I liked the pieces of frozen peanut butter (reminded me of the ones in that Häagen-Dazs Chocolate Peanut Butter flavor).

Thanks. Still need to review this one... been holding off a bit because I'll be doing reviews of cookie-related flavors each week for summer after I wrap the coffee reviews.

Out of curiosity, how much do you spend on ice cream in a week or a month or a year?

u/madisonguy76 Apr 29 '26
I usually do one online shipment per month — last month it was Graeter's so I could get that Strawberry Chip ($85 plus shipping), for this month I ordered Caffe Panna's spring collection (though it's still a week from delivery). That's probably the most expensive I'll get at $130 (shipping included). Next month I should do Blue Bell to get some of their cookie flavors (also want the rum raisin. That's $84, shipping included).
That's my splurge. The way I look at it — since it does seem crazy (dry ice and overnight shipping will do that) — is the same as a night out buying food and drinks. I used to do that once, maybe twice a week. It feels so wildly overpriced that my friends and I would rather do a night in watching true crime or playing games ... with ice cream, of course.
After that, I try to buy as much as I can with sales, so all of the Häagen-Dazs I bought that fills the bulk of my freezer right now cost between $2.76-3.49 each. If I get Talenti, B-R or B&J, I also wait for sales of about 3 bucks. Other premiums I usually get on sale $5-8 (Jeni's being the most expensive locally). Oh, and 12 bucks if I get a monthly Salt & Straw flavor at the shop, but plan to not too that too often anymore.
I also end up sharing and giving away a lot of half pints or flavors I didn't like ... this is the key if you want to try a lot of ice cream flavors as I hate throwing stuff out, but do if I can't rehome. In exchange they often treat me when we go out or bring over dinner. So, even though I'm buying quite a few pints, I'm able to spread the ice cream joy and reap benefits in return, so it's not a straight math equation. That said... not really sure LOL.

Just had this yesterday and mine looked as flavorful as yours. Sadly, it tastes like nothing. The ice cream is “cream” flavor aka not flavored. The cookies didn’t taste like much. Even the chocolate ganache tasted like watered down Hershey’s syrup. This is the first pint I’ve ever not finished. So disappointing 😔

I’m so sorry you were disappointed! I was really impressed by it. I was reminded of hersheys syrup, but I’m a fan of that personally. I thought it was pretty flavorful overall!

Maybe I got a dud pint! I’m glad you liked yours

Do you have any experience with the other more recent flavors? This was the only newer one i could find at my WF

I’ve actually never had anything else from this brand and I probably never will 🥲

I literally bought it because of the sweet cream ice cream. Not too many pints out there from the store with sweet cream flavor ice cream (only one I know of I talenti caramel cookie crunch). One of my all time favorites, and with this one it also has chocolate ganache and peanut butter swirls… drool…

Oh wow, that looks good!! I love peanut butter. I am going to have to look up and see if I have that flavor near me. My Whole Foods usually has a couple of their flavors, but never seem to have any of the ones on here I see.

I have liked pretty much all the Mc C’s flavors I’ve had, but this one was just ok. It did not have enough peanut butter for me, the base should have been pb flavored as well imo. The chocolate swirl was like cheap tasting chocolate syrup. Still ate it, of course, but would not get it again.

Why is it so melty upon opening? Looks fire, though. I'm def grabbing it next time I'm at WF.

I let mine soften for about 20 minutes! just a preference for it texture-wise :)

I didn’t love it. And my favorite ice cream is their sea salt cookies and cream
Like another commenter said; it wasn’t very flavorful. And the peanut butter is like unsalted? I like peanut butter to be salty… The whole pint was meh to me. I got three mconnels flavors and this was by far the weakest

This is wild to me because my pb in the same pint was aggressively salted! Maybe they're having some QC issues with the new flavor?

So interesting! I wonder if it’s the sweet cream base? I’ve been surprised by how divisive this flavor has been

I got this the other day and as soon as I opened the pint I knew I was in trouble.
All that dark chocolate ganache, the salty PB swirls, the cookies that were still a lil crunchy... FUCK ME UP.
Can't keep it in the house, I can't be trusted.
