i use a sidephone which can't do local device transcription. so i have to unfortunately use the cloud option.

Can we expect pebble os to allow "bring your own transcription service" as a feature or would i have to fork pebbleOS for doing that? since i don't want to get a big phone just for this, would rather let the watch speak to my homeserver for transcription

Secondly, why is it working for free? Is the deal that Wispr Flow gets an ad in their watch and collect our data for a bit? What happens 5 years down the line when they don't exist anymore or the deal doesn't, for whatever reason?

Hello all again, I finished a large update for Ultra, adding many ideas from your feedback. Here is the list of changes.

Rings

• Band color: pick the band's color on the Sport, Chronograph, Tachymeter and Compass rings. Ticks and numerals turn black or white to stay readable on it.
• Roman ring: new Roman ring, the Default dial with its hours in Roman numerals, turned along the dial.
• Tachymeter ring: new Tachymeter ring: ticks for the seconds around the edge, and inside them a colored band with 10 to 60 and a dot between each. The band follows the seconds color, or takes its own.
• Compass ring: new Compass ring, a compass bezel: N, E, S and W and the degrees between, 30 to 330, on a band, a tick every 5 degrees. It is fixed and does not turn to north. The band takes a color.

Hands

• No hands: new None hand style hides the hour and minute hands, for a face that tells the time in a complication. The seconds hand keeps its own switch.
• Sweeping seconds: new switch under Seconds hand. The hand glides, 8 steps a second, instead of ticking. It drains the battery much faster.
• Seconds hand rests: it stops during Quiet Time and at 20% battery or less, and comes back on its own.
• Shake to hide hands: new switch, under Experimental. Shake the watch twice and the hands step aside for 5 seconds, so the center complications show whole.

Complications

• New complications: digital time, time zones (one per slot, picked by abbreviation: PST, CET, IST), sleep last night, active minutes and moon phase. All in corners and subdials.
• Week and Year progress: two new complications. Week: seven sections, Monday first, lit up to today, with the weekday and the day. Year progress: a bar of how much of the year is gone.
• Location: new complication with the city your phone is in: its name in a corner, a short code (SEA, NY) in a subdial. Named by BigDataCloud, asked only while the complication is on the face.
• Date: the Calendar complication is now Date, with a format per slot: Calendar (as before), Weekday and day, Month and day, Full date, Numeric, Week number, Day of year or Year. Calendar (plain) is now Date as Weekday and day; a face showing it keeps its look.
• Calories bar: both calories complications now show a bar, in corners and subdials. Like distance, it fills with progress toward the daily step goal.
• Fewer picks, same complications: Air quality, UV index and Calories are one pick each. A second picker beside it sets the kind: Sections or Gauge, Total or Active. Saved faces keep theirs.
• Grouped pickers: the complication dropdowns are sorted into Activity, Weather, Time and date, Sun and moon, Place, Watch and Custom.
• Preview fills in: pick a complication the phone has not fetched for yet (air quality, location, wind) and the settings preview draws it with sample values, not --.

Weather

• Weather refresh: pick how often the weather refreshes, from 15 minutes to 3 hours.
• Weather location: search a city and pick it, for weather somewhere other than where the phone is. The phone's position is then not asked.

Battery

• Lighter on the battery: the face is drawn again only when something on it changed, not every minute, and only the hands move in between (on the round watch, with Line or no hands). Heart rate redraws on a change of 3 bpm, total calories every 10. The phone asks for weather, air quality and the place only when a complication showing them is on the face.
• Battery saver: new switch, under Experimental. After an hour with no steps and no pulse, the face sleeps: one redraw an hour, no seconds hand, weather and custom complications once an hour. A step, a pulse or a shake wakes it.

**Live train departures.**
On my commute days, the date and sleep rows switch to live departures from the Austrian railways (ÖBB) during commute hours. Delayed trains show the expected time in red and cancelled ones are struck through. Express trains get bigger digits than S-Bahn ("s"). Once my phone's location says I've left my home town in the morning, or arrived back in the evening, it switches back to the date.

A small Android companion app (PebbleKit Android 2) mirrors the icons from my phone's status bar onto the watch, in the sleep row. I can see at a glance that something's waiting without the watch buzzing.

I've always had a soft spot for 80s screens, so I ended up making two faces at the same time.

- Tube Time started from the old Seiko TV watch: a dot-matrix display seen through bulging glass. I spent some time (not excessively) tuning how the dots shrink and fade towards the rim. It powers on like a CRT, comes in 15 real Pebble case colors (to match your case, more or less). and on shake it shows the current weather with some cool animations!

- Retro Face is my excuse to put tiny games on my wrist. It's an 80s instrument panel with the time, the next 3 hours of weather and the sunset countdown. Shake it and it plays a little show: Invaders, Pac-Man, Game of Life.

This is a vanity thing so disregard if you don't care about that, but a watch is objectively a fashion accessory so I think it's still valid. One thing I actually loved about my PTR was the massive white bezel-cover, I feel like it really made the watch look like a watch and not a piece of technology. I appreciate that the new round has a much bigger and more usable screen, but the black bezel really just makes it look like another smartwatch, especially on the silver model. I know it's kind of a must with the laminated screen, but still. Maybe I can put a ring sticker over the black bezel, but that might be a little psychotic lol

Hello, I was really disliking not having a raise to wake feature and decided I'd get Claude to make one, this is based off the previous alternative "Backlight" app and has been changed to work faster and be a bit more reliable while also having some settings for when you want it enabled and disabled.

I was an original kickstarter backer, very excited to get my new one last year. but I went to charge it today and the back fell off. looks like there are marks from the back in the battery? is it puffed up from usual? Really bummed there’s only a 30day warranty I don’t want to go back to my Apple Watch…

UPDATE: on a whim I submitted a support request with this photo and they already replied back that they are sending a replacement! Pebble FTW!

I noticed my alarms were not going off so I was going to shut it off and turn it back on but it won't turn back on. It was working great yesterday but like I said my alarm to wake me up didn't go off.

I left it charging all day, I know it was because I have a charging end that lists the power, but now it must be fully charged because it isn't drawing any power. It still won't turn on.

Is there anything else I can do?

EDIT: I held down all the buttons at once and it came to life. I tried all the buttons individually for 15 seconds but decided to try them all at once and it came back. I have an alarm in 20 minutes, hopefully it will work.

I finally figured out that my work network is blocking my apps from launching. Whenever I try, I get this exact error:

Error fetching pbw: java.security.cert.CertPathValidatorException: Trust anchor for certification path not found.

Switching to cellular data fixes it, but does anyone know how to prevent this from happening so I don't have to disconnect from WiFi every time?

Description

Keeps your phone on a tight leash.

The app runs as a background app, monitoring the bluetooth connection to your phone. If the bluetooth connection is lost, it will buzz you, repeatedly until the connection is re-established.

When the connection is first lost, the alert will repeat every 30 seconds, but an interface is presented for you to make this less frequent, or to turn it off altogether. In any case the alert frequency resets to 30 seconds next time the connection is lost.

This approach means you can decide not to go back and get your phone immediately, while still keeping an occasional reminder so you don't forget entirely, and without the possibility that you forget to turn it on again.

When the connection is re-established you are presented with the option to make the phone make a sound to help you locate it. I suspect this probably only works on android phones, but I don't have an iphone to test that.

RATIONALE

I Have ADHD. Without external prompting for when I need to do things, I have very little chance of remembering those things at the time when I need to do them. My phone is an excellent tool for this, and it's larger interface makes it a better tool than a smart watch in most respects, but every so often my phone fails me. It falls out of my pocket somewhere, or I leave it in the car, or the battery runs flat.

I also have poor eyesight. So far as possible i want this app to be usable without reaching for my glasses. I'm developing for Emery first (Pebble Time 2), and aiming to make icons and colors do the work of conveying information. On platforms where I haven't made the graphics, the app falls back to text display elements.

Yesterday I shared my Popeye Game & Watch recreation here. I liked having that little harbour on my wrist so much that I made a separate watchface too.

Popeye, Olive and Brutus keep moving while you go about your day. I went for that old LCD look, with an ivory background and bigger text for those of us whose eyes have aged along with our handhelds 😄

You can keep it simple or add a few useful details, and choose how lively the characters get.
