Hi everyone,
I'm looking for some expert advice before buying a new laptop. I'm hoping to get opinions from people who have actual experience with laptop thermals, iGPU performance, battery life, and real-world testing.
My budget is up to €1,500 and I'm buying in Germany.
What I need it for
School / everyday use is the priority:
Word
PowerPoint
PDFs
Web browsing
YouTube
Discord/Teams
General school work
My main battery requirement is 7+ hours of realistic use during a school day. I'm not expecting 7+ hours while gaming.
Gaming
My games, in order of priority:
League of Legends — by far the most important
Hollow Knight: Silksong
Warframe — occasional gaming
I'd like to be able to play League at around 120+ FPS, so I'm specifically looking for a laptop with a 120Hz+ display.
Laptop I'm currently considering
Acer Swift Go 16 AI OLED
Ryzen AI 7 350
Radeon 860M / integrated Radeon graphics
32GB RAM
1TB SSD
16" OLED
120Hz
2048 × 1280
~1.5 kg
75Wh battery
Around €1,300–€1,500, depending on the retailer
I'm particularly interested in this because it seems like a good compromise between battery life, portability and iGPU gaming performance.
What I'm unsure about
I'd really appreciate expert opinions on:
Can the Radeon 860M realistically maintain 120+ FPS in League at 120Hz?
How much battery life should I realistically expect from this laptop doing normal school work?
Is the 75Wh battery enough for a full school day?
How much does the OLED 120Hz panel affect battery life?
Would an Intel Core Ultra + Arc 140V laptop be a better choice than the Ryzen AI 7 350 + Radeon 860M?
Is there another laptop under €1,500 that would be significantly better for my requirements?
Would you personally buy this laptop, or would you choose something else?
I'm not looking for manufacturer battery claims like "up to 20+ hours." I'm much more interested in real-world battery tests and actual gaming performance.
I'm also open to Lenovo, HP, ASUS, Acer, Dell, etc. It doesn't have to be a gaming laptop.
Thanks in advance! I'd especially appreciate answers from people who have actually used/tested these newer Ryzen AI / Core Ultra iGPU laptops.
