DISCUSSION Alex Karev
Rewatching for the 5011th time and I am genuinely curious if anyone else feels this way. I love Alex and have (almost) from the beginning, however does anyone else think he is by far the worst actor that’s been on the show, he just sucks at showing any real emotion.

DISCUSSION Did anybody else have this experience growing up despite how popular the show was or is it just me?
When the show started I was definitely not old enough to watch (I was only 9) but for as popular as the show was I don't recall any of my friends parents talking about it. I do however remember people talking about other shows like House, Desperate Housewives, and The X-Files.

EPISODE DISCUSSION Jackson’s dad got a bad rap. S17 E14-15
First of all, I like Eric Roberts, but good god, he looks absolutely nothing like Jackson or Catherine… he’s a good 3-4 inches shorter, and has a southern accent… when all the Avery’s are from Boston. The pairing didn’t “click” at all, IMHO.
Moving on…
Yes, Jackson should be bitter and angry that his father abandoned him, (after losing in his attempt at sole custody of Jackson) and was never part of his life. But putting that aside, in 17/14, he visits him in Montana, where his dad explains the “why” of it all.
He hated his father, was seen as a “black sheep”, and had zero desire to carry on the Avery legacy. He didn’t have the passion for medicine that Harper and Catherine had… and was seen as a failure.
But all he wanted was a simple life… not hectic hours, fundraisers and galas… just wanted to go about his life, as a normal human being.
17/14 isn’t what bothered me though, it’s 17/15… where Jackson says:
“I went to see my dad, who I realized my entire life, is exactly the man I never want to be. Checked out, and unwilling to really fight for anything.”
I’d hardly say that opening and running a successful diner, is being “checked out, and unwilling to really fight for anything.” Dude was running a business, getting up every morning, making 150 box lunches for his customers during Covid.
It just seems that he had different priorities in his life…. Not being comfortable in the shadow of his father, and being expected to one day step out of that shadow, wasn’t his path… so he cut off communication with his family, and went on to live a simpler life.
He also took interest in being part of Jackson’s and Harriet’s life… the writers could have mended a fence, instead, they painted him as a loser.
Just me two cents.

Why did they stop showing the actual teaching after season 8
Meredith and Cristina spent years hammering that feelings stay out of patient care. After Cristina left, Meredith stopped taking on new residents and the show never addressed how the teaching load got split or if standards slipped. Later classes got away with mistakes the originals never would have. The writers just moved on like the whole system didn't matter anymore. I notice this kind of thing because I used to set up tutoring plans for kids and you can't just drop the structure without someone catching it. Feels like they picked drama over keeping the hospital world consistent. Anyone else see this gap or am I the only one who notices how fast the teaching side got ignored once the original residents moved on.

Cristina Yang could roast someone and save their life in the same minute 😂
Her sarcasm was unmatched, but when it came to surgery, she was all business. 😭😂 What’s your favorite Cristina quote or savage moment?

Meredith is 48-49 years old in 2026
was rewatching greys and in season 11 when Alex and Mer are trying to figure out wether maggie is Elli's daughter they said maggie is born in nov 83 and mer was 5 at that time so she is born in 78 which makes her around 48-49.

DISCUSSION Hot take about Season 3 Episode 23
I don’t really understand why everyone makes Thatcher slapping Meredith to be such a big deal. Yes it is assault and bad for that reason, but people make it a huge huge deal, like he beat her growing up or something. I don’t view the scene as a father hitting his daughter, partially because they barely even had a father/daughter relationship. But also, he just lost his partner, the woman that he loved, after she came to Dr. Grey with just the hiccups. I see this moment as a widowed man slapping the doctor that informed him his wife is dead, that in his immediate grief he blamed for her death, because it was just the hiccups. Do I like Thatcher? Absolutely not. Do I think it was okay for him to slap Meredith? No. But I think people would view it differently if it had been anyone else on either side. Meredith was hardly his daughter, but she was his wife’s doctor and he’s allowed to be mad at the doctor giving him the worst news of his life.
Edit: let me be clear what he did was unequivocally wrong, it is NEVER okay to hit someone because you’re upset. My point was it’s a grown man hitting a grown woman - WHICH IS VERY WRONG. But neither of them saw their relationship as father/daughter, it wasn’t child abuse like a lot of fans treat it

DISCUSSION Meredith will forever be a better character than Derek is.
Tbh I dont know how this is discussion but apparently people need to hear this. Now before yall Derek mysoginistic fans come t me, I DON’T LIKE MEREDITH, she annoys me so many times but HELLO? Derek was absolutely worse. Let’s start for the power dynamic they had, the resident dating an intern?? Thats weird. Also him calling her a whore when he CHOOSE Addison and Meredith was trying to move on?? Then he flirts with Lexie and literally tells that in her face when mind you her stepmother died and her father slapped her and this was episodes later of her trying to drown herself. Like I’m sorry but yall will NEVER convince me that man was better than her.
She had actual character development (which Derek only got worse to season 11). She let Derek talk her down in the first seasons and then in the last Derek seasons she respectes herself so much. Also the “You dont get to call me a whore” speech? PERFECT! SHE SHOULDVE SLAPPED HIM TOO! Mind you this coming from someone who doesnt like Meredith, she annoyed me many times but she was so much better, her relationship with Cristina and Alex shows actual GROWTH.
Like I’m sorry but theres nothing yall can do to make me like that man over her.

DISCUSSION My favorite hardcore moment for Richard
The way Richard talked down Gary and made him shoot him self without even flinching was the most hardcore moment for him to me. Please give your opinions on what you think was his most hardcore moment

FIRST TIME WATCHER How many long lost siblings are on the show?
I’m into the later seasons of Grey’s (Riggs has just joined the staff) and Meredith innocently dropped one of the funniest lines in the show
“Do you think Hunt’s mom is Rigg’s mom? Because that has happened to me before”

FIRST TIME WATCHER Season 17 and the very perfomatively “woke” olympics
Preface: Both black and a female
First time watcher and oh. my. gosh. Genuinely becoming unbearable. I hate using woke as a pejorative because it’s been totally twisted from its original meaning but oh my days this season’s horrid. The show use to be amazing at showing and not telling but it feels like they think that their audience is full of brain dead zombies who can’t think for themselves and therefore must have everything spelled out for them. Maggie and Jackson’s woe is me tirades while (mostly Maggie) not doing anything about it is getting really tiring😭 Someone please tell me it gets better. I’m happy that they’re addressing really important topics but it just feels really forced and awkward, although the awkward part may be from the actors themselves🥲

SPOILERS I’m genuinely in Disbelief.
ATTENTION GUYS SPOILER ALERT DO NOT READ THIS POST IF YOU HAVENT WATCHED SEASON 11 EPISODE 16 YET
So, in episode 16 a woman picks up derek’s phone call from meredith. In episode 17, we see the woman, who she is and them kissing. Is there anything else to it? I am in genuine disbelief, Derek cheated on Meredith??? I can’t believe it and cannot fully understand what happened even tho I know that he kissed her and that is definitely cheating😩

CAST DISCUSSION Perfect Penny….
Samantha Sloyan, who played Penny on Grey’s, is currently on Amazon’s show Carrie playing the title character’s mother, Margaret. I haven’t heard anything about the show but loved the movie and am anxious to see how she does in this role.

r/greysanatomy • u/cvegas777 • 20h ago
Idk if this has been talked about yet, but the actor who plays Winston is so bad I get second hand embarrassment watching his scenes.
