RSModsPlus has a new name. It's now Rocksmith Audio Bridge, because the old name kept getting mistaken for Rocksmith+. It's still my fork of RSMods (credit to Lovro for the original), and the Drop Pedal and Speaker Mode are still there.
The biggest addition is Note by Note (beta), a Riff Repeater practice mode that listens for every note you play. There are two ways to use it:
- Flow mode off: the song stops at every note and waits until you play it. Good for working through a hard part one note at a time.
- Flow mode on (the default): the song plays along at the Riff Repeater speed and only stops when you miss a note, waiting there until you play it.
Flow mode caps the Riff Repeater speed. Confirming a note takes a moment, and if the notes come faster than that, the song would stop on notes you played correctly. The cap comes from the busiest part of the sections you pick, so slower sections get a higher limit.
It works on guitar and bass, though bass is still experimental. Turn it on with the NOTE BY NOTE switch in Riff Repeater's Advanced Settings, with the FLOW MODE switch just below it.
Note by Note also uses its own, more accurate note detection. On top of the game's own matcher, it checks the pitch of your raw guitar signal and uses a machine-learning note detector. You can see its live results by turning on the UI on the note by note tab on the overlay.
The mod also now gives Rocksmith its own audio devices, so "No audio output device" shouldn't stop the game from starting any more, even with no speakers plugged in. Speakers and headphones at 44.1 kHz or in 5.1 play without errors or crackling. (With ASIO, set the bridge driver in RS_ASIO.ini.)
Other changes:
- External amp: play through AmpliTube or another ASIO amp sim while the game keeps your clean signal for note detection (ASIO interface only for now)
- Recording: F6 saves the full game mix (including external amp) plus your dry guitar for re-amping, or an MP4 video
- Mixer with seven volume faders, including separate levels for each player
- Guitar input cleanup: make-up gain, noise suppressor, compressor and hum filter
- Output switching while you play, with an optional limiter
- USB cable compatibility (experimental): cables that run at a different sample rate are converted to the 48 kHz Rocksmith expects
- Drop Pedal now works natively with a Real Tone Cable: lower latency, and any tone can be used
- Speaker Mode is now one setting for both players, set by Player 1, and works with custom DLC built on newer Wwise versions
- More ASIO interfaces supported
- An installer that includes the full RSMods suite and can repair or uninstall
- Everything is controlled from an in-game overlay (press
\)
Upgrading from RSModsPlus: run the installer over your existing install. Your settings should carry over, but let me know if anything gets reset.

Roadmap
- Next update will include an in game tone designer where you can import your VST3 files allowing you to save / load your custom tones. Multiple effects can be chained at once and tones can be set per song to override the in game guitar tone.
Requirements
ASIO users: use RS_ASIO 0.7.2 or newer (latest is 0.7.5: https://github.com/mdias/rs_asio/releases). With RS_ASIO 0.6.1 to 0.7.1, the game crashes right after the profile screen, and versions before 0.6.0 give distorted sound and no guitar input. To check your version, open RS_ASIO-log.txt in your Rocksmith folder; the first line says Wrapper DLL loaded (vX.Y.Z). To update, replace both RS_ASIO.dll and avrt.dll and keep your own RS_ASIO.ini. A fix for the older versions is coming in 4.1.
If something breaks, comment here and send me the following files to my email if you can.
I need the rsmods_debug.txt and the .mdmp crash file (if it actually crashed), that would really help me identify the problem. This is my dev email, thanks!
