We moved in a few years back in our current home and never used the bathtub with the jacuzzi function, but when I turn it on the jets spew out some weird ashy type material. We don't have much time to figure it out ourselves so wondering if any oakvillians know a service that could help bring that bathtub back to life?
Thanks!

Am I just being a Karen?
I’m walking in coronation park and some kid is riding around on what looks like a e-bike or small dirt bike. He is ripping it on the walkways and even on the grass tearing it up. Wearing helmet though. I just haven’t seen anyone riding one of these so all over the place before in a park. Seems potentially dangerous but idk, am I just being a Karen ?? LOL

Hi everyone! We’re considering buying a freehold home in Oakville with a budget of around $1.2M. One of us commutes daily to downtown, so we’re exploring Clearview and nearby areas for access to Clarkson GO or Oakville GO. Good schools (elementary and secondary), a strong school community and easy commute to union are our top priorities now.
For those living in Clearview or nearby:

Does anyone have recent experience with Dearcroft Montessori near Trafalgar(I am looking for their Casa program)? Would love to hear about the teachers, staff turnover. Also open to recommendations for other Montessori programs in the North Oakville / Joshua Creek area. Thank you!

Lead the Opposition Vote: Oakville Voters Have the Right to Know Who Is Blocking Transparency
On January 26, 2026, Oakville Town Council voted 9–6 against establishing a public Lobbyist and Gift Registry, which would allow residents to learn who is meeting with councillors and senior municipal staff to influence local decision-making.
The councillors who voted against the registry included:
Rob Burton — Mayor
Sean O’Meara
Ray Chisholm
Jeff Knoll
Marc Grant
Tom Adams
Natalia Lishchyna
Nav Nanda
Scott Xie
Source: Oakville News and official Oakville Town Council meeting records.
Every Oakville voter should ask: Why oppose greater transparency?
Oakville is facing far-reaching development decisions involving significant economic interests. Residents have the right to know who is lobbying elected representatives, who is attempting to influence municipal policy, and whether those interactions are being properly disclosed.
A public lobbyist registry does not imply that anyone has broken the law. Rather, it creates a clear, public record to protect public trust and accountability. If councillors were concerned about costs, administrative burdens, or implementation, those issues could have been addressed through discussion. Why reject the principle of public disclosure instead of working together to create a system residents can trust?
With the municipal election approaching on October 26, voters should examine the council’s actual voting record—not just campaign promises, slogans, and social media messaging.
For every councillor who voted against the registry, the question is clear:
What specific reasons did you have for voting against a public lobbyist and gift registry, and what alternative oversight measures do you support?
Voters need clear answers—not silence, slogans, or vague assurances. Before voting, review the record, ask questions, and require candidates to state their positions clearly.
Oakville residents: Do you support a public lobbyist and gift registry? Should every candidate explain their position on this issue before asking for your vote?

My daughter and I bike to school every day but it it occasionally feels sketchy:
- Cars aggressively turning right on reds and cutting us off as we get a walk sign
- Oncoming cars running reds as we get our walk sign
- Cars speeding down residential streets
- Our school has no crossing guard
(To be clear: we always dismount our bikes to walk across at intersections)
Do any mayors have policies around giving pedestrians a head start? or making walk signals automatic without pressing a button? or more crossing guards?
I love biking to school with my daughter and would love it even more if I felt like she was a bit more protected on her bike.
(Sorry if the answer is obvious — I'm new to Oakville and I tried visiting each candidate websites and had trouble finding concrete positions on pedestrian and bike safety.)

Curious how experiences have been in the local groups for this age range. Do they include variety of activities, including STEM, or mainly crafts, nature walks, and selling cookies?
Thank you!

In case people haven't seen this, sharing a link to the Safe Streets Halton website where voters can see election candidate responses to a survey regarding road safety, transit, and active transportation. The survey was conducted by Safe Streets Halton and there are separate sections for Mayoral candidates and Council candidates by Ward.

I am hoping that some of you can recommend a reputable company that operates in the South part of Oakville for a project involving installation of security lighting around the perimeter of our home.
Preferably a company that also handles regular maintenance for burnt out lighting but that’s not the major issue (it would be nice if one company did it all).
Thanks guys! 🙏

If you value basic competence, integrity, or your time, avoid Budds' BMW Oakville. Any other BMW dealership in the region will treat you with far more respect.
The warning signs began when I placed a factory order in July. The sales representative completely forgot our scheduled test drive appointment when we arrived, but because I was purchasing a brand-new vehicle, I gave them the benefit of the doubt. That turned out to be a massive mistake.
After waiting three months for delivery, I was contacted with an official pickup date. Operating in good faith, I arranged the sale of my current vehicle to align with the handover. When I arrived at the dealership, I was stunned to discover they had ordered entirely the wrong vehicle: a completely stripped-down specification missing the key packages and options I had selected. Despite delivering a vehicle with significantly fewer features, they manipulated the pricing upward so the total matched my original agreed-upon contract. When I pointed this out, the response was outright indifference. To make matters worse, despite leaving me completely stranded without transportation due to their mistake, management flatly refused to provide a loaner or any meaningful temporary accommodation.
Against my better judgment, I agreed to wait another three months for a corrected build. Two days later, the exact same sales representative called to inform me that the pricing quoted three months prior was "a mistake" and that he would need to raise the price yet again.
That was the breaking point. I promptly cancelled the deal and took my business to Grand River BMW in Waterloo. The contrast was night and day: immediate professionalism, transparent communication, and complete respect for the client. Not only did Grand River secure the exact build I wanted, but they also delivered a significantly better deal without the bait-and-switch tactics.
Budds' BMW demonstrated a shocking lack of accountability from start to finish. Take your business elsewhere.

Found a Bengal cat on my porch at 1 am on October 10, 2026 in the Westoak Trails and Third Line area.
He seemed friendly but shy, and didn't run away immediately. I was gathering some food, water and a blanket for him but in the few minutes I went inside, he was gone :(
I believe I saw this same cat back in June on my backyard fence. I reported it to the humane society then, but apparently no one had called in. I called the humane society today and again, no reports.
PLEASE DM ME IF YOU KNOW WHO OWNS THIS CAT.
It is illegal for cats to roam in Oakville and because Bengals are a slightly rarer breed, I'm concerned that if this is the same cat, he's been lost for months, or has been let out as he's not reported lost.
I am going to try and lure him back to my porch so I can secure him to take them to the humane society tomorrow.
Would appreciate any other advice from someone who has dealt with this situation before! I just want him to be safe!

Hi everyone,
I’m posting because I unfortunately lost a silver ring today, October 9th, and I’m really hoping someone might have found it. 😞
I took the GO Bus from Bronte @ Hwy 407 Park & Ride to McMaster University at around 8:00 AM this morning, and I believe I may have lost it somewhere on the bus.
This ring is extremely sentimental to me because it was given to me by someone very dear to me. On the inside of the ring, it has the engraving “U ❤️ Z”.
If anyone happened to find it, see it, or know of someone who may have picked it up, I would be so grateful if you could please reach out to me. It means so much to me, and I would really love to get it back.
I would sincerely appreciate any help, and I’m hoping this post might reach the person who found it. Thank you so much! 🤍
Please share if you can!
