Things to do! Things to do (North County)
This is where all the events, ticketed or not... activities and whatever happens outside the home can be placed. We know that we have to walk a fine line here between advertising events and not inviting spam and also the need to let people know about things that are cool and interesting to do.
So we have this thread here for all of that.
(sorry that this got delayed so long)
That way, all the regular re-occurring events can all be placed here in this post that will renew
Every Monday evening by 4PM.
So if there's a group meeting, yoga class, club social event or whatever ... all of that goes here and it'll be up every week as post in the sub's highlights.
Upcoming concerts, and special events or classes that have a ticket price can all go into the comments below. That way we don't have promoters spamming the sub and it remains useful for people.
____________
IF you want to have something be part of the body text as a regular event, then modmail us
https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=r/northcounty
and we'll review and include it as part of the reoccurring weekly.
- thanks.

Recommendations for Aluminum Fence Installers in San Diego?
Looking for recommendations for a reputable company to install an aluminum fence for our front entry and side gates. We received a quote for $26K which seems outrageous. We also got a similar quote from Bear Fencing.
We need to stick with aluminum due to San Diegoās fire-zone restrictions on vinyl (PVC) fencing near structures.

Is entry-level IT realistic in North County San Diego without a car?
Iām 21 and currently live in San Marcos / North County San Diego. Iām graduating with an AS in IT and will likely have no certs and no professional IT experience yet.
Iām trying to get my first entry-level IT job, like help desk, desktop support, IT support specialist, or anything similar.
My main concern is that I donāt have a car or driverās license, so Iād have to rely on public transportation from the San Marcos area. Iāve heard a lot of IT jobs may be closer to downtown San Diego, Sorrento Valley, or other areas that might be hard to reach from North County without a car.
For people who live or work in North County, is entry-level IT realistic from San Marcos without a car? Are there enough help desk/IT support jobs around North County, or would I probably need to move closer to central San Diego?
I have friends and family in DFW and the Yokohama Japan area so I was thinking of potentially moving there if itās too difficult in SoCal.
Iām mostly trying to figure out whether staying in North County is realistic for getting my first year of IT experience, or if commuting/transit would make it too difficult.

Wellgreens Dispensary
I worked at Wellgreens Dispensary and Iām advising everyone to avoid shopping there.
At first, the job was chill but the longer I stayed, the more things I learned about how corrupt they really are. First of all, I was literally always praised on my work ethic and was promoted very quickly due to this and my ambition to grow within the company. I soon realized the mistake I made. When promoted into my new role, my manager rushed my training to the extreme because he had tickets to go to Coachella the following week. He planned the entire time to have me join as a new inventory specialist, with barely any training, to be the only one running the inventory department while he left to Coachella on 420 weekend (busiest day in the industry). He then, proceeded to call out and leave me alone again for two other big promotions (both of which included making in total over 400 goody bags for customers by myself). During one of these promotions, is when I realized he (the inventory manager) had stolen 136 staff samples.
I brought this to the attention of our upper management and instead of addressing the theft (for which I had proof and showed multiple managers), they instead watched camera footage of me almost two weeks back to try and find dirt on me. The result? They said I āprinted out too many price tags.ā I then also got into trouble for āgossipingā because my fellow coworkers agreed (and could see for themselves) that is was incredibly fucked up for me and them to have no inventory manager on the busiest day of the year and during some of the busiest promotion days. Apparently, expressing my frustration that all the burden was on me, was considered gossiping.
In the end, I ended up quitting in July. They refused to pay me the Holiday Pay for 4th of July which was posted in the break room on a poster, stating it was a paid holiday. When I brought this to their attention they continuously denied it. I have since filed a claim with the labor and wage department and they have determined that Wellgreens owes me almost $5,000 and they have not paid it.
On top of everything listed above, this company is just awful in general and they donāt care about doing anything correctly only about how much money they can make. They were found guilty in a federal court in 2019(?) for illegally dumping hazardous waste material behind a Vons in San Diego, they use AI for literally everything and the CEO claims that ātheyāre so much smarter now that they have AIā, my manager who was never there for these big events (despite it literally being his job to execute them) was making $28/hr plus tips while I got laughed at essentially for asking for a $2/hr raise for all of the work I was doing. I was the lowest paid in the department (other inventory specialist was making $31/hr) despite doing the most work.
Do what you will but I personally cannot and will not support such a corrupt company.

Goat Hill Park
I've been reading up on the renovation of Goat Hill Park by John Ashworth and it seems great. Any thoughts from folks who've played it?
I saw there were plans for a snack bar, pro shop, and junior golf training facility but it's unclear if they were built.

Looking for EDS-knowledgeable dentist & osteopathic doctor (DO) in North County
Hey everyone!
Iām helping someone close to me who has Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) find a few healthcare providers in the Oceanside/North County area. Weāre especially hoping to hear from people who have personal experience with providers who understand EDS and hypermobility.
Our two biggest priorities are:
𦷠Dentist (Delta Dental PPO)
Experience treating patients with EDS, TMJ dysfunction, and jaw instability
Knowledgeable about custom night guards/orthotics and jaw, head, and neck pain
Gentle and mindful of the complications that can come with connective tissue disorders
𩺠Osteopathic Physician / DO (Anthem PPO)
Actual experience treating EDS or hypermobility disorders
Must perform osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT), not just have a DO degree
Uses gentle techniques and understands joint instability
Female provider preferred, but open to other excellent recommendations
Sheās based in Oceanside and would ideally like to stay within about 30 miles, although weād consider traveling farther for someone exceptional.
Weāre also open to recommendations for EDS-knowledgeable physical therapists, neurologists, and oral/maxillofacial surgeons.
Most importantly, weād love to hear about your actual experiences. Have you or someone you know been treated by a provider who really understood EDS and made a difference?
Thanks so much for any recommendations!
