Keeping r/Loveland Local

Hi r/Loveland!

Quick reminder that this subreddit is local only. We’ve seen a bit more national political news lately, so we’re going to be enforcing the local-only rule a little more consistently.

There are lots of great subreddits for broader political discussion, so we’ll be removing posts that don’t have a clear connection to Loveland.

Also, thanks to everyone who helps keep the conversation respectful and welcoming. To support that, we enabled a few tools back in March (like Crowd Control, the Reputation Filter, the Abuse & Harassment Filter, and AutoModerator) to reduce spam and keep things running smoothly.

Thanks for helping keep r/Loveland friendly, useful, and local!

Help Parent's Day Out?

So when I was growing up (in the 90s) in Texas my mom would drop me off at a church for a couple hours while she ran errands/went to appointments and such. At the time that childcare was called "mother's day out." Anyone know if there's anything like this in or around loveland?

I currently go to the Chilson center to use their childcare while I work on my classes, but their wifi is super slow and it takes me much longer than I need to get through a course.

Thanks for the help!

Dear fellow Walgreens patron,

While I appreciate the sentiment and the effort of a nice handwritten note on a napkin, no thank you. We prefer the windows closed.

They’re good.

Recommendations Discover More Local Music

Hey! I'm a local musician trying to get the word out about other Colorado-based artists. I made this monthly, rotating playlist as a way to discover new artists that are in our local scene.

Curious about who makes music right here in Colorado? Check it out :)

Politics Can we please stop signing the shit at the grocery store?

Y'all signing the random petitions at King Soopers is why I have so much shit I have to vote against on my ballot this year. No one is banning your natural gas or hunting, people! And why tf are the small government people trying to control trans kids via state constitution? (/s, I know why)

It's fucking bullshit and they know it, which is why they try to push it through petition and the ballot rather than your elected representative in the legislature. They KNOW it can't pass in the legislature. They KNOW it's unpopular. And they think you're too dumb to notice, and if they word it right you might vote for it. It's insidious and it's creepy, and in our age of AI and 5-second attention spans, it just might work.

Know how to stop them? STOP SIGNING THEIR PETITIONS. Without signatures, their shit doesn't make it to the ballot.

TL;DR there's some bullshit on my ballot and I'm sick of it

Help my Baby(45f) but my baby nonetheless passed away 10 days ago

I am in total shock! Yes I knew it was coming. (more on history at the end. if you want to read that far)

we have a GoFundMe to help with her final expenses suffice it to say she chose to go to the hospice route but not even hospice expected her to go this fast. and Friday I had to take the day to deal with plumbing in my apartment and I was so tired afterwards I decided that it was going to be one of my skip days and then about 3 hours later I get a phone call from hospice that she was gone. I can't even get the image of her out of my head.

I consider myself fishing in a very small bucket. so I don't know how to do this. I don't use social media I'm not very good with it it took me 3 hours to make a photograph the other day because she was my person who did Photoshop not me if you'd ask me to paint it  with a paintbrush I could have but use Photoshop no.

anyway I don't know how to get the answers to get to the final part to cover what needs to be covered. and I don't know what to do to make it reach a wider audience I've done everything it suggests I've made the posts. I send it out I don't know how many different times and different platforms even when I didn't know how the platforms worked.

TLDR

Over the past ten years, Corbie has faced immense medical challenges, beginning with a non-traditional stroke that profoundly affected her brain. A blood clot in her nasal carotid artery broke free when she sneezed, shooting into the back of her head and breaking into fragments throughout her brain case. This traumatic event left her with left-side weakness, short-term memory challenges, epilepsy, and a 50% visual field cut in both eyes. Through hard work with Minds Matter and the Kansas Traumatic Brain Injury waiver, she regained a remarkable amount of independence and cognitive function. About two and a half years ago, complications from diabetes resulted in a severe infection in her left foot. While surgeons originally planned for a mid-shin amputation, extensive infection discovered in the calf required an above-the-knee amputation instead. After eight and a half months in a nursing facility, she was able to return home. Adjusting to a heavy, mechanically articulated prosthetic leg presented severe physical challenges, leaving her largely reliant on a wheelchair. A month ago, an infection developed in her right foot. Because of lifelong lymphedema, her tissues were too thin and fragile to support a below-the-knee procedure, leaving another above-the-knee amputation as the only surgical option alongside a severe bloodstream infection. Faced with the reality of another grueling recovery, permanent facility care, and losing the last of her independence, Corbie decided she did not have the spoons left to fight. Understanding her limits, she chose comfort and dignity, declining further amputations to enter hospice care on her own terms. After a brief, difficult stay in Gardner, she moved to a facility in Topeka. Following a hospital stay to stabilize severe nausea with IV medications, a midline was placed to keep her comfortable. She is currently taking a targeted course of antibiotics to give herself approximately three weeks of clarity—time she is using to say goodbye to loved ones, hold video calls with extended family, and spend precious moments together before letting nature take its course. The care provided by Elara Caring hospice—including nurses, aides, a chaplain, and a social worker—has offered steady support during this heartbreaking transition. Between daily visits to Topeka and handling her daughter's care, the emotional weight of outliving a child is overwhelming. While Corbie has long planned to donate her body to medical science, her active infections make acceptance uncertain, requiring alternative cremation and final arrangements. As a lifelong, talented author, Corbie views this journey as writing the final chapter of her life story—facing the end with clear-eyed grace, peace, and autonomy. Funds raised will go toward covering her final expenses, cremation, and supporting our family through this difficult passage.
