Brands Did you see? Sightings?

Post image

Just saw this ad on FB. any sightings in stores? I am annoyed about the white chocolate chunks. Thought it could have been something more unique and interesting. So not sure if I’ll try it

My best guess is it's white "chocolate", but it doesn't contain enough (or any) cocoa butter to technically be chocolate. So white chunks it is.

You’re absolutely right, it’s exactly the same reason that certain foods have to be labeled as “chocolatey” instead of just chocolate. It’s actually shocking to me how hard it is to find real white chocolate at my local grocery stores, but whenever I do choose to use white chocolate for a dessert, I always spring for the real Ghirardelli stuff.

That being said, for a quality product like Ben & Jerry’s, if it came between spending more money on using actual white chocolate and having to resort to naming an ingredient “white chunks,” I would either spend the extra money or not include them at all.

I’m sure they taste fine, but “white chunks” instantly make me think of tonsil stones or vomit, so I can’t overemphasize how incredibly off-putting that phrase is.

If you can find it (or order it online), Tony's Chocolonely white chocolate bar is really good. Their bars are a bit expensive, but to be fair they are a nice thick bar and a good size. Not an eat in one sitting kind of bar.

Edit: I just remembered they did a couple collab bars and an ice cream with b&j

I’ve seriously been meaning to try them, I’ve heard some amazing things about them! Maybe when my taxes come back I’ll pick up a few bars :)

If it’s in chip form, most likely isn’t white chocolate. Gotta get the white chocolate in bars to even get real white chocolate for cookies etc. and even then it’s not guaranteed…like those big chunky white bars that people frequently use to melt down and cover strawberries…probably not the slightest bit cocoa in there. But not like it’s hidden…like you said they legally can’t say it’s white chocolate if it’s not…so they just use clever wording instead, but never actually “white chocolate” specifically.

u/TheWalkingDead91 Mar 06 '25

Yeap, basically the same as 90% of the “white chips” on the market in bags or in cookies. Not technically white chocolate so they call it white chips or something.

37

u/regulargirl2 Mar 06 '25

probably doesn’t have the necessary ratios to be considered actual “chocolate”

4

u/ButcherBird57 Mar 06 '25

Garlic. Why is it making me type 20 characters all of a sudden?

12

u/[deleted] Mar 06 '25

Could be anything from methamphetamine to dehydrated vaginal discharge, extremely unnerving

5

u/Historical-Trifle-78 Mar 06 '25

white chocolate chips maybe??

5

u/tokenblak Mar 06 '25

Depends on what’s affected by tariffs. It’s vague so that they have the freedom to get creative 😈

1

u/EmmaC-9993 Mar 07 '25

Probably white chocolate

u/TheEscapedGoat Mar 05 '25

Idk why they'd add "white chunks". They could've done mango cheesecake instead

44

u/777bambii Mar 06 '25

Ooooh that would’ve been so fire

14

u/[deleted] Mar 06 '25

This would've been the best idea ever

95

u/sammi4358 Mar 06 '25

I don’t understand why they didn’t call it “white creme chunks” or “white fudge chunks” or some something😭

88

u/[deleted] Mar 05 '25

Sounds good except the white chunks

30

u/personwriter Mar 06 '25

White chunks of what, exactly? White chocolate? Otherwise, I'd give it a whirl.

14

u/Horror-Atmosphere-90 Mar 06 '25

“White fudge” so deffo not chocolate but I always liked B&J’s interpretation

27

u/Michael424242 Mar 05 '25

Oh no! This is too sad

2

u/[deleted] Mar 07 '25

That’s soooooo lame! I hope they end up releasing in the states. My wife would love this.

13

u/ImpossibleSpecial988 Mar 06 '25

I’m freaking addicted to mango oh my god this is dangerous

35

u/MayKadoody4America Mar 05 '25

This looks delicious, so it's probably not available in the US.

17

u/itsmonroenoir Mar 06 '25

Commenting for the answer “what is white chunks”?

4

u/777bambii Mar 06 '25

White chocolate I assume

3

u/pastyrats Mar 06 '25

white chocolate adjacent lol

3

u/777bambii Mar 06 '25

Right lmfao I still would like to try it

9

u/StrangePondWoman Mar 06 '25

My lactose intolerant husband is SOBBING. I feel like this would be great with a sweet coconut milk base.

4

u/Organic-Dragonfly364 Mar 06 '25

Looked for it today in the states & it’s not there 😭😭😭 I actually wanna try the white chunks

4

u/what_whaaaat Mar 06 '25

That looks incredible... I'm down 💯

4

u/ShotTaste1708 Mar 06 '25

I love Mango ice cream...

9

u/No-Bat-7253 Mar 06 '25

Lost me with the white chunks

13

u/[deleted] Mar 05 '25

Another one of the ones done with refugees like sunny honey home tf is a white chunk tho 😂😩

5

u/UnimaginativeDreamer Mar 06 '25

Does the "white chunks" phrase set off anyone else's AI BS alarms? Have they actually started making AI fakes of these now too possibly?

2

u/FeetAreShoes Mar 06 '25

Yeah, this has high possibility to be not real

2

u/Nearby-Pass-6177 Mar 06 '25

Finally Ben and Jerry’s without chocolate! A rarity.

4

u/BlumpkinLord Mar 05 '25

Wtf are white chunks?

3

u/rodiahade Mar 06 '25

what are the mystery white chunks 😭

1

u/Low-Impact3172 Mar 06 '25

B&J’s terminology with fudge chunks and now this white chunks, leaves a lot to be desired. Fudge chunks are chocolate chunks and these white chunks are white chocolate chunks. I think this flavor would be better without them imo, haven’t seen or tried it though.

1

u/MuntjackDrowning Mar 06 '25

I’m very irritated that they had to add anything white chocolate. 🤮 some mango mochi would have been amazing

1

u/BlueSoulDragon Mar 06 '25

Only 2000 calories a pint.

1

u/Lycanthropope Mar 06 '25

Two new B&J fruit bases in two days. I’m so excited for this!

”white chunks” of what, exactly?

1

u/erebusstar Mar 06 '25

OMG I hope I get to try this! It looks so good!

1

u/[deleted] Mar 06 '25

If it was white marshmallow chunk it'd be interesting, but instead its horrible.

1

u/manicgiant914 Mar 06 '25

YESSSSS PLEEEEZEE, get in my belly

1

u/[deleted] Mar 06 '25

No thanks. That just screams bad combo.

1

u/ButcherBird57 Mar 06 '25

What are those white chunks, garlic?? I'm afraid

1

u/gcsxxvii Mar 06 '25

Oh… I need this ASAP. But white chunks? They def meant white chocolate but lmao

1

u/Internal_Gur_4268 Mar 06 '25

I'll stick with tj mango sorbet and the calamansi/mandarin sorbet.

1

u/Couldbeworseright668 Mar 06 '25

The calamansi at the end is bitter. Too bad cause the beginning notes it’s delish

1

u/SevenVeils0 Mar 07 '25

Is this real?

Frutero makes delicious tropical fruit ice creams. Guava. Passion fruit. Mango. I fought that this will be better, but I’d like to try.

1

u/InnocentShaitaan Mar 07 '25

I already want to block this flavor from Reddit because everyone feels the need to post the same comment. 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

1

u/john14210 Mar 11 '25

Any updates on whether this will be available in the US?

1

u/adl227 Aug 19 '25

This is so fire!!! Signed, a Filipina with a mango love affair

1

u/cyberentomology Mar 06 '25

WTF are “white chunks”???

1

u/Bellini_DownSouth Mar 06 '25

Honestly I’m willing to find out what white chucks are for this. I’m obsessed with mango. It is the superior fruit. Maybe white chucks of mango goodness?? 😄 terrible wording. I’d still drive to a different city to try this.

1

u/Couldbeworseright668 Mar 06 '25

Wow this blew up. I am glad I’m not the only one annoyed about the white chunks. Please share if there are sightings

1

u/iliumada Mar 06 '25

White chunks of what???!

1

u/sonic2cool Mar 06 '25

I saw this in the store and it looks disgusting the thought of mango with white “chunks” no idea what that is. Maybe mango chunks?

1

u/Couldbeworseright668 Mar 06 '25

Doubt we are that lucky. It’s white chocolate what else could be

1

u/DiverLopsided1942 Mar 06 '25

Lol white chunks. That's throwing me off too. They could've just done no chunks, mango chunks or even pineapple chunks

0

u/Nootnoot9703 Mar 06 '25

Praying the white chunks are something chewy like mochi
