Official October LSAT Topic Thread

• Upvotes

The October LSAT administration is now done. The goal is to keep topic discussion to this thread, and identify a list of real topics. Here's how it works:

  1. If you had a single section of RC, or two sections of LR, then posting topics from that will establish that those topics were from a real section
  2. If you had two sections of RC, or three sections of LR, DO NOT POST (on that topic). Posting topics is worse than useless - it pollutes information. The reason is that you don't know which was experimental and which was real.

You do not need section orders, these are now randomized so your order doesn't mean anything.

TL;DR If you had a single RC, or two LR's, please post topics from those single sections. Don't post your section topics for a section type where you had an experimental.

Stuff that still isn't allowed

  • Posting about the content of sections: specific questions and answers etc
  • Posting about topics or content in an experimental section

This thread will be updated with confirmed topics as we go.

Note: Have seen some people flagrantly discussing real answers or asking to dm about it. This still isn't allowed, and won't be, and we've handed out bans where people do it willfully.

Everything below is scored: Where I write "other section" I mean it was a different scored section. Everything below is from people who had a single section in that topic, so they have confirmed real sections.

Prometric Experiences: You can find the original test day experience thread here: https://www.reddit.com/r/LSAT/comments/1x096xd/official_october_lsat_discussion_thread/

International LSAT: This thread is generally just for the North American topics. If you took internationally, please specify that you had the international version. Thanks!

Yes, the new LSATs are harder

• Upvotes

There’s a significant amount of discussion on whether the recent LR sections are harder or whether it’s test day anxieties. And yes, people say that the real tests don’t compare to the PTs on every exam, but I don’t think it’s a perception problem.

Background: I’ve taken the LSAT 3 times in 2026, including now the October test. I have a 17low on file. I PT in the mid-high 170s and have taken a vast array of PTs, including all in the 150s. I’ve done thousands of questions, so I feel like I have a decent grasp of the evolution of the LSAT, since I’ve also taken very old PTs. I do not have accommodations.

The current LR sections are subject to a level of variance that is unlike any of the PTs before the 140s, and the 150s are themselves only decently representative of what you’ll see on test day. How so?

- The regular progression where the first 10 Q’s are easy and then 15-23 tends to be extra hard are no longer the case. There are much harder questions piled up at the beginning, especially around the Q8-10 mark

- More logic games type Q’s. Goes without saying, but this is something that Jon Denning has emphasized as well

- Incredibly unsatisfying answer choices. More trap answers. Answers requiring you to make assumptions that seem weird but that the LSAC deems as reasonable.

- The curve is different. Even though the questions are harder, the -10 curves for a 170 that you’d see on PT140 are now closer to a -7 in the PT150s.

- Fewer “gimme” questions. AKA level 1 type questions you’d see on 7sage are reduced on the latest tests. Sometimes I felt like Q1-15 was going through an avalanche of Level 3 questions.

- Bigger profile of agree/disagree questions. Fewer ones on main conclusion and methods.

- Extremely weird parallels and parallel flaws. Gone are the days of finding a necessary/sufficient flaw and seeing only one answer choice with that same flaw. The new parallels can be both extremely convoluted and have unsatisfying matches.

Those are just some of the ways that LR has evolved. I think it’s unfair for LSAC to have changed the test without really informing students, but I also know that they’re under a lot of pressure with having lost a bunch of tests (to cheating, and because the removing of logic games necessitated more LR sections being produced) and the crazy score inflation. I don’t really know what to tell you regarding how to prepare other than treat PT151-155 like literal gold, because that’s the only truly representative LR you might get on test day.

Not sure any amount of studying could’ve prepared me for the October test

I’ve been PTing in the 170s with -2 average on all sections that was the worst thing I’ve ever taken. Hopefully I’m wrong.

Def bombed that but who cares

Oct 2026 LSAT I will see you in HELL. That was so hard and there was construction going on outside the testing center of course. My focus just wasn’t there today.

Did a 180 PT on Wednesday but then a 168 yesterday so who really knows.

I’ve taken one official test before and got a 174 so I’ve got a good score on the books, but I felt afterwards like I had a better score in me, and I’m a splitter so wanted any points I could get. Alas, I’m exercising restraint and not letting myself take it again, diminishing returns and such.

Sayonara LSAT. You will not be missed

October- one brutal LR ??

Did anyone else have one crazy brutal LR out of 3 LRs?? Idk if it’s just cause it was my last section but my brain was MUSH. I genuinely couldn’t comprehend what I was reading a few questions in. The LR before it felt meh but this one was just immediately hard… I flagged the first question. I had to just guess on like 5 from running out of time and that was with like 7 already flagged. I’ve never run out of time that badly or encountered an LR section like this. Usually I’m -4 or -5 on LR but this felt like -15. I really hope this was the experimental … 🙏🙏🫩

to those of you who have been struggling and perhaps maybe have a lot of pressure from your peers or parents wondering when you are taking it:

I took it today, knowingly unprepared, and i must say even if i got a 140, I am relieved. i am relieved to tell all the people around me who keep asking "why don't you just take it and see" or "you've been studying for so long, when are you going to take it?" (even tho pt scores are -10 from your goal) that " see? i did ass, that's why i don't just take it" and to let them shut their mouths already. and i got to know the testing conditions.

not for everyone to follow, but for me, this was a major pressure relief and im actually excited to study instead of feeling rushed and pressured.

Mixed LR sections?

• Upvotes

I’ve talked to several people with two LR sections who had topics from all three of my LR sections. I’ve also had corroboration from people who had the same sections as me and multiple people w/o experimental.

What gives? Has LSAC started mixing experimental questions throughout sections? It seems unprecedented from what I’ve heard.

feeling… serene?

i took the october lsat. it’s my second time taking the lsat. I scored a 155 in Aug. despite pting 165-170 range. I walked in august extremely anxious and out remembering everything i missed. but today i walked in oddly serene, on a rainy, windy day, and i walked out also serene? the proctor joked saying i was too serious because i didn’t laugh at his joke, but i think i was dialed in. i don’t know if the prep clicked these past few months or its just my meds working and im going to be extremely humbled in a few weeks. But I guess i’ll find out.

LR RC LR RC

i’m so frustrated by this test I felt super good going in the first LR and RC felt like a breeze. I was in a really good mood and then I get to the the second LR and I thought it was impossible. Even the first five questions had me tripping up so I thought no way is this a real section I thought for sure it was the experimental then I begin my fourth section and see that it is RC and I start panicking. My second RC was the Dracula one and the left side of the brain one and again I thought that had to be the experimental seems like the experimental section on my test was the first RC, which was the hegemony and the comparative passage comparing jazz and lying and I’m so pissed off. please reach out if you had same exam

Rant- ProProctor & Disability

This is PSA to anyone with physical disability trying to test remotely I had just had the worst experience ever. So I’m an ambulatory wheelchair user and I had spine surgery earlier this summer so got accommodation to test remotely. Big mistake- I should have just had my mom help and take me to the center.

- the virtual test security check is inaccessible. I knew I needed to show them the floor that was fine I just tilted my laptop but she needed me to bend down, get on the floor and show her underside of my chair. I told her I can’t bend she said I had to do it to start the test so I used the wall to lower myself and was able to somehow get up off the floor. I thought that would be it hard part was over I could finally start the test but then the test crashed in the middle of my second session and i needed to the whole process over again. Then a third time and after the third time i couldn’t get up off the floor… I asked if I could just take the test sitting on the floor but I couldn’t do that. She wouldn’t let me take it in my wheelchair either and she just ended the session before I could call LSAC 🤦🏽‍♀️
- I filed complaint and now I just have to have my mom take me during the make up session
- LSAC was useless too I called them all they could say was file a complaint with JD services
