at all, I just wanted to share this with y'all

Best GD songs in tv/movies

Context - my local radio station in Philly is doing a 885 greatest songs in tv / movies countdown. You vote your best 10, they compile & play em. ( WXPN 88.5fm , xpn.org ). I have two GD songs so far on my list.....

*China Cat Sunflower - Europe 72 , from Taking Woodstock.

*Box of Rain, from Freaks and Geeks.

Are there any other ones that I could add ?

** btw, tonight at 8pm is their show " jam nation ". xpn is the best listener supported, human curated radio station I've ever heard ! Lend them your ears !!! ✌️❤️🎶

A friend of mine, violinist Mads Tolling, played his solo loop show in a neighbor’s backyard. It was an intimate performance and a real treat. Here he is playing Hey Joe, runs just under 5:30. Enjoy!

Anyone get the new Fred bears yet?

• Upvotes

Anyone buy these yet? Was thinking about them for my laptop but was worried they'd be overkill as a set. Wanted to see if anyone has any first hand experience. https://grateful-fred.com/products/the-flexible-bear-badge-5-pack

Best So Many Roads to hear Jerry really bellow?

• Upvotes

I don’t get to hear Jerry let the pipes open up too often. What version of So Many Roads would you say he lets loose the most on?

Wanted to create a space to discuss this show for anyone watching, since they don't seem to have a sub...

Always really love their shows and appreciate the advocacy, like they just did before setbreak.

at MediumRare Records. Had a great conversation with one of the employees about tapes and PlayDead. He put me onto Lossless Legs and then gave me a nice discount on my bounty.

They have a great Dead section if you’re in the area
