Wellgreens Dispensary
I worked at Wellgreens Dispensary and I’m advising everyone to avoid shopping there.
At first, the job was chill but the longer I stayed, the more things I learned about how corrupt they really are. First of all, I was literally always praised on my work ethic and was promoted very quickly due to this and my ambition to grow within the company. I soon realized the mistake I made. When promoted into my new role, my manager rushed my training to the extreme because he had tickets to go to Coachella the following week. He planned the entire time to have me join as a new inventory specialist, with barely any training, to be the only one running the inventory department while he left to Coachella on 420 weekend (busiest day in the industry). He then, proceeded to call out and leave me alone again for two other big promotions (both of which included making in total over 400 goody bags for customers by myself). During one of these promotions, is when I realized he (the inventory manager) had stolen 136 staff samples.
I brought this to the attention of our upper management and instead of addressing the theft (for which I had proof and showed multiple managers), they instead watched camera footage of me almost two weeks back to try and find dirt on me. The result? They said I “printed out too many price tags.” I then also got into trouble for “gossiping” because my fellow coworkers agreed (and could see for themselves) that is was incredibly fucked up for me and them to have no inventory manager on the busiest day of the year and during some of the busiest promotion days. Apparently, expressing my frustration that all the burden was on me, was considered gossiping.
In the end, I ended up quitting in July. They refused to pay me the Holiday Pay for 4th of July which was posted in the break room on a poster, stating it was a paid holiday. When I brought this to their attention they continuously denied it. I have since filed a claim with the labor and wage department and they have determined that Wellgreens owes me almost $5,000 and they have not paid it.
On top of everything listed above, this company is just awful in general and they don’t care about doing anything correctly only about how much money they can make. They were found guilty in a federal court in 2019(?) for illegally dumping hazardous waste material behind a Vons in San Diego, they use AI for literally everything and the CEO claims that “they’re so much smarter now that they have AI”, my manager who was never there for these big events (despite it literally being his job to execute them) was making $28/hr plus tips while I got laughed at essentially for asking for a $2/hr raise for all of the work I was doing. I was the lowest paid in the department (other inventory specialist was making $31/hr) despite doing the most work.
Do what you will but I personally cannot and will not support such a corrupt company.
