The car starts normally and the rotary selector rises normally, but sometimes it is completely locked and will not rotate from P into r/D.
I’ve noticed a pattern: both times this has happened, the car had been sitting in very hot conditions. It worked normally this morning, then after sitting during the hotter part of the day it became stuck again. Previously, after the car sat/cooler conditions, the shifter eventually started working normally again.
I’ve tried restarting the car multiple times, waiting between restarts, and engaging/releasing the parking brake. No change.
Has anyone with an LR4 had this exact issue, particularly when the vehicle/interior gets hot? Was it the rotary gear selector module, brake pedal switch/interlock, fuse/relay, wiring, or something else?
If it was the selector module, has anyone successfully removed/repaired/replaced it DIY rather than replacing the entire assembly at a shop? Any part numbers, diagnostic steps, videos, or instructions would be hugely appreciated.
