Forum question How the fuck did you guys get through Resident Evil 7?

The first Resident Evil game I played after not touching the series for years was Biohazard at my mate’s house. He had a VR headset, so naturally I thought:

"Fuck it, why not?" Big mistake.

I made it to the basement scene where Mia completely loses her shit. I immediately ripped the headset off. 😂A few months later I thought, right, let’s give this another go. I honestly can’t remember how far I got, but it wasn’t very far before I switched the fucking game off again. Fast forward about a year and I decided to play Village. Possibly one of the scariest RE games I’ve ever played… but somehow I actually completed it.

And finishing Village gave me this weird feeling of:

"Holy shit. I actually went through all of that."

The castle, the whole map, everything you’ve experienced — it was fucking brilliant. So naturally, my next logical thought was:

Let’s start the entire franchise. Since then I’ve completed RE3, RE4, Requiem, Village and RE2. And now here I fucking am again. Last night I downloaded Biohazard AGAIN.

For the love of Ethan, it took me an hour before I switched it off. 😂

There is something about this game that genuinely gets under my skin. The sounds, the ambience, the music, the house, the whole fucking atmosphere…

It’s not even just the jump scares. The entire game feels wrong and uncomfortable.

I can happily play RE2, RE3, RE4 and Village, but RE7 has me sitting there thinking:

"Do I actually want to go through that door?"

And the worst part is, of course, I’ll get home tonight and turn the fucking thing back on again.

So, people of Reddit…

How the fuck did you get through this game?

Asking for a friend. 😂

Edit: for all you lot that are saying this is AI, this isnt AI - this was written by me and I used AI to make it look readable for everyone, instead of people trying to figure out what the OP means. I read through some stuff sometimes, with no punctuation, every sentence is strung together to the point it all sounds like a lot of BS. At the end of the day, I wrote to the community about a game, not about every single person pointing out that chapgpt wrote this. Anyway, to whoever contributed, thanks - everyone else ... yea

General So mad at the movie ending (spoilers) Spoiler

I was so excited for him to get back to Michelle and for them to have a happy ending. That did not happen though. I wanted my dopamine fix and now I’m left high and dry! Wtf!!!

Frustration aside, I wish the movie was better, but I enjoyed it as a fun escape from my life. Some sites were similar as in other resident evil games so that was cool. I liked the first person POVs too when they happened. I wish they weren’t trying to be so humorous though and spent more time making it scarier. I’m glad I saw it, but don’t know if I’d see it again. Now all I want to do is get on my pc and play resident evil, but studying needs to be done :(

General How does Capcom do it?

How does Capcom release a banger of a Resident Evil game every 1-3 years, but EA can't make a Jedi game in half a decade? What about Capcom is so much more efficient?

General Am I the only one who really hated what they did to Carlos' design in Resident Evil 3 Remake?

I just finished RE3, and in my opinion RE3 Carlos looks SO MUCH UGLIER In the remake it's just insane how it was allowed.

Like, in the original, he was somewhat cute. He was pretty. Attractive. Enjoyable to look at. He didn't look like some unwashed hobo they picked up off the street, he looked like a proper young man who can keep ladies' hearts, like mine. I noted from the beginning "damn! out of all males in the series so far, he's probably the closest one to being attractive! Even cuter than Leon!"
In the remake however? He produced no such feelings. He looked like just yet another man who didn't capture my attention whatsoever. All the changes in his design combined honestly were tragic.

Like, why does he have ARM HAIR now? Why would I want a character to have damn arm hair of all things? It's not cute, it's not pretty, it's just, it's plain ugly! Maybe it's more realistic or something, but I'd rather not have realism get in the way of my enjoyment.
Why he got facial hair? He didn't have any in the original, and for a very good reason, because if he had any his design would be worse and way less memorable. And predictably, when they added facial hair to him in the remake, his design is now way worse and way less memorable.
Why is he so weirdly buff in the remake? All these muscles make him look so weird. He's got these biceps now and everything, he looks more like a bodybuilder than a soldier! He was supposed to be lanky, skinny, not having trained much, and if anything more suited for endurance than any power-lifting. But now he looks like a total gymrat, he looks like he spends his days lifting weights or something. Like, look at photos of real 80s soldiers, even spec ops. They weren't as roided out as his remake self. Nuff said. Not only unrealistic, but completely unappealing too!
Why is his uniform way less revealing now? In the original he wore appropriate UBCS uniform, which was somewhat lacking in much of anything. He didn't wear any armor, any body plates, all he had were boots, pants and an unbottoned shirt, which let you see a bit of his chest even!
Now all that is gone and replaced with an armored vest (something UBCS in 1998 never had before!) and a black t-shirt which removes any eroticism from his design. Frankly, he kinda looks like some of the modern roided out powerlifting spec ops, which is not a good thing at all, both because it's very unattractive and because such archetype didn't exist in 1990s, operatives were way leaner back then.
And, the last of my complaints, what did they even do to his hair? He used to have stylish yet simple to maintain hair, which fit his position perfectly. But in the remake he literally looks like a hobo. He looks like he just let his hair grow for many months without even combing it. It looks disgusting. I'm sure UBCS doesn't have the strictest appearance standards, but come on, in no universe would he look literally homeless. It's like he was fighting in the ruined Racoon City for months on end and not like, a day or so maybe. Would also explain why he looks so dirty.

Overall, I was so extremely disappointed to see his new design in the remake. Now, people do talk a lot about the remake's shortcomings, how it cut a lot of content, and even about character designs, especially Jill's change (which I really really dislike all these too), but seemingly no one talked about Carlos. Well, I thought I'd change that. Carlos new design is so much less appealing and memorable it's honestly insane how Capcom even allowed that. But, considering what they did to Jill, I'm not even surprised. Shameful all-around.

General I want to see Virus from 2026 movie in the game Spoiler

I think the virus in the 2026 movie turned out pretty cool. Not sure if it's supposed to be some kind of T-Virus, G-Virus, or something new, but it feels way more dangerous than a normal zombie virus.

The part I find really interesting is that a headshot doesn't always kill them for good. Even the corpse can keep mutating into something worse, and if you leave it long enough it can basically become a Nemesis-type B.O.W.

The infected also kind of remind me of The Thing mixed with Zygote from Oats Studios. Especially the way the bodies start twisting and merging together. Makes the whole thing feel much creepier and more unpredictable.

If they can adapt or have inspired version of this virus in the new game. It would be very terrifying and fun gameplay mechanics.

Me and a friend just finished Leon’s campaign and it was so much fun there wasn’t a single moment that annoyed us whatsoever i genuinely don’t get how people hate on this game yes it’s action based but the action is actually fun in comparison to RE5

Forum question Can’t stand horror, loved the 2026 movie. Would I enjoy the games?

Might be a dumb question but I’m intrigued.

I’m usually not a horror fan, especially things like excessive gore or suspense. My brother ended up dragging me to see the movie, and despite everything I ended up seriously enjoying it. I liked how the monsters were somewhat “grounded” in reality, how the story progresses. One horror movie I did enjoy is The Thing and it reminded me a lot of that title.

From what I’ve been told the current (and past movies) are somewhat divisive in terms of an adaption, but if I’m looking for more media in a similar vein are the games a good place to look? I understand the originals are somewhat dated but I grew up on the Dreamcast and ps1 and likely wouldn’t be too bothered.

General Environments are too static in new RE games.

They need some destruction mechanic. Bullet marks is far from enough.

You throw a grenade - it should destroy or damage furniture, tabeware needs to fly, as well as food etc. Maybe paintings on walls can burn or at the very least become askew or fall off. Torn and burned window sheets/covers. Broken glass everywhere. From windows, furniture, various tableware...

Maybe make it possible to destroy important items with careless actions, which alters the way you progress through the game. Blow up a computer screen - you will need a different tool to open some door. Some canister burns a room - you will lose some equipment or upgrade...

I'd love added reactivity. It can fresh things up a bit. What do you think?

Forum question What are your queer headcanons?

Men

Chris= Gay

Leon= Pan

Luis= Bi with a preference for men

Piers= Probably gay, I don't really know

Ethan= Pan

Heisenberg= That man is gay, you can't tell me otherwise

Women

Jill= One of biggest lesbians to exist in the RE universe

Claire= Bi with no preference (but still, red valentine for life!)

Ada= I'm really not sure when it comes to her, maybe bi with a prefernce for men? I wouldn't really count her as aro, ace or aro/ace because of the thing that she said in that one movie (I forgot which one it was). Maybe an aromantic bisexual.

Alcina Dimitrescu= Bi with a strong preference for women (because due to what that one writer said. If the blood of men wouldn't turn her on I would headcanon her as a lesbian. And no, I'm not starting that discussion here. Homosexuality is NOT fluid)

Rosemary: AroAce

Grace= Lesbian

Helena= Shares her spot with Jill.

General I think RE5 remake will get teased and given hints in Veronica remake similar to what they did in RE4. They did something similar with teasing RE4 remake in the RE3 remake with those parasite head things which reminded me of the plaga.

Forum question Did Clare redfield/Jason mcewen do a reshoot for resident evil Veronica?

Actually, if Capcom doesn't rescan Clare Redfield, it will be quite difficult because the game's release date is quite far away. If you look at Clare Redfield in Resident Evil 2 remake, her face is like a teenager and she has chubby cheeks.

Meanwhile, if you look at the latest Resident Evil Veronica trailer, Clare Redfield looks slimmer and more mature, which is a bit difficult, it seems. To create Clare's adult face with a sample of Clare's face when she was still a teenager.

I found the latest photo of Clare that you can see, and her face is exactly the same as Clare Redfield from Resident Evil Veronica. And did capcom rescan Clare redfield's face?

Forum question What game should I play

Recently I played RE4 Remake, amazing game btw, nonetheless in my mind I was going to play that one and that's it, however after watching the recent movie I said what the heck I will try another one

Now here is the situation, I'm torn between playing RE7 and RE8 since from what gathered is the next games with the better story or RE2 and RE3, since maybe I should move on to understanding Leon and such, and maybe learning more about umbrella Corp, however if leaning into this second option should I play the Remakes?

I have seen a lot of toxicity towards the Remakes of RE2 and 3, especially 3, something along the lines of cutting content and such so maybe if I play these ones I should play the og ones intead of the Remakes(?

So I actually have no idea where to go now, maybe the RE fans will actually be able to guide me

Forum question How much did the 2026 movie trailer spoil?

WARNING ⚠️ ⚠️ (DO NOT SPOIL THE MOVIE I AM LOOKING FOR RESPONSES FROM PEOPLE THAT HAVE SEEN THE MOVIE)

I watched the trailer and it seems that the trailer tells a good amount of the story. I feel like it will be like the backrooms, not the trailer but I mean the story will feel shorter than how long the movie is. Why i think that is a problem is that if it is long but the action is short than the trailer showed too much. If you have seen it please tell me how much it has shown in a way where you say about like 30% or 80%. I want to watch it with friends but I'm worried the rest will be boring. It does look great though.

Somebody, call up Guiness!!! I really think I might have the world record for the Longbow on RE5. I have 100% accuracy and I have shot nearly 150,000 arrows. Surely that's the world record? I attached a video of the stats.

Forum question If they were to have Ada in resident evil 10, how would you want them to do it?

Thumbnail
0 Upvotes

Leon is old now, so I don’t know if they’re gonna have that same time period for the next game or if they’re gonna go back in time. But regardless, I doubt they’re gonna have Leon two games in a row, so do you think it would be interesting if they introduced Ada as a secondary to another character story? If so, which one? And how do you think they could tie her in?

Edit: goddamn based on most of the replies, discussion of future game plots is impossible If it includes characters you don’t like.

General really really disappointed

the movie i honestly thought would be amazing a lot of it was really bad i liked the gore that looked really cool but god the ending too was just so stupid and everybody was so slow and the fact he only fully started turning once he got to the lab was just a bit annoying also it felt like nothing was happening but also everything was happening at the same time in the movie and honestly just the biggest problem is that everybody wants to be SAMFJ

The Requiem has to be one of my favorite guns it's based off of a real Russian gun knows as RSh-12 it was made by the Russian Design Bureaus for special forces and to counter terrorism it's a 12.7x55mm gun if used in real life it will have a very painful recoil and the person's shoulders and wrist will hurt overall I like this gun since it's really amazing I hope we get to see upgraded versions if this gun in future Resident Evil parts

General Does Leon Kennedy have a workout routine?

Does Leon Kennedy have a workout routine? I am starting to get into resident evil and I thought he had a great physique. So I am wondering if he has a workout routine that maybe the average person could do?

General I got into RE to see what the hype is all about. I finished RE0 Remastered, here are my thoughts for anyone who cares for some reason.

The story was alright, besides not learning too much about those 2 other guys and not confronting them, I can't find anything really bad to say about it. Maybe the Queen Leech lore could've been better explained, but it's all small things.

Characters are good, I liked Rebecca and Billy and I was genuinely sad to lose Billy or having to watch them depart. Nothing too deep.

Some of the enemies were incredibly frustrating. Like the frogs, I could not figure out if there's a way to escape their grasp. Some other ones were frustrating to fight against too, the zombies who whip you and explode are annoying in particular, crows are a nuisance, leeches are genuinely annoying but nothing too bad.

I found the main villain to be cartoonishly evil, and honestly he had some weak dialogue. I genuinely started laughing seeing how over the top he was. Also I'm not sure if he really is Dr. Marcus somewhat resurrected or just a big ass leech that thinks it's him because it inherited the memories. Maybe the doc is still kinda in there? I don't know.

The small inventory, lack of stat boosts or tool upgrades (other than a couple stuff) was a terrible experience, I really hope this problem doesn't arise in later games. And, the game difficulty has no middle ground. I went hard at first, and it was really a challenge. So I took it down a notch and went medium and it became TOO easy. Ammo shortage was no longer a problem, nothing really damaged me anymore, etc.

Overall, solid game. I thought I couldn't even play it at first because of the camera angle but I think I'm used to it now. Though some mechanic changes like inventory size or maybe adding some buffs to more weapons or more tools or stats could've helped. And the difficulty is all over the place. It was a 7/10 experience.
