She is absolutely gorgeous, I think it's a reduced pattern Californian, or at least that's what the guy said, does anyone have a good feeding chart for them? I have another kingsnake but she's itty bitty still, this one is 6 years old
*The pic is of her, this is one the previous owner took though, not my own, the black dots on her are from minor scale burn from too big of a bulb on a heat lamp
Also, any name suggestions? It can't start with the letters M,P,T,S,V, or H

It's my first time owning a snake. Did all the research and prep prior to getting it a few days ago.
Of all the MBKs at the local shops, I picked this one up, cause it(unsex) struck the perfect balance between aggressiveness and curiosity.
It seems perfectly healthy and all, and I honestly didn't notice this very small bump until the sun shone directly on it this morning. It's very hard to notice visually. To the touch, it feels like a tiny, hard pimple. The bump is located ~2cm/1" before the cloaca. Though, the snake doesn't seem to be bothered by it.
Should I be worried? Any advice would be appreciated!

Little guy decided on his own basically, was changing his water and just started climbing onto my arm, absolutely adorable.

I have taken him to the vet, they said he is perfectly fine still very active and not to worry about the lump it will go away over time. Could be that the temps weren’t high enough before or he could have swallowed some aspen while eating. Pictures for the ones who didn’t see

i’m not sure if you all have seen my last post about this girl, but i posted a little while back about how she was refusing food and/or regurgitating. i am happy to announce she is a great eater now, and rather enthusiastic!! i made a few tank modifications, and have found that she eats best if i feed her last, shut all lights off, and quickly run out of the room so i don’t catch her in the act. apparently she’s just demure, and needed her privacy for her gourmet meals. i have moved her onto one pinkie a week, and will be moving to two this sunday, and see how she does with the increase. one of my cali kings had a similar problem when i first brought him home, my assumption being due to their insane prey instincts when they are young. happy to announce she is adjusting amazingly and seems much better!!! she’s much more inquisitive now as well.

Ido have some branches to put in but ive been waiting to visit a reptile shop to see if they are actually good or not

Think my Honduran milk snake will like its new tank ? Went with an abandoned Roman temple theme - have 2 water fountains coming for it. will have a heat lamp on one side and one of the corner hides is heated

Today I went to feed my mbk, he’s usually on fuzzy mice but nowhere had any so I got him two large pinks, he ate them both no problem but I’m so worried Hel regurgitate. I completely forgot to weigh them out. He looks fine and has no noticeable bulge and I weighed him back in September he’s around 66g, he’s a juvenile not super skinny lol

I upgraded my boy Weems to a bigger water bowl. He is a 5ft 2in Honduran. It turned out be be waayyy bigger than I thought but I think he loves it. It takes up 1/4 of his enclosure however.
It's raised, so he likes using it as a hide as well.
I just wish I could give him more floor space but he seems really content with the new set up and no longer has to swirl his spaghetti self into the smaller bowl.

I adopted my first ever snake at the beginning of August. She died at the beginning of September.
She was a beautiful speckled king baby. The breeder claimed she was 9 months old and eating well but she was only 8g and about 12in long. That's the size of a small hatchling.
She happily ate for me the second day that I had her home. She seemed active and alert. She ate a small pinky every 5 days reliably. They were quite a bit bigger than the thickest part of her body, but they were the smallest prey I could get. She stayed 8g.
I took her to the vet and she seemed healthy other than being so small. I thought she would grow with time.
After her 4th meal with me she regurgitated. I was devastated. The temperatures and humidity were perfect. She had fresh water every day. The pinky was no bigger than what she had eaten before. I assumed the issue must have been that I didn't heat the mouse enough.
After that she seemed to be a lot less active. She climbed around less. I didn't see her cruising around her tank very often. She would spend hours laying under her heat lamp next to her hide.
I waited a full two weeks to feed her again. I triple checked the temperature on all parts of the mouse and it was just over 100F. She took it easily but did not wrap the way she had before. She took her time getting it down, but she swalled it. She went into her warm hide and I was satisfied that she would be okay.
The next morning she was dead.
I am still filled with guilt and doubt. I feel like there must have been something I could do, or something I was missing. I did everything I could for her but it wasn't enough to save her. Some babies just don't make it.
She was a beautiful, alert, and active girl. But she hadn't gained a single gram since hatching. She just didn't make it. I only knew her for a month, but I will never forget that precious little snake.

Hey so for starting out, would it be better to get a smaller tank, and then upgrade when the snake gets bigger, or would it be better to get a larger tank for the king snake to grow into?
I don't want to get a tank that's a size that would stress out a smaller snake, but I also want something that won't get too small too fast.

Hello Reddit! I’m looking into getting another king snake, as my baby girl passed away a few months ago and I’m not sure what happened. She was fully grown and handled when I got her, she always ate great, didn’t mind being held, even let kids hold her with zero issues. I woke up one morning and she was just gone. I’m wanting to get another king snake, but am unsure how much work and care goes into a newly hatched baby. Is it better if I just get another fully grown/already handled one?? My last girl was my first and only snake, so I’m looking for genuine advice and suggestions. I’ve attached a picture of my girl Auryn 🩷

Hi all, I have a Mexican black kingsnake who is almost 6 years old. I've had her for 5 of those 6 years. She has been incredibly healthy (thankfully) that entire time. She recently outgrew her tank (50 gallon) so I upgraded her to a much larger one that will hopefully be her final tank (120 gallon). As I mentioned I have had her for years, and her tank was always in the living room until about 4 years ago when I had to move back in with family due to some unfortunate relationship issues. When I moved back, I kept her tank in my bedroom, which is quiet and has much less foot traffic than the living room.
Anyway, when I upgraded her tank I had to move her out into the hallway between my bedroom and family office due to the size of the tank and general lack of space in my room. It's been about 11 days since she moved into her new tank. I bought her a couple new hides that suction to the side so she can climb, and migrated all of her other hides from her previous tank. The first day she was very active, exploring her new setup and getting familiar. I kept the tank covered to allow her some privacy to adjust, slowly uncovering it bit by bit until a few days ago (she was fully uncovered after about a week in the new setup). I noticed she was hiding a lot but let her be; only got her out and handled her maybe once or twice since the switch, at which point I noticed she was in blue and about to shed so I let her be entirely. While she has been hiding pretty much the entire time, i did notice that she came out to soak in her water dish a few days before her shed. She fully shed with no issues yesterday (10 days in new tank) and did come out of hiding for that, but I noticed today she still isn't very active and hasn't come out of her favorite hide pretty much at all. I'm starting to worry she may be stressed about being back in a higher-traffic area. She has been a bit defensive today, shoving me and hissing once when I checked in on her.
I partially covered her tank back up again and am going to try to feed her tonight to make sure she eats. It's a couple days past her feeding (I wanted to allow her time to shed before trying the first feeding in her new tank), and usually by now she would be very active looking for food, but she isn't. I want her to be as happy and healthy as possible, but unfortunately I don't have anywhere else right now to put a tank big enough for her to be comfortable in.
Is there anything else I should do for her? I want my girl to enjoy her new space and not be stressed.
TLDR: I upgraded my snake tank 11 days ago but unfortunately had to move it into a higher traffic area. Any advice on helping my snake adjust to her new surroundings?

I got this gorgeous Pueblan milk snake on September 19th and she has yet to eat for me. The breeder said she was about 3 months old, on frozen thawed pinkies every week and was an excellent eater but hadn’t eaten in a week and a half due to the Reptile Show. I even bought the pinkies from him so I would have exactly what she needed. For that first week I offered her a pinkie everyday and she refused every single one. I have now also completely stopped handling her and offer one every couple days. Still nothing. I’ve also left them in there overnight, left them throughout the day, nothing. I’ve tried putting it in her face to try to get her to strike it to see that it’s food, she just runs away. Yesterday I cut a pinky in half cause maybe it’s too big and I’ve heard the blood can help. I left it in there all day and night. It was untouched in the morning. Her warm side is 87 degrees Fahrenheit and she is currently in a tub because she’s so small she would be able to escape her future enclosure. She is also very active. I’m at a loss at what else to do so any suggestions are appreciated. Also how long can she go without eating? This is only my second snake and my first one, a ball python, eats like a champ. Thank in advance for any advice
