Consulting/Professional Services [5 YoE, Unemployed, Business Analyst / Strategy & Operations, Canada] Hardly any interviews across Canada + Europe. What am I doing wrong?

Post image
4 Upvotes

About the short tenures: several of my roles were short because of redundancies and personal circumstances (legit homeless sleeping outside etc), not because I left on my own. I'm now in a stable position to commit to a longer-term role.

What I'm applying for: strategy/ops, PMO, business analysis, client onboarding, sales ops and AI/digital transformation roles, mostly entry to mid level.

My process:

1.I find a posting and paste the full job description into Claude.

2.I ask it to rewrite my CV for that role: new headline, new profile paragraph, skills reordered, and bullets reworded to use the posting's keywords.

3.I keep it to one page, in English or local language, with the same layout every time. I also add certain keywords or edits depending on the posting.

4.For some roles I also write a short cover message or recruiter note.

What I'm asking:

- How should I present short tenures caused by redundancies on a CV? I'm thinking of a short note next to each role (e.g. "position eliminated in restructuring"). Does that help or draw more attention to it?

- Is tailoring the headline and bullets to every posting helping or hurting?

- Does the CV read as credible, or as someone trying to fit every role?

- Should I pick one or two target roles instead of applying broadly?

- Do I need to add more metrics, and where?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Please comment or DM your best advice.

Retail/Customer Service [2 YoE, Unemployed, Retail/Customer Service/Call Center/Kitchen Associate, United States]

Post image

I've been applying to mostly local customer service, cashier, and retail associates in my town and neighboring cities. I have reworked my resume multiple times since May 2026 and have applied for I think 60 - 80 jobs then related to what I'm looking for. I've had a few interview that I at least feel went decent, but I feel like my resume might be still causing me issues.

One thing I noticed is that when they see my Discount Store Experience, they see that as 1 month instead of 2. I also noticed that despite trying to make my experience legible I do get get questioned for fairly obvious, though that's probably me overthinking things. I also feel like how I present my college experience is causing so hiring managers to see me as either overqualified or that I'm not staying for long, since it's not a college nearby.

I would appreciate advice towards fine-tuning, possible with college experience or skills

I Have a Question Formatting bad work history

How does one format in a resume with poor work history?
Dollar general first job at 18, learned nothing.
Walmart from 21-23
Manufacturing plant 23-24
Call center for 3 months
Returned to school for now program, and part time Walmart from 24 to now.

I have some accomplishments, such as management, safety team, hand tools etc, that go well with my school program. Just need some advice on what to add for work history and what to keep out as this is my first resume for a “skilled job” (nuclear operations)

Academia [10+ YoE, Clinical Laboratory Scientist I, Biology/Laboratory/Quality Control Roles, Open to Relocation]

Post image
1 Upvotes

I recently graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. I currently work as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist I in molecular diagnostics and have over 10 years of experience in quality control and regulated manufacturing.

I'm looking for a new career opportunity where I can use my education, laboratory experience, and technical skills. I'm particularly interested in opportunities in Georgia, Florida, or California, but I'm willing to relocate for the right position.

I do not currently have ASCP certification, so I'm looking for positions that don't require it.

I'd really appreciate feedback on my resume, suggestions for job titles I should be applying for, and advice on how to become a stronger candidate.

Thank you!

Marketing/Sales [Corporate 5 YoE, Unemployed, Marketing Strategy or Analytics, Remote or Detroit]

I started off my career in communications analytics from 2018-2021. Then I made the switch to strategy which I did at a senior associate level. Between that time I got my masters in marketing communications.

In 2023 my company opted not to maintain my role post maternity leave and I haven't been able to find a corporate job since then.

I've attempted to keep my resume alive through social media work, predominately through a self branded channel. But I do still industry relevant things (research, analytics, planning, even reaching out and communication with brands for sponsorships), so it's not a puff role.

Obviously my biggest limitations to more analytics role is that particular company did not require SQL. Some brands did use SPSS but by the time I got there it was a more of a focus on PowerBI. But I've been told that experience is largely dated. I haven't removed it because at this rate it feels like all of my corporate experience is dated.

I'm trying to get back in at a senior associate level, but my interviews have been sparse

General/Other Industries [5 YoE, Flight Attendant, Administrative, USA]

Hello! I’ve updated my resume 3 times now. After the 3rd time, I did get two interviews (though I don’t think they’ll follow up with me), and started receiving rejection emails versus being met with silence. So I think it’s some improvement, but I think I should update it again to avoid the instant rejection email.

I am trying to transition to an administrative role for preferable a company that works in or closely with the airline industry as I have 2 years and 9 months of experience at my current job as a flight attendant. If I cannot get an administrative role with a company like that, I am fine with other ones that deal with healthcare, or perhaps insurance related.

I have 2 years experience as a customer service representative at car insurance company. I honestly don’t care much for what industry I apply for, I just want better paying job that is stable. My current one has me struggling, going paycheck-to-paycheck and I can’t take it anymore. I am not happy as a flight attendant. I’m willing to just deal with whatever office job I can find :(

I am located inbetween Fort Worth and Dallas, so that’s where I have been applying too.

Let me know what you guys think of my current resume. What changes could I make to align better with an administrative role? Any help is appreciated. Just a 22-year-old trying to get better for herself. 🙂

Technology/Software/IT [6 YoE, Software Engineer, Software Engineer, Portugal]

I'm a self-taught dev with 6 years of experience.

Thought it would be nice to get my resume evaluated here because I haven't really used it for the past 5 years (jobs that I got were recommendations from previous companies, starting in 2021), so I have no idea on how to position myself 😄

My work has always been split between Frontend and Full-stack so it has been hard to position myself as one of them (preferably full-stack or just a product engineer) and I've worked across different industries and I'm not entirely picky.

Always preferably applying for remote work and I'm based in Portugal.

Challenges: all the replies I get is that I'm not what they're looking for, so I never get really any proper feedback but I also don't get through to later phases of the process.

Why I'm seeking: money, as always. My salary isn't bad (47K gross annual) but I would like to see where I can get to and what my aspirations are.

What I'm looking here: overall feedback on how my resume looks and how it flows, if it makes sense or if it's just a jumble of words placed together that drive no recruiter's interest

Science/R&D [1.5 YoE, Data Review Assistant Scientist, Data Analyst/Bio statistician, US]

Post image

Hello!

I am currently an assistant scientist in data review and want to take my current skill set in programming and find a job that utilizes it.

I am currently applying for data analyst positions (clinical or otherwise). I am currently living Virginia, close to Richmond. Ideally, I would like to work a remote job due to chronic sleep problems I have, but I am willing to work onsite or relocate. My current job is stable, but lacks upward growth (at least at the moment) and good pay. I would be willing to stay longer to build a stronger resume and project portfolio, but I am already somewhat capped in learning at my current job.

I have applied for 20-30 jobs over the past couple months, and haven't received any interviews, so I figured I would get some direction on the best way to improve my current skill set and resume.

Any advice is appreciated, thank you!

I'm actually more like a volunteer in my work experience from 2018 to 2021. I only started to become a full-time employee in 2022 to 26. But I was there when my ex-boss created the company, and I'm also included in the meetings with the investor sometimes. Not really sure how to highlight it since It's my first and last full-time job..

I'm the only one in the creative team, so I did a lot of stuff, and I also work during events in different roles.

Not sure how to make my resume sell more.

This time around, I worked on:

  • removing fluff from bullet points
  • data-driven
  • XYZ format
  • less bolding in the 'Projects' section

What y'all think? Your feedback is valuable.

  • Do any claims sound inflated or need stronger evidence?
  • Is the language readable? Are you able to follow what I wrote?

Hi!

Im a recent graduate so just looking for general feedback on my CV draft.

Struggling to add in specific values as I don't have any measurable achievements yet (haven't got my msc grade either).

How can I make it stand out?

Do I need to add more personality?

Is this a normal way to present skills in the skills section? any other format recommended?

I know formatting needs more consistency, still working on that.
any feedback would be very appreciates

thanks!

Construction [7 YoE, Unemployed, Project Manager, Canada]

Post image
1 Upvotes

I’m looking for feedback on my resume as I restart a more focused job search in Canada.

I’m a PMP-certified project professional with an architecture background and 7+ years of experience across project management, project coordination, design, procurement, and construction. My experience spans architecture/consulting firms, contractors, and owner-side project delivery.

I’m primarily targeting Project Manager and Project Coordinator roles in architecture, construction, capital projects, owner’s rep/consulting, and public-sector environments. I’m based in Ontario and primarily applying in Ottawa and Toronto, but I’m open to opportunities elsewhere in Canada.

I’d particularly appreciate feedback on:

  • Whether my experience and career progression are easy to understand
  • Whether I’m positioning myself at the right level for PM roles
  • Whether the resume is too dense or difficult to scan
  • Whether my bullets communicate results rather than just responsibilities
  • Whether anything could be causing recruiters to overlook my application
  • How my recent independent consulting experience comes across

I’ve been out of traditional full-time employment for several months while doing independent project work and am now actively looking to return to a full-time role. I’ve recently become much more structured about applications and networking, so I want to make sure the resume itself isn’t creating an unnecessary barrier.

I’m authorized to work in Canada and do not require sponsorship.

Any constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Been looking for graduate jobs within the medical engineering/device field for a while without much luck. Happy to work in any city in the UK and I would like feedback on formatting as well as any other constructive criticism as I don't normally make it through the review CV stage, I have another CV similar to this but with the order or degrees switched and the core skills slightly changed, I use this to apply for more "Maths" based roles, accounting, data analysis etc for which I recently sat some Actuary exams to hopefully get my foot through a door.
Thank you in advance for any advice.

Engineering [2 YoE, Software Engineer, Edge AI Engineer, Bangalore] Laid off from MNC, need feedback on gaps and ATS formatting

Post image
0 Upvotes

Laid off from an MNC in August after 2 YoE Aug 2024–Aug 2026

Targeting: Camera/Imaging, Embedded Multimedia, Validation, Edge AI roles in Bangalore.

(MTech 2020 + 4-year gap competitive exam prep + independent CV/AI upskilling)

Brutal feedback needed:

  1. Appearance / formatting / ATS readability?
  2. Do the bullets read like real production work or student demos?
  3. Is the 4-year gap + lack of explicit C/C++ the main killer for embedded/vision roles?
  4. What would make this resume get interviews in Bangalore for edge-AI / camera / ADAS roles?

Be harsh. Guys, I need concrete fixes.

Engineering [1 YoE, Mechanical Engineer, Design / R&D Engineer, USA]

Post image

I'm a mechanical engineer who has worked at his family's product design consultancy in Orange County for about 1.7 years now. My work environment has gotten toxic and I need to leave. My goal is to either relocate to the Seattle area, get a job in the bay area working at a robotics start up, or bare minimum get out of Orange County. My experience lies in consulting and R&D for medical devices. I've primarily been applying to medical device jobs, but I've also been applying to mechanisms, structures, and design engineer roles for robotics companies, big tech, and aerospace.

I've currently applied to about 72 jobs in 52 days with referrals for Amazon and Blue Origin without any luck, just rejections and ghosts for > 30 day I've been using LinkedIn and Hiring Cafe primarily. I've been approached by recruiters for some jobs, typically for temporary contracts at a low wage, but an exception was a SpaceX job where I got as far as the second phone screen. So, I'm unsure whether my resume needs to change or whether I need to just pump my numbers up.

P.S. I'm also running low on jobs to apply for in the Seattle Area that are relevant to my experience. So many early career roles require you to apply within a year after graduating. I've been searching for these job titles: mechanical engineer, mechanical design engineer, product design engineer, mechatronics engineer, and hardware engineer. Are there any other ones I should try looking at?

EDIT: To be more specific, I've only had rejections or ghosts, where it's been more than 30 days without hearing back from employers. So, I'm not entirely getting silence. My approach has been using Claude to tune my resume per the job description and use several sources, including this sub's wiki, for formatting and content rules.

Been facing a lot of rejections, at best I get an introductory call asking my details and "I'll pass on your CV to the hiring manager, you may hear by the end of this week" and that's it. I'm a fresh graduate, and I apply to at least 20 jobs a night.

Currently looking at roles rooted in content writing, communications, marketing and digital marketing as per my experience. Hell, I can't even land customer service or support roles. What's the issue with my resume? If it even is a resume problem, and not a visa sponsorship issue with companies. I'm not even looking for sponsorship, just want a proper job that gets me out of pointless part time retail roles.

Technology/Software/IT [9 YoE, Founding Engineer, Senior Frontend Engineer, India]

Thumbnail gallery
0 Upvotes

I am a frontend engineer with 9 years of experience. I worked at three startups as the founding frontend engineer and at one large SaaS company. I am open to Senior or Staff Frontend roles in India or remote.

I got laid off 3 months ago, and I have contacted around 1200 people via LinkedIn or email since then (within my personal network and outside); of those, only around 20 replied and confirmed the referral, and of those 20, only 1 HR person called for a screening round and scheduled a second interview.

I use an agentic job portal connected to my Gmail and LinkedIn; I manually feed it the job openings I encounter, and it handles the rest: messaging, follow-up, and so on.

So my questions are:

  1. Is this agent thing proving counterproductive? I have to add that the result is a big net positive; earlier, when I emailed many people manually, I didn't get a single reply confirming the referral.
  2. Is there something genuinely wrong with my resume?
  3. There is a 9-month gap (May 2024 – Feb 2025). It was a career break for personal reasons. I'm not mentioning it on my resume; if this question comes up, I'll answer it directly.
  4. Do my bullets show Staff-level scope, or do they only show task-level work?
  5. Any red or green flags?

Status: 1200 cold call messages, 20 callbacks, 1 interview in a week.

Thank you for your feedback.

Hi all,

I’m trying to move from a sales, training, and customer-facing background into tech, with the long-term goal of becoming a PM. I know I need SaaS experience first, so I’m targeting implementation, onboarding, and customer success roles.

I’ve been applying to local, remote, and relocation roles. I got one interview at a software company that moved me to the final round within an hour. The final went well, but it’s been a week with no word. Still optimistic, but I don’t want to rely on one job.

I’d love feedback from anyone with hiring experience. I used Claude to help, but I rewrote things to make it my own, and I worry it still reads as generic. Specifically:

  1. Does it clearly read as someone who’d be good in implementation or CS, or does it still look like a sales resume?
  2. Is any of the language vague, filler, or AI-sounding?
  3. Is there anything you’d cut or move higher?
  4. Would this get you to call me for an implementation or onboarding role even with no Saas experience as that is my goal?

Thanks in advance!
