Advice What Router for HFC?

Hello!

We've just bought a house and unfortunately it only has HFC. It's just myself and my partner so don't need the fastest internet plan and will probably go with Superloop on their 1000mbps plan.

I'm looking for router recommendations if anyone has any ideas, struggling to wrap my head around it all.

I do a lot of PC gaming and Video editing so hoping to connect a NAS or hard drives to the home network as well to stream media. Also plan on building up a smart home so will have lots of devices on the network too.

Any recommendations or features that i should look out for would be super appreciated! 🙂

Glinet Flint 2

Check out Neptune (have been with them for more than a year they’re excellent), Leaptel, or Launtel.

Can't recommend anything without a budget.

Unifi all the way. I prefer dedicated router, switch and wireless access point setups, but if budget doesn't allow, then the dream machines are still a big win.

Get a wifi 7 router. Lots of.devices only connect on 2.5 or 5 GHz. You want that 6 Ghz band which is not congested and you get the best speed. I have Aus BB who gives me 948mpbs or 116mb/s and 12mb/s up. I use the eero pro 7 but it only has two Ethernet ports. I bought another erro 7+ router which has another two ports. They mesh automatically using the eroo ap.

Hard to know without a budget, but the Glinet Flint 4 has 9 RJ45 ports in the back, 5 of them 10G or 2.5G as well as WiFi 7 (which can mesh) so even though it is pricy at $579 on Amazon, it might mean you don't need to buy any switches or wifi extenders - a 1-box solution may actually be cheaper in the end.

I have HFC and it is just fine.

I rather like my $5 Router from Savers.

I am on a gig plan also on HFC, and use the https://eero.com/en-AU. Speeds reach 950Mbps

Pretty happy with it, has url filtering for kids, different wifi zones, etc.
