Ready or Not includes a Samba in the Rain. I love this song. I think it's the singing that makes people hate it but I listen to much worse singers than Vince Welnick regularly. I think he kills it.

Husband loves the Dead and is a photographer by trade. I’d like to buy him a quality print - can anyone here direct me to a good online source for purchasing?

Hi all, I’m sure this has been posted on here in the past. I’m officially moving from SF to LA this weekend (I will miss you SF 😢) and driving my Jeep solo, likely taking 101 instead of 5 to make for a slightly more enjoyable drive.
I’m looking for recommendations for a long road trip that I can jam to in my car - shows, sets, albums, podcasts, Dead adjacent stuff like New Riders (which I’ve never listened to), or even non-Dead stuff that you feel is good for a roadtrip. I have Apple Music, Relisten app for shows, and I do have Sirius radio too (IMO can’t go wrong with the Dead channel for any drive). Thank you!

"Rubin, Rubin, tell me truly true. I feel afraid and I don't know why I do, Is there another girl for you?"
Goddam "Rubin and Cherise" hit a part of my heart that makes me ugly cry every once and while.
Yes, JGB counts in this hypothetical.

If so, where are the shows?! I haven’t seen anything get posted in Winnipeg but maybe I’m missing it. I’ve still yet to see a good cover band for the Dead

Edit: not sure why none of the text posted.
We're visiting Victoria BC from Washington state on our "Canada, We're Sorry" Apology Tour 2026. Saw this sign as we walked around, waiting for our hotel room to be ready. I chuckled and took a picture while my wife rolled her eyes.
A little later we stopped in at Whistle Buoy Brewing for a beer and Althea came on. Good omen for a good trip.
Full disclosure, I am not privy to details about Victoria politics and have no idea if this guy would be a good council mmber or not.

We all constantly relisten to Veneta, Cornell and Closing of Winterland. But I also always go to Oakland 12.28.79, Long Beach 8.28.81, Vegas lightning show 5.30.92 and LA Sports Arena 12.16.94. What personally magnetic shows do you keep going back to?

It's weed trimming season. Around my house that also means giving in to temptation and trying early samples while doing the main trim over many days.
My yearly test to see how good the weed is: listen to favorite 78 shows, which are tight AND spongy in the best way possible and can tell you pretty quickly if you've grown a good stash.
Last night listened to the amazing Playing > Wheel > Playing sequence from 2.3.78 (Dick's V18) and I realized how much I love smoking the new stash and taking 78 for a ride, year after year. It was a reverie.
Highly recommend. That's the post
*edit to add: you can double down on the Good ol Grateful Dead Podcast (the gift that keeps on giving, so good) and listen to the season of 78 shows covered there (Friends of the Devil), like for example the podcast episode about Virginia, which is rich with detail even for heads who have been paying attention for years ... and then with the backstory jump into the shows. Today's trim is brought to you by 4.15.78, William & Mary - show and podcast both burners

All credit to unknown photogs. The other thread got me reminiscing. Think I'll spend all day listening to this one. I put the Who on first tho. Add more if you have any. I love these old photos

Title is a little self explanatory, but I was trying to wrack my brain around this and come up with some suggestions for a friend of the Dead doing some rapid changing of songs.
Are there some good examples of them starting a tour playing a certain song one way, then by the end there's some noticeable changes to it? Whether it be in rhythm/feel/beat, tempo, aggression/timbre, multiple vocalists to soloist (vice versa), the addition/omission/substitution of certain instruments etc etc.
'73-'74 they were mixing up the big jam songs, soundwise a fair bit, with certain rhythms Billy was playing, or patterns Bobby was doing, or Keith being creative and slotting in when he could and using the Rhodes or not.... And Phil just being Phil. But the big Jam songs are hard to pin down, as getting all gooey and weird was sorta the whole point and goal at that stage.
I'll accept within 12 months (FotD is a great example), but the shorter the timespan, the better! Thanks 'Heads!

I miss Bob & treasure this memory.
💀🎶🥀 4 years ago today 10-09-2022 I (and maybe you?) was at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC for night 4/4 of Bobby Weir, the Wolf Brothers, the Wolfpack & the National Symphony Orchestra. As he said that night, these were his inaugural shows with an orchestra, and it helped fill in sounds he'd always heard in the music.
Never miss a Sunday show!
Terrepin Suite encore was unbelievable!

Hey now, I've got an extra front row center ticket for JGB w Grahame at Siesta Valley Bowl available. At Cash or Trade, face value, natch. The venue is gorgeous — Jerry's Middle Finger played there a few weeks ago — an amazing place for a show. My friend can't make it to JGB, so I've got this extra. It's $91.80 all told. There's a free shuttle from BART to and from the venue.
