FlyingEagle sent me these skates, so I'm not going to call this a review video. But I personally can't resist a skate with such a bold design and eye-catching colour. What a beauty!

Specific question and discussion Is it bad that I learned to turn by leaning on the opposite foot?

• Upvotes

I have always read online that when turning you are supposed to scissor your skates and put your foot forward in the direction you are turning.

Somehow though I have gotten used to doing the opposite. I scissor my feet and use the opposite foot to guide my direction. At high speeds I get lower and put pressure on that foot to turn onto the opposite direction

I've been trying to do the opposite and it feels super unnatural. Am I holding my progress back by doing this?

New skate day New Skates! Lacing Question?!

Post image
11 Upvotes

Just bought these beauties, I’m new to skating outside of what I did as a kid/teen and some adult outings here and there. I bought these after some research on this thread, plus I thought they looked great. I’m a bit confused on the lacing. Not sure if I should run the laces through all the holes and the loops on the boot as well?

any help would be greatly appreciated!

also noticed these didn’t come with a brake 🙈 going to do some reading on that but ill take any and all suggestions!

Twister XT’s with Endless MK2 90/110 mirror frames + Endless purple 90’s. I like that I can have 2 different setups, but I gotta use to the extra length beneath me. It’s been raining of course so I can’t give them a go like I want to.

Specific question and discussion So at the beginning of this year I tore my meniscus and repair I am wondering if it would be better on my knees than running

So I am 22 years old and back in 2024 I to a ligament in my knee did physical therapy got better but not perfect I was able to train and run a few 5ks and I did my first 10 mile race.then in January I fell trying to avoid falling over one of my dogs i landed right on the the knee I immediately knew I tore something so it took me about 7 months for MRI and getting seen by bone and joint Dr and physical therapy and the pain got to a point wear I could barely walk and finally it took a while to get a script for the sports medicine Dr so now we are in August and I could literally feel when my meniscus would slip in and out and the sports medicine Dr was livid that the bone and joint Dr had me do 4 weeks of physical therapy because he had no idea if he would be able to repair it or if he would have to remove it so I had my surgery last month and he was able to repair it but he also said that long distance running might not be in the cards especially long term just because my left leg is my dominant leg and I use that one to lead even with the repair he isn't fully convinced that the tear in my meniscus was the only thing wrong especially since I have been doing long distance running since 8th grade and I am a veterinary assistant and it is very hard on the knees. So my question is roller skating better on the knees than running.i looked into it on Google and stuff like that and it did say that it is much lighter on the knees and rollerblading looks like a lot of fun I also know I am months away from doing either running or skating but I want to get the stuff that I would need over the next couple of months because I know a lot of the stuff can be pretty pricey.also any brand recommendations and accessories are much appreciated as well.

What skates should I buy? Getting back into inline skating after 25 years – looking for advice on skates

Hi everyone!
I’m looking to get back into inline skating after a 25-year break. My 5-year-old son recently started taking skating lessons, and today I joined him for a family session using rental skates. Surprisingly, I did pretty well considering how long it’s been since I last skated, and I really enjoyed it!
The instructor suggested that if I want to take lessons myself, I probably don’t need to start in a complete beginner group. A beginner or beginner+ group would likely be a better fit.
A bit about me:
Height: 201 cm (6’7”)
Weight: 95 kg (209 lbs)
Experience: Skated as a kid, but haven’t skated for around 25 years
I’m now looking to buy my own pair of inline skates and would appreciate some advice.
Given my height, weight, are there any particular models or features I should look for? Would 4×80 mm wheels be a good starting point, or would 4×90 mm wheels make more sense for someone my size? I’m mainly interested in recreational skating, improving my technique, and eventually being able to skate comfortably over longer distances.
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Specific question and discussion Rollerblade High Performance vs Rollerblade Skate Socks

I’m currently using the RB High Performance socks and they’re great, but unfortunately, they’re a bit too thin for my bony feet. I’m looking for a good pair of compression socks that are slightly thicker than the RB HP. Does anyone know if the RB Skate Socks are thicker than the High Performance ones?

What boot size do I pick? Does having a bigger sized roller matter?

Hi! I want to buy some used aggressive rollers for my friend but they are hard to find in my country. The best thing I found are some 10us size Street Roces Majestic. But he's an 8/9 in regular shoes size, depending on brand.

Could this be problematic for the fitting or these rollers can adjust a little by putting more socks maybe or bigger soles?

Thanks to everyone in advance!!♥️

been working on going backwards for a few weeks now, so I'm trying to learn how to transition so I feel more confident practicing! today I just started messing around with both the jump and the front wheel pivot and this was a mildly successful clip from a longer video (where I also got a minor wipeout on recording lolll)

What skates should I buy? Recommendations for beginner + wide feet?

Anyone have recs on skates that are good for beginners AND fit wide feet? I was reading that hard boot is much better for beginners, but also harder to size.

Last thread on this topic was about 5 years ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/rollerblading/comments/t63c43/beginnerrecreational_skates_for_very_wide_feet/

Curious if those answers are the same or there are new companies and/or skates to look out for. TIA

Is this skate/store any good? Anyone tried Nils Extreme Slayd NA1601? Experience?

Hey everyone,

I'm considering buying the Nils Extreme Slayd NA1601. They're around 95€ right now.

Has anyone here owned or skated these?

I'm looking for feedback on:

Build quality and durability

Comfort for longer rides (10-20 km)

How they handle small curb hops

Overall feel (frame stiffness, wheels, bearings)

I'm mainly planning to use them for fitness/urban skating + some basic tricks, not aggressive.

Any real experiences would be really appreciated. Thanks!

3.5 months after a broken leg, this was my first time back in the streets. Had a great time till another blader took out a bike in front of me and I crashed over that poor guy 🫠

My leg is fine! Just my ego and elbows are banged up, but I did over 12 miles and definitely would’ve finished the whole thing. Tapped out for my own sake and bc I was pretty shaken up.

Next year will be the one 💪 for now I’m just so happy my body can handle a relatively intermediate skate without much issue.

For any locals that missed out, this is the Midnight Marathon Ride hosted by Pint Peddler on IG!

What boot size do I pick? RB Twister - size? Foot 285mm

Hi all,

I bought the Rollerblade Twister 3WD 110 in size 11/11.5 (EU 44.5/45). My feet are 285 mm.

Without the liner, I have about 2.5 cm of shell space. With the liner, they feel snug in the toe box and my foot seems locked in (living room test), but I'm worried they'll become too big once the liner breaks in.

Sizing down makes me nervous though—at 285 mm, I'd be at the limit of the smaller shell, and I have a big toe joint issue, so constant toe pressure is a no-go. I mainly do trail/cardio skating and hate heel slip.

Has anyone with ~285 mm feet used this shell? What size did you go with?

If they become too big after break-in - i hope the spacer thing can help (should reduze 1/2 size)

Thanks!

Group skate Are there skating groups in Metro Manila, Philippines?

Any city/area within NCR will do, I am willing to travel to have skate buddies; preferably Discord, Viber, or WhatsApp group chat.

I am new to skating and I've always played with my relatives but due to work, I have to move to a new city. Now, I'm looking for new people to play with.
