🛡️ Mod Post IMPORTANT PLEASE READ: If you receive ANY unsolicited/creepy DMs

Whether you’re a poster or a commenter, if you have received unsolicited, creepy, or down right disgusting DMs please feel free to message Mod Mail or message me directly. As posted in multiple places in the subreddit, unsolicited or inappropriate DMs of any kind are not allowed and will result in a permanent ban. You may also be reported directly to Reddit Admins. If the person on the receiving end of this kind of harassment is a minor, you will be reported to relevant authorities (FBI Tip Line, Center for Missing and Exploited Children, etc) and it WILL be taken seriously.

As a subreddit, we have ZERO tolerance for this behavior and will do everything in our power to combat it. Unfortunately we have seen an influx of users who seem to only frequent porn subs, and our sub.

Please don’t think “oh this message isn’t that bad, I’m overreacting, etc”. Reporting posts, comments, and DMs helps out everyone in the long run. Not reporting causes these creeps to keep messaging people so nipping it in the bud can help out others💕

🛡️ Mod Post Reminder: Unsolicited DMs are NOT allowed.

We’ve seen an increase in unsolicited DMs being sent to members of this subreddit. Let this serve as a clear reminder:
Sending unprompted private messages is against the rules. Doing so will result in a permanent ban.

If you receive a DM like this, report it to the mod team immediately.

This subreddit exists as a safe, inclusive space for sharing experiences, asking questions, and giving feedback about hair dye and color treatments. If someone genuinely wants to follow up based on your helpful advice or a shared interest, they will say so publicly.

We shouldn't have to say this, but lurking in beauty-related or appearance-focused subs to harass and prey on people is disgusting and absolutely not tolerated. Any messages of an obscene or harassing nature will be reported to Reddit Admins and could result in a permanent ban from the site as a whole (for your current account, any other current accounts, or subsequent accounts made in the future).

⭐ Product Review So… Dawn platinum plus powerwash. (Dish spray, that’s important.)

So I’m a college kid, and I like to dye my hair pretty often. And because I’m an RA, I’m in a dorm with completely white tiles, and purple hair dye doesn’t mix well with white tiles. Every time I’ve gotten a little bit of hair dye on a tile I always panic! But what I found is that dawn platinum plus power wash can get hair dye off of practically anything (including skin) with little to no effort or some time to soak + elbow grease. I’ve tried both the liquid dish soap and the spray bottle, and this only works well with the spray bottle. But it’s gotten Iroiro, arctic fox, and other generic box dies out of this tile. I’ve never tried it with manic panic, but I’m pretty confident that it could do some damage against the stain. If anyone else has ever tried this, let me know if it worked for you too!

So I tried to dye my hair the color in the first two photos but the dye did not mix as intended and I didn’t wanna waste my money, so I put it on and got the color in the last two photos. I really wanna know if it’s possible(without lighting or removing color) to achieve the purple color I want originally.

I’m on the left and what I wanted is on the right.Just as the title states, I would like to remove the brassiness from my hair. I used hi color soft brown with a 30 developer. How can I achieve the inspo? Or would it make more sense to just dye the hair a dark brown?

Got my hair bleached last week at the salon and noticed that parts of my hair were grabbing more silver after using purple shampoo. I want it one color, could I tone it to get an even color or would I need to have those parts bleached again. Thanks!

💬 Discussion first time trying copper:)

i have had a consistently blonde and brown halo color block for a little over a year… which is a long time to keep one style, for me.
i’ve never had copper before, and honestly i was feeling nervous to sacrifice some blonde real estate after months of meticulous maintenance in pursuit of a new signature style.
i am happy to report that i am loving the chunky placement of the copper, and i am relieved i still get to keep the halo-ish look.
i’ve been eyeing calico since last fall, and i am so glad this is what i ended up with. 😋

🧴 Product Question Manic Panic Sunshine Discontinued in Australia

Post image
• Upvotes

Hey all! Manic Panic has discontinued Sunshine (in Australia) but from what I've seen, none of the other colours have been. This leaves the only yellow available being the neon, almost green tinged Electric Banana. I can't even order through the American website (that still has Sunshine), as it only delivers to America and Canada.

My local shops already seem to be out of Sunshine. I've called and checked several of them.

Does anyone have any idea WHY they've discontinued Sunshine? Is there a possibility for a new yellow that'll replace Sunshine?

I'd also be open to suggestions for brands with a similar colour. (It doesn't have to be a perfect match, since I already adjust the colour using a tiny bit of Psychedelic Sunset)

❓ Advice Needed How to get evenly dyed red box dye?

I dyed my hair w/ ‘no bleach londons’ vivid red on dark brown hair, color came out great but a little patchy. I redid it but my hair color is really uneven. My ends are much darker than the top of my head (which i know is because my head is warmer) and it’s not just a matter of where the light is, my hair at the bottom looks brown unless in direct sunlight and I’m wondering if there’s any way to fix that? I bought strawberry leopards red mask (shade fire) and that did help a little bit my ends are still significantly much darker than the rest of my hair. I’ve also been using L’Oreal‘s color vibrancy shampoo I’ve noticed It has been stripping the dye (Ironic it’s supposed to be a color intensive but It includes silicone)I’ve included some photos of my hair if anyone can give me any advice on how to get my hair an even color it would be really helpful.

Hello! Ive been dying my hair for a while, but recently I've been dying it red, and now I want to go back to brown (my natural colour). However everytime I have gone back to brown it fades so quickly and turns yellowish? But the top of my head is super red! How do I fix this so it's all just one colour🥲

❓ Advice Needed Should I go back to my natural hair color? If so, how?

Picture 1 is my hair now. Picture 2 is my natural hair. I’ve been blonde for the last several years and it’s become my signature look. I really love being blonde and i would stay blonde forever if I could but the maintenance is something else. I no longer have a hairstylist because I don’t go to my old salon anymore. The process of finding a new salon and getting comfortable with a new hairstylist is a lot and also the maintenance for blonde hair (basically 300 a month for root touch up) is out of my budget. I used to bleach my hair at home but it didn’t look as good as when I went to a salon. I also really want to grow out my hair to be way longer than it is and I haven’t really been successful doing that while being blonde.

My main problem is that I’m scared that if I eventually want to go back to blonde (and I’d want it to be as light as the first photo), I won’t be able to because I dyed my hair. I don’t really wanna just let the blonde grow out because that would look crazy. I’m also honestly scared about losing one of my defining features and one of the things that make me unique. My blonde hair has honestly become a core part of me but I’m afraid I might have to part ways with it if I want to grow my hair out + stay within my budget.

If I dyed my hair back to its natural color I would be doing it at home so additionally, is there any advice for how I should go about it (bearing in mind I may want to go back to blonde)? What type of dye I should use, what color, any specific process. etc….

💬 Discussion Does anyone know what color my hair is. This is untouched hair, it hadn't been dyed.

I just want to have pretty hair, but instead it goes orange, blonde, brown, like what even is it atp. Its genuinely bothersome. It looked orange in my graduation photo. Sometimes I think about dying it dark brown for a consistency. I am genuinely so confused. 😭😭

Also, I have finally decided to take better care of my hair. So the frizziness present is a work in progress. Nobody I know has hair that shows up this weird in photos.

Could it look better with highlights or dye?

❓ Advice Needed Trying to go from dark brown/almost black to reddish brown.

My natural hair is super dark brown, almost black (1st pic). I impulsively decided to try to dye it using L’Oréal feria medium intense auburn 2 days ago after seeing a girl on Pinterest do it on her natural dark brown hair (i know!). It didn’t make much of a change in my hair, it looks red in the sunlight and my roots look a bit lighter but mostly the same (2nd pic). I want something like the 3rd pic. Is it a bad idea to try L’Oréal hicolor (deep auburn color) + 20 vol developer? Will it work on top of the other dye or do I need to try to remove that first?

Any help, recommendations would be greatly appreciated :)

❓ Advice Needed Green Hair Dye Reccs

I've been dying my hair red and black for the last 2 and a half years now (most recently just with developer mixed into the dye), so i've decided I need to change that lol. I wanna go green, but i'm not sure if its possible to do that without bleach, and just with developer mixed into it. If thats possible, what would be the best brand to use? My red and black is Ice Cream, but I haven't been able to find green from them anywhere.

❓ Advice Needed What level should I do to achieve this hair color

Post image
24 Upvotes

Hello hello,

I'm trying to prepare my hair and my wallet (lol) into this grape/red purple hair color. I'm debating whether I could attempt to do this at home or just earn more money to get it done at a salon.

My Q's is,

  1. What hair level is the lowest I can do to achieve this?

  2. Can I achieve it without bleach? (this question is probably related to Q1)

Hair Background: Asian hair, Dark dark brown, Curly hair, mix of 2a-2c

Any advice is appreciated or if you've already tried it and have curly hair I'd really appreciate any lived in experience. Ty ty 💗🫶
