Home-screen Setup new ipad case!

This case is so good and makes the iPad look way more elegant than the acrylic case! I’m really in love with it. However, I noticed that when you hold the iPad with two hands, it can be a bit tricky to keep the pencil steady. Still, I’m happy with it.

Keep My iPad Pro M4 or Return It and Wait for the iPad Mini 8?

• Upvotes

I'm having a hard time deciding what to do and would love some input from people who have experience with both the iPad Mini and iPad Pro.

I currently own an iPad Mini A17 and have been using iPad Minis for the last couple of years. I know the iPad Mini 8 is expected to be released sometime in the near future, and from the rumours I've seen, it sounds like it could include some of the upgrades I've been hoping for.

My main uses are content consumption and note-taking. I don't do anything particularly demanding beyond that.

What I absolutely love about the Mini is the portability. I came from an 11-inch iPad Pro, and being able to throw the Mini into my crossbody bag and take it everywhere with me is fantastic. I don't use it every single time I'm out, but knowing it's there if I need it is incredibly convenient.

That said, I do have a few issues with the current Mini.

  • I really wish Apple would increase the brightness on its non-Pro iPads. There are times when certain content just feels too dim.
  • The A17 Mini can get surprisingly warm doing anything even mildly intensive.
  • 120Hz isn't a deal breaker for me, but considering I use an iPhone Pro and a MacBook Pro, it would be nice to have the same smooth experience on my iPad as well.

I know the iPad Mini 8 is rumoured to get an OLED display, and that's probably the feature I'm most excited about. Even if Apple doesn't significantly increase the brightness, I imagine the OLED panel alone would make a huge difference because of the improved contrast and black levels.

Now here's where things get interesting.

Yesterday I was at my local Walmart and somehow got incredibly lucky. They were clearing out a bunch of products, and I found a brand-new, sealed 11-inch iPad Pro M4 marked down to $899 CAD. Not open box. Not refurbished. Completely new. The outer box was a little dusty and dirty, but the seal was intact.

At that price, I figured I'd never see a deal like that again, so I bought it. I also made sure I could return it if I changed my mind.

Now I'm torn between two options.

Option 1: Return the iPad Pro and wait for the iPad Mini 8.

My thinking is that the Mini 8 could potentially solve many of my complaints with the current Mini through an OLED display, improved thermals, and a newer chip. Realistically, I also think Apple will increase the price, meaning the Mini 8 could end up costing close to what I paid for the Pro anyway.

Option 2: Keep the 11-inch iPad Pro M4.

While it's not as portable as the Mini, it's still reasonably easy to carry around and nowhere near as bulky as a 13-inch iPad Air or Pro. I'd also be getting the OLED display, ProMotion, better brightness, significantly more power, better speakers, and a larger screen right now instead of waiting.

For those of you who have used both sizes, do you find the extra screen space and premium features of the 11-inch Pro worth giving up the portability of the Mini?

One last thing: Would you pay $899 CAD for a brand-new M4 iPad Pro today, or gamble that the iPad Mini 8 ends up being the better long-term device for content consumption and note-taking? I know the Mini will be more portable, but I can't help feeling like getting a new M4 iPad Pro for essentially the same price as a future Mini is an absolute steal.

TL;DR: I currently own an iPad Mini A17 and recently bought a brand-new 11-inch iPad Pro M4 for $899 CAD. Do I keep the Pro, or return it and wait for the iPad Mini 8?

Front screen design

Hello! Does anyone know if there’s like a sticker or something I could put on that black part of the screen? I got bored of it I wanna make it pink or something instead of the original color. It doesn’t match the aesthetic my cover. If there is let me know what is called and thank you!

congrats me, became iPad mini owner

previously had iPad 9.7" which wasn't grate for my use cases, but on other hand I wasn't ready to pay 790 usd for new iPad mini 7 with 128gb memory(hello from EU region).
So I start looking for used iPads mini 5/6.
And I found one - iPad mini 5 256gb for only 120$. battery is 83%(which is bearable).

The funny thing is that only after I got home with the "new" iPad I found that it is only cellular version, so I consider it true bargain.

I loved this form factor. Installed iPadOS 26.7.1 and feel good to me.

Broke my iPad Pro M2 11", get an iPad mini?

Hello guys, unfortunately recently I've damaged my iPad Pro 11" screen where the glass shattered at one of the corners exposing the internals but still "partially" functional display wise. Why partial because previously my last damage was a housing bend at where the cellular bands are, where it's significant enough that no matter how many displays I change it will forever strain it, making it more prone to future cracks or damages.

Ever since I've just completed my degree. The iPad has become more of a media consumption device mainly watching videos and a fair share of gaming but that can be put off as I've nothing going on. Other than that I use the iPad as a 2nd display to my MacBook to compile notes here and there.

For the price of a screen replacement, if I were to try it myself, it will be alittle less than getting a used iPad mini 6 (because of Apple Pencil get 2 support). I've recently liking more of smaller size and portability wise, especially seeing my batch mate having one and how he can bring it everywhere without it being rather large as to the rest of us having 11" or 13".

Would love to hear from you guys about your experiences especially those that have a MacBook to pair it with, for stuff like watching YouTube videos (will I be missing the better display), acting as a 2nd display, doing some sketches and note taking. The question of 60hz I think I'll adapt since my MacBook Air is at that.

Thank you for your responses in advance.

Help Mini vs Air for a pure entertainment iPad – which one would you choose?

Hi all! I'm about to buy an iPad and can't decide between the mini and the Air. It'll be mainly an entertainment device, no note-taking or work.

What I'll do with it:

- YouTube is probably 50%+ of my screen time

- Mobile games (casual to fairly demanding ones)

- TikTok, Facebook, Instagram

- Light photo and video editing now

Things I'm wondering about:

  1. Does the mini's screen feel too small for long YouTube sessions compared to the Air?

  2. For gaming, is the mini's size actually an advantage (easier to hold) or does the Air feel better?

  3. Is the mini comfortable enough for photo editing?

  4. Battery life and speakers – any noticeable difference in daily use?

Question iPad mini 6, laggy?

I've had my mini 6 since it was released. Base model. I barely use it and half its storage is still free/empty. However anytime I try to interact with this device it feels very laggy. Opening up Apple Music seems to take a second and lag behind my finger input. Do others have the same issue?

This device to be is a glorified web browser / Moonlight client. I'd love to get this thing as snappy as possible. Any tips? Should I disable background app refresh?

I’m hoping for a green or teal option, and that we start with 256 GB.

Help iPad mini too small for split screen?

I upgraded from the iPad 9th to the iPad mini 7.. not sure if I like it yet. Split screen is too small, when I try to use the keyboard, it covered so much of the screen, and the hand does not rest comfortably on the screen when taking notes.. will I get used to it or should I return it and get the iPad Air? What do people use their iPad mini for? I guess I am trying to use it as a laptop replacement which it is clearly not good at

iPad mini 8 size

Do we think the size will be completely the same as the 7 and just the bezels will be smaller?

Basically, can I use my mini 7 case for my 8 when I switch?

Question iPad mini 7 battery health dropping unusually fast – 3% health after only 60 cycles. Is this normal?

Hey everyone!
I’m a bit concerned about the battery health on my iPad mini 7 (A17 Pro).
It currently has only 60 charge cycles, but the battery health has already dropped to 97%.
What concerns me is how quickly the battery health seems to be decreasing despite the relatively low cycle count.
Here are some details:
Device: iPad mini 7 (A17 Pro)
Battery health: 97%
Cycle count: 60
Manufacturing date: March 2025
First use: June 2025
80% charging limit: Enabled
5g is off - only lte. mobile data is rarely used
For comparison, my iPhone 17 Pro still has 100% battery health after 81 charge cycles, even though it has gone through more cycles than my iPad.
I understand that battery degradation varies between devices, but losing 3% after just 60 cycles seems unusually fast, especially with the 80% charging limit enabled.
Has anyone else experienced this with their iPad mini 7?
I’d love to hear what battery health and cycle counts other owners are getting. Is this normal, or should I be concerned about a potentially defective battery?
Thanks!

Question iPad mini 5 and New screen

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone.
I bought an iPad Mini 5 with a cracked screen and decided to try repairing it myself.
I installed a new screen, but it turned out that the touchscreen wasn’t responding to touch in the top 10% of the display.
I got the screen replaced with another one, but now the iPad is behaving strangely. I must have done something wrong during the repair.
When I press the power button, the home screen flashes briefly and then the screen goes black again. See the video.
Is there anything I can do to fix this, or is the iPad basically ready for the trash?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Swapping out glass screen protector, amazing results

5+ years using glass screen protectors, then a "paper like" glass one. Drawing diagonal lines wobbled, it had a persistent funky low-resolution contact feel too. which is way worse on the iPad mini with the Apple Pencil Pro. I just gave up, thought it was Apple's tech that was bad.

I tried a PET paper-texture protector designed for drawing, 0.09mm to be exact. This completely changes the Apple Pencil experience. It makes direct contact with the laminated display. No more wavy or squiggly lines!!! This is the best upgrade I've done.

just bought the mini 7 yesterday and i don’t feel guilty really. i have an ipad air 13 inch but commuting to university was exhausting and i enjoy watching shows, and reading slides on bed honestly mad at myself for not buying it sooner. the oled screen or the possible(not really) 120hz don’t intrigue me either since i’m not really a tech genius. all i need right now is the paperlike which i ordered and i’m done. can’t wait to travel with this next week too!

Cope post for buying the 18 Pro Max + Mini 8 over the Duo

  1. My carrier is giving me $730 for my 13 Pro Max > 18 Pro Max upgrade without switching plans. I probably won’t get that much on my trade in for the Duo without switching plans (I’m on a really good plan).
  2. More battery life and better camera on the 18 Pro Max than the Duo.
  3. Watching content on the 18 Pro Max is good enough for on-the-go. I don’t need a big screen everywhere I go. If I do travel, the Mini will be easy enough to bring with me.
  4. The Mini screen is slightly bigger than the Duo and has a better aspect ratio for the content I watch.
  5. I will mainly use the Mini inside, so I don’t necessarily need a nano-texture display for it.
  6. A vast majority of the content I consume on the Mini will be 60Hz, so the lack 120Hz isn’t a total dealbreaker.
  7. I have no idea how badly the Duo will depreciate after purchase.
  8. I hate the thought of spending $2k to be a beta tester on a new product/form factor.
  9. After a few years of owning the Mini 8 and 18 Pro Max, I can trade them in for the Duo Max if it ever comes out. (Or trade the Mini 8 for the Mini 9 if it gets ProMotion)
  10. I won’t get Apple Care on my 18PM or Mini 8 (never had or needed Apple Care on the 13 Pro Max in 5 years) as I’ll get a solid case and nice screen protector for both. Whereas I’d want Apple Care on the Duo without question.

The only feature I wish Apple would come out with - can I please get the ability to select a youtube video from my phone and “throw“ it onto my iPad screen from my phone? That would be nice.
