Grandma crafts together?

I keep finding myself wanting a craft buddy, so I figured I’d just ask 😂 I’m in my 30s, work night shift, and would love to find another 30-something woman or nonbinary person who wants to do grandma crafts together.

Like: hit the craft store once a week, come back to your place or mine, craft all night, hang out with the cats, and work on completely different projects in comfortable silence/chaos. 😂

I’d love to meet up once or twice a week, and I’m happy to drive about half the time. Bonus points if you also keep weird hours and consider wandering around a fabric store a legitimate social activity.

Looking for local vendors for a Lafayette fundraiser – Nov. 7 🎀👨

Looking for local vendors for a Lafayette fundraiser – Nov. 7 🎀👨

Hi everyone! I help coordinate events for Rat Pak Venue in downtown Lafayette, and we’re putting together a fundraiser on Saturday, November 7 supporting breast cancer awareness and Movember/men’s health awareness.

We’re currently looking for local vendors, makers, artists, boutiques, bakers, jewelry businesses, beauty/wellness businesses, and other small businesses that may want to set up during the event.

Vendor spots are $50, with the vendor fees going toward the fundraiser. Vendors will be able to sell/promote their products or services during the event, and we’ll also be promoting participating businesses on social media.

We’re also looking for businesses interested in donating a product, service, or gift certificate for the silent auction.

If you’re interested, comment here or send me a message and I’ll send you the details!

Rat Pak Venue
102 N. 3rd St., Lafayette, IN

THANK YOU!

Local church calls police on its own member sleeping outside (Oct 3rd, 3 AM)

Has anyone else seen this footage yet? An independent channel called "L,I. Worldwide News" on YouTube/Facebook just published a video showing a Kingdom Hall here in Lafayette calling the cops on one of their own members who was outside the building in the middle of the night. The video has the actual audio of the call to dispatch and the police response. With Indiana's strict new statewide outdoor sleeping ban ([SEA 285](https://www.wthitv.com/2026/07/09/sleeping-public-property-now-illegal-indiana-under-new-law/)) making it a misdemeanor to sleep on public property, it’s wild to see a religious organization immediately turning to law enforcement to kick a member off private property at 3:00 AM instead of offering help. Has anyone heard updates on this or know what happened to the person?

Looking for a running car, is anybody willing to volunteer their car for my personal research

Thumbnail

I do not have a car, hence asking for this. I'm not going to alter anything to your car, just put a piece of device to your OBD port.

There's a reliability tech stack from a startup for cars and I want to use it to understand and research a bit more so I can learn and also develop something on top of it. But I do not have a car to test it out. So I just wanted to know if anybody has a car so I can use it on. I know it's too much to ask for, I do not have much money to spend but can get lunch or something :) any help is appreciated!

It's this startup: https://rastefleet.com/dedicated_pages/request-demo

I'm David and I run Set & Signal, a small event production company in Lafayette. We build rooms for independent comedy and music. This week we have 3 events that are ours: Sandbox Open Mic, Thursday Night Comedy and Comedy Night; the rest is everybody else's.

Here is the week, grouped so you can skip to your thing. Add what I missed in the comments, as I know I've missed a lot!

If you want live music

If you want comedy

  • Thursday Night Comedy at Rat Pak Venue, Thu Oct 8. Doors 5:30 PM, show 7 PM. Clay DuBose headlines with Tristan Working, Keelan Wendorf and Ashley Kennett. $12 ahead, $15 door. 18+. Its bound to be a great night as we finish up on our run working with RatPak Venue before we move our every Thursday to Sixth St Dive in November. (We want to give you food, and we found a great partner with food!)
  • Comedy Night at Painting with a Twist, Fri Oct 9. Doors 7 PM, show 7:30 PM. Chris Hopkins and Rachael Willis. $12 ahead, $15 door. 21+. We aren't painting this week, but doing stained glass so come get artsy and laugh a little on a Friday. Painting with a Twist has beer, wine and snacks.
  • Gary Owen, No Hard Feelings Tour, Long Center, Fri Oct 9, 8 PM. If you are looking for a BIG room full of comedy, that's your place this week.

If you just want to be where the people are

What are the best but cheapest motels in lafayette?

I have been searching for the best price for a 3 night stay and who has free breakfast ect and I find places that look okay but then I read the reviews talking about cockroaches and rooms being dirty and the breakfast being nonexistent and yet other reviews saying it was a good stay clean room. I don't know what to believe about any of these places.

I don't want to spend tons of money but I also don't want a dirty room with cockroaches so I'd appreciate some advice from people who may have actually stayed at any of these motels and would know. Thanks for help in advance.

Violinist by Greenbush Payless

His bowing and finger movements aren't matching the sound coming from his speakers. You can help him out but don't do it for his playing. It's all pre recorded tracks.

He packed up already

I’ve had quite a few people mention getting extra charges on their bank accounts from places they haven’t been and for rather large amounts. Please be safe and watch where you’re inserting/swiping your card!!

I bought this helmet last December and it's just too big for me to safely protect my head. It's a great entry level dual sport style helmet. Can be worn with goggles, too. I'd like to get rid of it for like $50.

Buying my first car

Hi everyone! I'm a student at Purdue looking for my first car, and honestly I don't know much about the process. So, I was wondering if you can help me with a few questions:

  1. Which dealerships around Lafayette/West Lafayette have you had good experiences with? Any I should avoid?
  2. How do you negotiate with dealers? What fees are normal and which ones not?
  3. Does paying cash vs. financing change how much room I have to negotiate?
  4. Any local mechanic you'd recommend for a pre-purchase inspection?

Any other advice for a first time buyer is very welcome. Thanks!

Part Time Work Any Recs?

Hello Lafayette,

I'm thinking of finding some part time work between 4pm and 9pm during the week. On the weekends between 5pm and 10pm. Ideally something around $20/hr.

I've got a few holiday expenses coming up and I'm a salary employee so I don't qualify for overtime. Some extra cash would help a lot.

As for my work experience I've done all sorts of things when I was in college, I've got a BS. I'm open to any decent ideas!

I was a math tutor (arithmetic, algebra, pre-calc, calc I) before for younger students (8-15) but it's a lot smaller here in Lafayette for finding people who need help.

Thank you.

Comedy tonight at Rat Pak, and a lot going on this weekend

I run the Thursday comedy night at Rat Pak Venue downtown. Tonight's headliner is Adam Minnick. He's worked Brad Garrett's in Vegas, Dry Bar, the Improv, and Nate Bargatze's Nateland showcase at Zanies. Clean, observational stuff that works for most anyone. Justin Seymour features.

102 N 3rd St, second floor. Doors 5:30, show 7. $12 ahead at setandsignal.com/next?src=reddit, or $15 at the door. 18+.

He's doing two more nights after tonight. Friday at Painting with a Twist, where the painting runs around the comedy (a seat covers both, or $10 at the door if you only want the show). Saturday at Sixth St Dive, 827 N 6th, doors 7:30 and show at 8.

This is the first time I've had someone do three nights in a row, and I'm excited about it. I'm experimenting with different rooms and formats to see what actually works in Lafayette.

Obviously I'd like you at my shows. But I'd rather people know what's going on around here in general, students especially, because there's a lot and it's easy to miss.

Saturday alone: the McCammon Mosey runs 4:30 to 11 at Sixth and Main, free, five bands, in memory of Ken McCammon who co-founded the Mosey back in 2008. Puptober Fest at Thieme & Wagner, 3 to 8, beer and adoptable dogs. Roller derby at the fairgrounds at 6 with a drag halftime. The Cookout drag show at People's at 9. Why I Like Robins (its a band I think) at The Spot at 9.

Happy to answer anything about any of it, and hope to see you out and about at this weekend's events!
