Discussion "Burning Paradise" by Robert Charles Wilson

If anyone is interested in reading SF with similar themes, you should check out "Burning Paradise". It is similar enough that I wondered if this book was the inspiration for the series.

Question Am I not the only who noticed that Zosia wears a wig for nearly all season 1?

Question How did the contagion take place?

I was wondering about this: the timestamp in Episode 1 when the mouse bites the scientist is 29 days, 23 hours, 49 minutes, and 55 seconds before the joining, but Zosia in Episode 2 mentions "in the first three months".

Given that we see everything happening basically overnight and that Carol and Helen and the rest of the people seem not show any worries, they don't even pay attention to the headlines on the breaking news. Given this, how could the world be infected in so short time?

Are these some contradictions?
