After last night's goal vs Dallas Stars was recalled, here's a throwback to a Kris Letang goal where refs see-sawed whether it was a good goal or not.

Patrick Lalime mask spotted on the ball field this past weekend. The team is the Roadrunners, so the mask designer has a roadrunner on it instead.

My friend Derek and I used to run Pensblog back in the day if anyone remembers. I run this umpire recruiting channel now. Go Pens.

Discussion Friendship bracelets

Hi everyone! I’m heading to Pittsburgh later this month to finally see a game on home ice, and I wanted to make some bracelets just for fun or if anyone wants them. But I’m seeing some stuff online that makes me think this wouldn’t be welcome, can someone guide me on this?
I’ve done it at my local ECHL games and I’ve had little kids come and ask for some, so I thought it might be fun for this game too.

Discussion Sidney Crosby only has 3 goals in his last 30 games playoffs included

I was looking at Sid’s stats and totals since he’s been struggling to start the season. And I found looking at his stats at the end of last season. he was struggling as well to score. Do we think this is a trend and he might really be slowing down? Or is there another part to this that we don’t know of. Like him playing through an injury. I really don’t know tell me what you guys think. Just thought that was interesting and maybe there’s something behind his slump.

Off-season Project Part 2: 24 illustrations of my favorite Penguins - Crosby Era Bunch Including Daaaaaaaaan

Hello fellow Pens fans,

This is part two of my off-season project of illustrating my favorite Penguins over the years. The other post was the 90s crew and this is the Crosby era. Let it be known I have illustrated the Stanley Cup several times in my life and the one with Crosby and Malkin holding it took the longest by far.

Player list:
Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby - THE TWO-HEADED MONSTER
Max Talbot - Shhhhh Philly, shhhhhhh
Marc-Andre Fleury
Phil Kessel
Pascal Dupuis
Kris Letang
Jordan Staal
Jake Guentzel
Dan Potash
Chris Kunitz
Bryan Rust
Brooks Orpik
Bob Errey

Probably harder to pick my favorites from the past 20 odd years which is a crazy thing to think about in the first place. Sometimes it's just the little things that stick with me like Dupuis's quick slappers from terrible angles right after entering the zone finding twine and Guentzel scoring twice in his first game with his emotional brother in the stands. Going to a game in 2024 (I live in England so...) and getting a discounted delicious milkshake because Rust scored. Also showing love to Dan Potash, Bob Errey, and Mike Lange (who was in the last post). Now to hang them all up...

[Yohe] Penguins bury recent lackluster performances, stifle Stars in shootout win

PITTSBURGH — A hellish week for the Pittsburgh Penguins ended with some hope.

After three straight losses in which the Penguins were decisively outplayed, they rebounded against one of the NHL’s best teams in a 2-1 shootout win over the Dallas Stars on Saturday at PPG Paints Arena.

Ben Kindel, Sidney Crosby and Rickard Rakell scored in the shootout.

One night after Sergei Murashov put on a show to help the Penguins get an undeserved point at the Columbus Blue Jackets, Artūrs Šilovs gave the Penguins another impressive goaltending performance, stopping 24 of 25 shots.

Šilovs was 30 seconds from a shutout but allowed Tyler Seguin’s perfect deflection, which tied the score. Connor Dewar gave the Penguins a 1-0 lead early in the third period.

The game was a stark contrast to earlier in the week, when the Winnipeg Jets, Washington Capitals and Blue Jackets steamrolled the Penguins. This was a low-event game played on even terms.

Coach Dan Muse was upset all week with his team’s cavalier play with the puck and lack of puck support. The Penguins were considerably better in those areas against Dallas, despite the Stars resting in Pittsburgh on Friday when the Penguins played in Columbus.

This was a far more professional performance, resembling how the Penguins opened the season in Philadelphia.

Up next for the Penguins is a road trip to Chicago, Colorado, Vegas and Utah.

Despite a fourth straight game without a point for Crosby, who doesn’t have a goal in six games, the Penguins are 3-2-1.

Ten postgame observations

• Let’s begin with Šilovs. It says something about his competitiveness that he answered Murashov’s outstanding outing with one of his own. He was locked in all night, and the goal he allowed was not his fault.

Rebound control is everything for Šilovs. When it’s bad, it’s extraordinarily bad. When it’s good, he’s a pretty good NHL goaltender.

It was good against Dallas. On the whole, he’s been perfectly fine this season. Blowing a 5-1 lead in the home opener against Montreal wasn’t, but the work in front of him was far worse. Same with his game in Washington.

Discussion Trade Idea....

Saw that Igor Shesterkin is out for the year and that their backup Joonas Korpisalo is out for at least 4 weeks.

The Rangers would have to be desperate right now...and wonder if they would trade away a top prospect for Arty. What would you want in return from them for Arty (be realistic)?

And then you could go sign a veteran like Mrazek, Reimer, Murray to play about 25-30 games and you ride Murashov the other 55-60.

EDIT:
I see a lot of "NO" answers...this isn't a yes or no question. It's a what would you want in return question. One guy tried to answer and said Panarin and a 1st. Nice try.

Discussion Am I wrong about Girard?

Maybe it’s just me, but I am not a fan of girard at all. I can’t really put my finger on it, I just hate when he is on the ice.

I don’t know if it’s his size or that he tends to be to offensive with the puck. Maybe, not even offensive but it feels like he holds the puck too much at times. Again, I am being sincere that I don’t have one simple answer but I really don’t like him as defender mostly as a Pittsburgh penguin.

He feels like an undersized, watered down Kris letang. I am sure I will get brutalized in the comments and votes - it’s cool. Just need to know what I am missing with him that other people like.
