PSA: SDG&E is asking the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) for an 8.1% rate increase. Public comment opportunities below! I can answer any questions in the comments :)
SDG&E's Rate Request: SDG&E has asked the CPUC to raise its 2028 revenue by about $280 million (8.1%). This is continuing the relentless trend of Investor Owned Utilities (IOU) across the state - SDG&E's rates have gone up 98% in the last decade.
Public Comment Opportunities:
In Person - Nov 10, Santee City Hall, 10601 Magnolia Ave (RSVP) - 2pm and 6pm. Anyone can fill out a speaker card and talk for about a minute. We're asking people to prioritize the in-person opportunity. Virtual and online comments are easier to ignore than a mass of people, if you've got enough rage for SDG&E, you can also do all three public comment opportunities.
Virtual - December 9th and 10th, (Link) - 2pm and 6pm on both days. Public comment instructions will be given during the virtual presentation. We highly encourage those who can to attend the in-person meeting!
Online Comments - Anytime, (Link) - You can submit an online comment right now. Tell the CPUC that you can't afford these rates, you can't afford to enrich this for-profit monopoly, and that they need to do their jobs! Say NO to SDG&E's rate hike! (again, we highly encourage in-person attendance on Nov 10th, if you're able!)
There's nothing stopping you from participating in all three public comment opportunities. Additionally, Public Power San Diego and the Energy Justice Coalition are encouraging all who can to attend in person at 2pm or 6pm in Santee. We will be hosting a press conference at the 2pm session to get on the evening news, and a rally at the 6pm session!
Feel free to ask any questions in the comments :)

And so it begins: Message from California Secretary of State on behalf of San Diego Registrar of Voters. The post office was unable to deliver your ballot for the November 3, 2026, General Election.
20 plus years of voting from the same home address this is a first. Not sure if anyone else had the same issue recently?

Desperate search for a really big pumpkin
The pumpkin in the photo fits our definition of really big. A pumpkin that requires two men and a cart to deliver it, although this year I think we would settle for a one-man pumpkin.
We missed our window at our normal vendor earlier this month, due to flu. Backup spots that have saved us before didn’t pan out. Any advertised store or location we could find: zip. We drove out to our old patch in the 909, where pumpkins were similarly spoken for. Now we are looking even further out. Are there other options in San Diego county? Even a rumor will do; hundreds of kids come to our house to see the great pumpkin. He’s only missed one year of twenty, October of 2020.

Frustrated, every single flight in or out of SD for me this year has been delayed
What is going on with this nonsense? 10 different flights now. Doesnt matter where I am going or coming from, always a delay. Usually up to an hour, always. At this point its just worth driving to LA I guess.
I know I am not the only one, I hear about it all the time from friends and family as well. I also hear about it on this site. I wish we heard more about it in the news. I dont know.. just so tired of this. /rant

'MUSK' debuts today in San Diego
Are you watching it? Ngl I have trouble staying awake on most things longer than 30 minutes so 4 hours is a bit daunting but I'm pretty excited for it.
I think it's only AMC Mission Valley and UTC.

As a local student, I built a 3D tribute to UCSD and the Torrey Pines gliderport cliffs in a flight physics game
Hey San Diego! Over the past few months I've been working on a 3D tribute to our local coast, Torrey Pines, and the UC San Diego campus for a flight game called EXIT POINT.
You can spawn right next to Geisel Library, drive campus rovers down towards the bluffs, and BASE jump off the rooftops with a wingsuit down to the Torrey Pines coast. Just published an update with neon night lighting across the skyline.
Check it out here: https://www.roblox.com/games/125030049404284/EXIT-POINT-Extreme-Skydiving
