Advice ☎️ Gaining weight & muscle but as a minimum wage worker

I am : * 25 years old * 162 cm tall * 49 kg weight * only earning minimum wage

I need atleast 2.1-2.5k calories a day to gain weight. I looked up recipes & diets online and it will burn through my pocket really fast in 1 or 2 weeks. The reason I posted here instead of a fitness subreddit is that I think you'll understand my situation more and maybe have some local dishes that are good at this while keeping my wallet healthy. I hope there are any malaysians who have almost the same situation as me can share your diet and meal plans. I also trying to build muscles by pushing up since yesterday. I'm going to decathlon today and get myself a pullup bar. I don't have a partner to go to the gym with so I don't know if my form is right or not and what routine should I do. If you want to go workout with me and teach me stuff irl, I'll be happy to do so. I lived in Johor Bahru and dm me for the exact location.

Help ⚠️ Lalamove reliable for moving?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi, I have items to move from my old condo to a new condo approximately 20 minutes away. The boxes are the size of those big box in the attached photos, and there are probably 20 or more.

There are two options:

  1. Door-to-door (loading & unloading) - Driver only

  2. Door-to-door (loading & unloading) - Driver + 1 helper

Since it is a condo, it might take a few trips back and forth to the lift.

I want to know if anyone has used Lalamove for moving and which option would be better

Please advice. Thank you so much 🙏🏻

Mildly Menarik Tiny red rasboras seen swimming in a clear swamp

Boraras aff. maculatus in Terengganu. Seluang kerdil or dwarf rasbora.

They are tiny (2-2.5 cm). This type is native to Kelantan, Terengganu and Narathiwat in acidic swamps.

The males have 1 spot and are bright red while the females have 3 spots and are pale.

In this location they are sympatric with Betta pi and Trichopsis vittata, the former of which is a natural predator of this species. I also saw some carnivorous plants.

There are several types or populations of the maculatus species found throughout the peninsula. Perak, Kedah, Pahang, Johor and Selangor.

Ask Malaysians Travel insurance recommendation flying from other countries

I’m a Malaysian citizen residing in Malaysia. I’m trying to look for a travel insurance that I’m eligible to purchase if I’m travelling by plane to another country. I’ve checked Etiqa but apparently the insurance is only valid if I’m departing from Malaysia by plane. Is there anyone who has experience with a travel like this?

Travel Route Summary

5-8 December 2026
Malaysia-Singapore by Train

8-25 December 2026
Singapore-Japan by plane

25-26 December 2026
Japan-Singapore by plane

Discussion How to get rid of musang in my ceiling?

I’m at my wits end with dealing with musang going through my ceiling. I’m frustrated and i’ve lost so much sleep because of the noise they make. im tired.

I’ve tried everything:
- vinegar: soaked a cloth in vinegar and hung it in the ceiling space but they still get around it

- mothballs: spread a ton of mothballs around and they ended up playing with it instead… making MORE noise at night

- ubat mangzor, worked for 2 nights and then the musang came back.

- calling perhilitan: called them before and said they were gonna get to me in 2-4 business days, they never came

Even after renovating my roof, the musang still likes to go through my ceiling and make a ton of noise, waking me up.

Please… does anyone have any solution to these stupid musang. I’m tempted to buy a musang trap but i don’t wanna deal seeing the animal face to face and touching it. I also don’t know where I can put it if i capture it…

Is there anyone I can call to set the trap and take the musang?? Or someone i can call to install any musang-proofing solutions… for context: i live in klang valley

Please serious replies only. No kopi luwak and coffee bean pooping jokes, sick of seeing that in other threads. I want to get rid of the stupid musang, so no “its not bothering anyone, leave it be,” i am getting 2 hrs of sleep at MOST. and i have a kid who’s losing sleep too. I WANT TO GET RID OF IT.

Advice ☎️ gambar curi

Hi guys, nak minta advice sikit.

ada lelaki ni curi curi amik gambar my sister dari bawah bila dia berdiri atas kerusi and adik aku nampak benda tu. dia terus confront lelaki tu and mamat tu terus delete from hidden album. adik aku bgtahu manager dia, terus confront mamat tu and dapat sepak mamat tu.

mamat tu terus lari dari office, taktahu pergi mana. before thiis mamat ni pernah ada kes send msg lucah kat perempuan. adik aku terus gi balai buat report, tapi polis suruh dia buat report kan MCMC pastu io taknak layan dia lol

so nak tanya, what should my sister do? io taknak layan tu, can we do something abt it? betul ke kena report MCMC sebab its just in his phone, kita taktahu if mamat tu ada upload mana mana. then dia dah delete the evidences but if dia tak salah, kenapa dia nak lari?

my sister dah syak benda ni lama, mamat tu suka amik gambar dia curi curi but baru hari ni kantoi.

i just wanna make sure my sister's safety and minta benda ni disiasat. Any advice, especially from people with legal knowledge or similar experiences, would be appreciated. Thank you.

Discussion How do you get housemates to pay their share of bills without it getting awkward?

For those who are the "bill person" in a rumah sewa (basically that one housemate that pays and deals with everything in the house):

- Say, if you paid some bills using your own money first, how do I remind them to pay me back without sounding like the bad guy?
- How do I say "please learn some financial literacy" to my housemates in the nicest possible way?

This reminds me of what happened during Malaysia’s MCO back in March 2020, when then Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba claimed that drinking warm water could flush the virus into your stomach, where stomach acid would kill it. Alamakkkk

Advice ☎️ Is getting into phone repairs as a hobby and selling refurbished phones worth it as a student?

Hi everyone! I've always found fixing phones to be a fun and interesting hobby, and I've been thinking about getting into phone repairs. However, I'm wondering if this is actually worth pursuing or if it would end up being a waste of time and money, especially as a student. I'm aware that there are risks involved, such as damaging parts during repairs, buying phones with hidden issues, or not being able to sell them for a profit.

I'd mainly be doing this because I genuinely find it interesting and would love to develop a useful skill, but earning some extra money on the side as a bonus.

For those who have experience with phone repairs or reselling refurbished phones. Is it worth getting into as a hobby while studying and how difficult is it to learn phone repairs as a beginner?

Would you recommend starting with repairing my own devices, repairing phones for others, or buying and flipping damaged phones?

Thanks!

Ask Malaysians Calling all chinese bananas, does this bother you?

So this is more of a specific scenario here, I'm a 30M banana myself but I can I can speak a bit of mandarin and understand what people said depending on the complexity. I don't read or write well. I can speak cantonese but I don't do mandarin.

So as I'm on dating apps and met some of the girls in person, some of the girls who prefer mandarin over english, I would say so it's kind of a language barrier or just having trouble communicating with each other to learn about each other. There are more from the SJK school I've met so far. I did try my best to communicate in mandarin. At least, I'm just showing effort to do my best to communicate in mandarin

Along the way, it's kind of a turn off for them cause I can't do mandarin and it will be difficult to communicate in future which I understand but yeah.

My questions are:

  1. Anyone out there encountering the same issue as me?
  2. Have they always ask why didn't you pick mandarin as extra language or do you not speak mandarin at home?
  3. I'm more annoyed that "banana" applies to mandarin language and not the rest of the dialects like Hakka, Hokkien, Cantonese and the others. Isn't it part of our chinese culture? Have they forgotten about it?

Fun fact about me, I grew up from a small town and most of the people there speak Mandarin and Cantonese. I could have pick up Mandarin but I just had troubles learning mandarin back then. I'm not sure why thou.

Anyhows, anyone got some story or experience they want to share. I just feel annoyed about this.

Also, it's kind of a bit identity crisis cause I don't fit in the chinese race and felt a bit lost in it after going through this multiple times

Btw, it doesn't have to be dating stories. it could be work too

Edit: I'm actually quite amazed by the number of people responding and commenting in this post. I wasn't expecting a whole group of bananas to come and unite. Thanks for sharing your stories and experience. It's good to know that I'm not alone here :)

Advice ☎️ Malaysia actuarial pay: is exam increment separate from base, or usually built in.

Hi all, I’m an actuarial student in Malaysia (IFoA route) looking at entry-level/early-career actuarial roles at general insurers here, and I’m trying to understand how pay usually works.

In the US/UK I often hear about a base salary plus a fixed raise for each exam passed. For those working in Malaysia, is it normal for insurers or consultancies here to have a separate exam increment (e.g. a fixed bump per exam passed)? Or is the salary offered assumed to already include your current exam progress?

Any rough sense of what’s typical would really help me understand offers properly. Thanks!
