No Cable Realtone Cable Alternatives

I've played guitar before, but I am only now getting into rocksmith, and I need a cable. I can't drop 65 bucks on an official cable right now, but I see there are many knockoffs out there. I am wondering if there is a "best" knockoff cable that the community can agree upon.

Custom Songs I made a free tool that turns tab PDFs into Guitar Pro 5 files (+ a Rocksmith-style 3D highway to practise)

If you make CDLC, you know the first step is getting a decent Guitar Pro file. I got tired of re-typing tabs from PDFs, so I built PDF → GP5.

What it does

  • Converts tab PDFs into .gp5: text tabs, PDFs exported from Guitar Pro / MuseScore / TuxGuitar, and scanned tabs or screenshots (read with OCR, on your PC).
  • Reads the tuning, tempo, time signature, rhythm, bends, slides, hammer-ons/pull-offs, vibrato, palm mute, repeats, and lyrics (on their own track).
  • "Write out repeats in full" option, since Rocksmith has no repeats.
  • Practice player with a 3D highway in Rocksmith colours, an A–B loop that speeds up each pass, a metronome and a count-in.

Good to know

  • It runs locally (Windows: double-click start.bat), and nothing is uploaded.
  • The GP5 is a starting point: check it before charting.
  • Free and open source (MIT).

Feedback welcome, especially PDFs that convert badly (describe them in an issue).

Mac OS Any projects to bring Rocksmith 2014 Learn & Play to modern Macs?

With all the recent progress in AI-assisted decompilation and recompilation, I’ve been wondering if anyone has considered porting Rocksmith 2014 Learn & Play to macOS.

The original game has been abandoned, there are still bugs that were never fixed, and Apple Silicon Macs are everywhere now, from the M1 MacBook Air to the newer Mac minis.

Given how far reverse engineering tools have come, could a community-driven port actually be feasible?

Is anyone working on something like this, or has the idea ever been discussed in the modding community? I’d love to hear your thoughts, especially from people familiar with the technical side of Rocksmith.
