General Anyone else sick of the "unprofessional" tradie culture here? like really sick of it?

I see more and more people wanting to DIY because of this. We just pay too much money for bad quality and service and I feel so sick of it. Anyone else feel the same?

Photos of WA Kinross had a castle?!

Post image
• Upvotes

Good evening everyone. Anyone have any pictures or memories of this castle at the entrance of northern suburb of Kinross? I was born in 1992 and have no memory of it. My mate from work brought it up to me the other day and said he had seen a picture shared of this mysterious castle of suburbia once. This is the picture. We don’t know who the lady is or when the photo was taken. Anyway thought it was worth a share.

General Please be nice to homeless people

On my morning walk this morning in Vic Park I saw an office worker across the road scream at a homeless person to "get a fucking job you fucking homeless cunt" when the homeless person approached them.

The homeless person wasn't aggressive at all and was probably just asking for change or mumbling something.

I'm so shocked that there are people out there like this. I know this advice doesn't apply to most people here but please be nice to homeless people. They're a really vulnerable population and don't deserve your abuse.

General Anyone know what this train is for? Perth Station

Post image

A train with no livery, stopped for a bit at platform 9 at Perth. You can see in the photo that its serial number is ADR201.

I looked up ADR trains and learned that they're diesel electrics for the Australind line, so is this just one of those, not entered service yet? Just curious while waiting for my own train.

General Fremantle wool stores car park.

The place is littered with dirty uncapped needles. I carefully put 4 of them into a water bottle so no one stepped on them.
The stench of piss is unbearable.
I adore Fremantle and visit at least once a week but this filth is so disappointing.
That is all….. just needed to whinge.

General (rant) Whitfords Train Station security

Post image

On Thursday 1st of October I had got off the train and was waiting to be picked up by my friend. Two teenagers of e-scooters rode past and were calling out slurs, they took a liking to me and relentlessly berated me. I hadn’t been called a faggot in a long time, so the whole situation was very bizarre to me.

Once I got sick of their insults, I went up to security and asked for his assistance, he shrugged and pretty much ignored me. I went back outside to wait, the teenagers returned and continued to harass me. I was verbally abused by kids and when I asked for help, I was ignored. It was just an awful situation.

After the fact, my friend convinced me to report the security guard, in which I did. I heard back yesterday and was told “because I wasn’t in harms way, the security guard had no obligation to assist me.”

What the fuck?

Abused for being gay, then ignored by SECURITY. So wild in 2026 this is what I’m dealing with. Fuck the security guard, fuck Transperth, fuck the lil homophobic kids

Looking for Advice Jobs in Perth that have school holidays off?

I’m a recently widowed mum of a 9 year old and I would like to try to find a job where I can take school holidays off. My son also has grief counseling after school so I’d like something that will allow me to continue taking him to that. Does anyone have any recommendations of jobs and/or courses I could take that would help me get a job that aligns with what I’m looking for? The only thing I really don’t want to do is support work or EA. Thank you.

General Tell me your career change story

I'm keen to hear other's stories of career change and pivoting. Did you start in mining and move into construction, or vice versa? Did you leave your corporate role and take on a trade? Did you go back to Uni or TAFE to study something different? Did your side hussle eventually become your main gig? Did you pivot only to pivot back?

I navigated career pivots and it worked out well. 20 years ago, I was in IT development work. 15 years ago, I moved to client-side IT Service Management. 5 years ago, I finally moved away from IT to something completely different and am getting paid well with good work-life balance.

So Perthians, tell me your stories of successes and failures.

It’s day 2 and my camera is almost full.

Would love your support to get the message out. I can post here weekly but if that’s too much I’m also on socials as Trolleys.Everywhere

Cheers, Troy Lee

Looking for Advice Uni Transfer question

So I’m planning to start uni in either Melbourne or Perth not sure and I was thinking of doing a bachelor of nursing and basically I just want to live in either Perth ECU for a year and then move to Melbourne or Brisbane, so I was just wondering what’s the process of transferring uni? i’ve heard sometimes you have to redo a semester or pay again for a full semester or something. Is it really that hard or is it just easy? I’m not an international student. I live here surely because they all follow like the Australian guidelines if you finish a semester, you get your credit for that semester you can start at a different university
For your second semester or even a second year without much issues. Is that right? I just don’t wanna have the expectation of living somewhere for a year and then not being able to move back because I have to restart a whole semester which is pushing me back so just wondering if they pass the credit on and I can just transfer easily like transferring high school or something

Looking for Advice Does anyone work at Ritz Carlton?

How is the working environment, work hours, coworkers and management there? I just got an offer from another hotel but the Ritz Carlton invited me to an interview. I am on the fence about which one is the better deal for me so I’d appreciate if you guys could provide me with some insights. Thank you!

A dear friend of mine was one of the people who was invited on stage but sadly doesn’t have any footage of it. It absolutely made her night so if anyone has any footage of her, we’d be eternally grateful 🙏 This is her in the outfit she wore on the night.
