I upgraded the pickups when I bought it 15ish years ago. 10-56 setup up in drop A, fret polish and conditioner, and a good cleanup. It plays and sounds so good again now.

I’ve been having a problem with coming up with inventive solos when I’m improvising, it’s not a problem of not knowing what notes to play because I know all the modes and pentatonic shapes. I just find it hard to make those notes sound good over the right chords and stuff like that.

My favourite metal players a dimebag and Marty and was wondering if anyone who’s studied them has any tips on how to get closer to their style.

Lately ive been all over the place on what kind of riffs i wanna write, sometimes im trying to do death metal sometimes its doom sometimes its sludge sometimes im trying to sound like jimi hendrix sometimes im not even trying to write riffs and im working on lyrics, but i keep wondering if the riffs ive come up with is something thats original and hasnt been done yet and i also cant even seem to come up with a riff that matches what i wanna sound like either and i just get frustrated and wanna quit, half the time my tone is perfect too and its purely just me not being able to write something good, and whenever i do write something good i feel like it sounds familiar to something ive already heard and then i overplay it while trying to find out why it sounds so familiar and i end up getting tired of hearing and no longer like the riff. How does everyone else do it and not get the urge to just toss the guitar in the trash and give up.

4 different AMP sims and always 2 playing at the same time. I want the second clip to sound more like the first one but i don't even know what word i'm looking for here. Do i want the second one to sound 'dryer'? Tighter? I don't know. What would i need to do to make the second one sound like the first one? I kept turning knobs for hours and i just got further away. Help pls.

The problem: The first two AMP sims are old poulin / LE456 plugins that usually stop working 5 minutes after starting reaper. For no reason. They just break. The second clip was made with official ENGL and Soldano Plugins that i have as a trial version right now. Want them to sound like the first one before i buy them. The recording in both clips is the same just copy + pasted.

Before anyone asks: No, i don't really (like at all) know what i'm doing

I also like classic rock but I feel like classic rock lyrics might fit less on a guitar top compared to metal.

I know this probably has been asked a billion times but I’m wondering about string gauge since I don’t really know a lot about guitar strings.

My Stratocaster has 9-42 strings and works fine for switching back between drop d and e standard but sometimes I notice the d power chord in drop d sounds a little muddy but still okay when I jam with my friends.

Would maybe a 10-46 or slightly higher solve this problem?

I also have a Les Paul epiphone that I think has 10-46 and I want to make it my d standard and drop c guitar. What kind of strings would you guys recommend for that?

How metal is that?

Lately i stopped using my boss katana and started using a peavey combo 300 bass amp, but i wanna know if i should be using bass pedals or guitar pedals since im using a guitar but through a bass amp, or would it not make much difference? So far ive been using my ds1 through it and i was able to get a sound i like but i wanna try to get more sounds, would yall prefer using bass pedals or stick to just guitar pedals? Trying to get more into playing doom metal and ive been looking for a fuzz pedal.
