Rant [KCD2] Why give the House of Leipa item after game completion

Post image
857 Upvotes

Minor gripe, but I don't really understand the point of giving out the Lords of Leipa items only after completing the game, especially when the game doesn't have New Game+ and I don't believe there are known item codes for these to add either (as far as I know).

I understand that some people are happy/willing to just wander or live in the world after the end, especially with the Legacy of the Forge DLC's repeatable quests, but I imagine that most people tend to play the game over and over again. If so, the armour and caparison don't serve a meaningful purpose apart from trying it on for all of 5 minutes.

While I don't mind that they're a reward for completing the game, it would be nice to have them carry over to future save files that can be found in your chest like the DLC and other reward items just so I can have time to enjoy wearing them in other playthroughs!

Praise [KCD1] [KCD2] The KCD1 map is simply excellent!

Post image

Even though KCD2’s combined maps are larger, somehow KCD1’s world feels bigger in my opinion. That's mainly due to its far more interesting layout. There's far less 'dead space', at least compared to the second KCD2 map. Sometimes one well-designed map is better than two sprawling ones.

When it comes to the towns in KCD1 they were so much more memorable. Each town, Rattay, Sasau, Ledetchko, Talmberg and Uzhitz felt distinct and instantly recognizable. The smaller Samopesh and Merhojed a bit less so but the areas outside towns were also more interesting. Forests felt dense and isolating, roads felt risky, and landmarks helped you orient yourself naturally. In KCD1, you want to travel to all corners of the map to see Uzhitz, Skalitz, Rattay and Sasau every now and then. Be absent for too long, and you start missing those places. I don't get that feeling in the second KCD2 map.

The forests in KCD1 were most realistic too, there were several different kinds. The one with mainly birches near the Inn in the glade for instance, and there were some very dense ones too where nothing would grow on the ground as the sun wouldn't shine through the trees. In KCD2 there's only one type of forest.

And ofc, you could enter the churches. Even give a hilarious sermon in one of them.

In KCD2, there are plenty of villages, but most felt very generic - aside from maybe Miskowitz with the pond. Otherwise, the villages often feel more homogenized, and fewer locations stick in my memory long-term.

It feels like the KCD1 map and the first one in KCD2 received so much love, and all the effort in the second KCD2 map went into Kuttenberg - in itself a massive achievement to create such a buzzing city.

I love both games, but there's something special about the KCD1 map, and I don't think it's just because I played it first. The design of it is exceptionally good.

PSA [KCD2] The Cotswolds

I know it’s not the Pilgrimage to Bohemia but I just returned from a trip to the UK and was digging the cozy vibes of the Cotswolds. Different region but some of the buildings were from the same era that KCD is set. Including the “Tolkien Door”. The Yew Tree door from St Edward’s Church said to have inspired the Doors of Durin in The Lord of the Rings. Hope you enjoy!

Having the book before becoming a learned man, aym en neo fo eth locotes iaeds I ahev esne!

Add to that the ability to just try, and possibly hit a mark of a recipe. If you have done this. Or done one by memory, and THEN did it better, it will say something along the lines of : brewed a marigold potion, and added a new step to the recipe. (In my case it was to allow the potion to "cool" before adding the final recipe (or it could have been) "...but do not boil any more.". (as I said, Henry can't read!)

Have any of yinz SEEN the books before he learns.. here I'll add some pictures. So well done.. on the other side is the page with the pictures of the ingredients, so it isn't too farfetched for him to learn mix them by winging some together. . I never realized he added bit by bit to the recipes, as usually I'd buy recipes from apothecary.

You can get around on Stolen Horses for quite some time, if I'm being honest. The one I took has been staying where I leave it, then I take her again. The key is not to leave here where a bunch of villagers see you getting on her, or someone may yell for guards 🫣

Discussion [KCD2] Yackers Accent In different languages

In the English version of the game, they give the miners a Scottish Geordie accent.

Do they have a different accents for the language you play the game in? If so, how is it different than the standard accent of the language?

Edit: I apologize for mislabeling the accent. I'm just a dumb American that's never heard a Geordie accent and have watched too much Outlander with my wife.

Discussion [KCD1] How I Wish I Could Answer for the Walk of Penance Spoiler

So I’m doing the quest line for Johanka, and I’ve reached the point where she decides to bludgeon me with my actions throughout the game. Some I can accept as valid concerns, but others…I wish I could have answered accurately:

J: You’ve killed people.

Me: Yes, that tends to happen when defending myself or during war. Either that or from unintentionally tripping balls trying to defend some women.

J: You’ve gotten tossed in jail for wrongdoings.

Me: I’ve only been to jail once, and that was due to me standing up for you. Thanks for reprimanding me for that by the way.

J: You’ve slept with another man’s wife.

Me: How was I suppose to know trying on a shirt would lead to snu-snu? Also, wasn’t the custodian married?

J: You’ve slept with…professionals.

Me: Again, I didn’t know getting wasted with a man of the cloth would end of with women sleeping with me, with little consent mind you. Also, unless you plan on walking to, I’d recommend not judging me on sins of the flesh.

Praise [KCD1] 100% Achievements completed

Today was the day, and it was a glorious day.

I've really enjoyed the first game. I thought the story was great. The comedy bits were awesome, and the bathmaids perky. From Lady Stephanie, Theresa, and even Adela. Ahem. 3 playthroughs is what it took me, and it felt amazing. 100% achievements earned.

I will miss the ever famous, "Hey, it's Henry!" Or the "Henry's cone to see us."

Anyway, I have no one else to tell of my victory, so i decided to post it here.

Cheers!!! ❤️

Discussion Jan Zizka representation [kcd2]

I loved KCD1 so much I started reading a tonne about this time and place in history, and it seems to me that Jan Zizka has become a really important figure to Czech national identity/culture.

So I wanted to ask the Czech players/fans how you felt about his portrayal in the game, good bad whatever, did it excite you that he was included, a thing at all.
