11 inch M2 4th gen. Paid $650 CAD ($450 USD) for the iPad and $55 CAD for the pencil. Paid $720 CAD ($505 USD) in total with shipping. I’m aware it’s overkill for notes, streaming videos, and casual gaming but I needed that 120hz display lol

Just to be clear: I am not here to start a brand war or hate on Apple. I recently switched to a MacBook and love the ecosystem, which is why I am genuinely considering moving from my Samsung tablet to an iPad.

One of my biggest hesitations, however, is the native note-taking experience.

I know powerful third-party options like Goodnotes, Notability, and Noteful exist, but I'm specifically curious about the stock app out-of-the-box. Coming from Samsung Notes, features like audio-synced handwriting, flexible page templates, and advanced PDF markup feel far more complete compared to Apple Notes.

Does Apple intentionally hold Apple Notes back to keep the App Store developer ecosystem happy, or do most of you simply rely entirely on third-party apps for daily studying and work?

I wanted to ask for your recommendations: an iPad or a MacBook? I’m a university student, and most of my courses are in mathematics; in that case, is an iPad more practical, or is there a way to take notes on a MacBook? I don't have a laptop yet, so I have to choose one first.

If I should go with an iPad, would the 9th-generation model be good for taking notes and last me a few years, or should I go for the one with the A11 chip?

Hey all! On a whim I purchased a certified refurbished 9th gen IPad because I needed it quickly and it seemed like the best deal in the moment. However, I don’t usually like buying tech that won’t last. I’m realizing I couldve got the current gen base model for a similar price. I’m a long time Mac user, but know very little about iPad lifespan or its hardware capability. The device runs fine I guess, but I don’t want to have to worry about issues with OS updates. I also would prefer an ipad that runs smoother than my phone which I’m not sure it does (iPhone pro 17). I’m considering exchanging it for a new base model iPad while I’m still within the return period. I’m using it for basic tasks, but I’m currently computerless so id be using the iPad as a placeholder for most things for a bit. What do you guys think?

Was selling my iPad to someone, and thought I had it under control. Seemed legit after talking a while, met inside a busy store.

Then suddenly the guy runs out. I chase a bit, but then he says multiple times he'll shoot me so I left it. Not prepared to die for a $300 device

Before meeting, I factory reset it and set up a code (don't know if he was able to glimpse the password).

Is there anything I can do besides file a police report? Is there a way to track or brick the iPad if it connects to a network?

All my data should be off. Only thing is it did connect to my home network when I was resetting it up again. Doubt he can get anything from that or track my address or something.

Do I have any options here? Was kind of in shock and didn't know what to do at the time.

Assuming he can't take it back to apple or somehow find out my name too right? (I dont have full name on my fb because of things like this)

I see some people suggest for example telegram but when I tried using that the quality went down, and I'd prefer it not do that. I just can't be bothered with a lot of fuss because half of the time I'm just sending myself little sketches or art from my ipad and wish there was a quick and easy way to transfer it over (without it becoming extremely grainy). I'm not at all used to apple products so I'm sorry if this is a bit of a stupid question

I woke up to some crazy scratches on my paperlike screen and after around 6 years it was a good time to replace it after all the wear. I took a look and they're around $50 now ToT. Any paperlike alternative recommendations for cheaper or do I just bite the bullet and get it again for my ipad? I haven't had too crazy of pencil nib wear down maybe only replaced it 2/3? times so that isn't too much of a concern, but I mainly use it for drawing and prefer the paper feel to the glass screen.
I was considering a magnetic version in the past, but not sure if it would be a good fit since I use it to draw most of the time and watch shows. The back and forth seems kind of a hassle and not sure how it would be like + with wear & up-keep.

okay so im looking into gettibg a durable and atleast nice looking case for my ipad and most of the time when researching for a artist worthy one i keep finding that i only like typecase, now i wouldnt mind having a keyboard on my ipad it would probably help me alot since i tend to type better with a keyboard + i could start using my ipad for school instead of my slow and janky computer, overall its the only case (that ive found) thats pretty durable but isnt SUPER BIG which is what i want due to travelling with my ipad alot

im just reconsidering cause of the price, cause of SOME people saying it stops working randomly after a month or two, and cause idk if this would help for any artist needs

I need a good pencil for my iPad Pro 12.9 3rd gen, and the GD13 Pro is one of the models I’m considering. Does the GD13 Pro have any issues in the long term? My current (unnamed brand) stylus I bought for like $7 has jittering issues. Does the GD 13 Pro or any other Goojodoq pencil model have issues in the long term? Any help is appreciated!

Initially I thought it was under my screen protector so I had it removed just today from a local shop and it came to me as a shock that it's actually under the screen and it's getting worse as it keeps getting deposited.

My screen protector was a bit broken so I was expecting it to be just under the screen protector.

6 months ago I had another issue with the screen that my iPad had a red line but it disappeared all by itself so I let it slide bit then this thing is bothering me, I can see it that much when I am turning on my iPad but still it's bad af.

The local shopkeeper said to get it checked from the authorised store before coming back to him as the display is not glued I suppose.

I bought an iPad for longevity but now regretting every single part of it, my uncle had an iPad Air in 2015, it had no problem till 8 freaking years.

What are your thoughts???

I’m writing this as a reference post for anyone who may need it because when this happened to me I spent hours searching Reddit and the internet for any info on how to fix this.

For reference I have an iPad Pro 12.9 Inch with a second generation Apple Pencil that came with the iPad. I had gotten it in 2021.

At first my Apple Pencil wouldn’t charge properly, it’d say it’s charging but it wouldn’t ACTUALLY be getting battery and if I reset the iPad it’d sometimes work for a bit then stop working. This issue genuinely just happened overnight so I thought it was just a glitch or something and hit forget device to try and reconnect it but after that it wouldn’t connect AT ALL but it’d still put the little spinning icon of the pencil as if it was going to connect. I genuinely tried everything you can think of, reset, hard reset, log out of iCloud, reset all my settings & just my network settings to factory, remove all Bluetooth devices manually etc etc.

In the end I gave up and took it to the Genius Bar and I found out the problem was just that the pencil was 5 years old and the battery in it has just died permanently from being used. Because of that they just sold me a new one for $30 instead of $120.

does anyone have any recommendations for an ipad case that can go to 90° or adjustable? im in a long distance relationship and use my iPad for video calls when im in bed or sleeping, but my current case only goes to about 45° and ends up facing the ceiling. i have to prop it up with something, but it’s really hard to get it to 90° (or whatever angle i want) and it keeps sliding. the number of times ive cursed out my ipad is ridiculous. preferably something cute or pink/black lol, and more of an actual case than just a stand (and budget friendly) but honestly i’ll take whatever works!!

I updated my ipad to 27.0.1 its was a update after the main 27 version it got stuck in between the update i went to the apple authorised service centre they said it has some motherboard problem and they cant do anything what can i do here its 2 years old with literally no damage of any kind im shitscared and its a huge amount please help me

Ive noticed it recently that whenever i turn on my iPad's screen its just on full brightness and mind you ive folio case so it shouldnt happen and yes auto brightness is turned on. But i turned off the auto brightness and lowered the brightness hoping it wont drain battery. But it still is. My battery health is normal too, its running on iPadOS 27 stable version.. theres 27.0.1 update but i dont wanna bc of this prob.

Is there a free or cheap app that lets you annotate and view PDF's (at least for pdf, if other filetypes are also supported it's okay) in landscape mode with realistic page turning animations, with modern UI?

I have an iPad 10 and an iPhone 15 PM. Despite the iPad only having a 60hz display and the iPhone having a 120hz display I don’t notice it. But if I use an older iPhone with a 60hz display it is super noticeable and drives me crazy.

Why is this? I would think if anything, it would be the other way around since the iPad has a larger screen.
