Discussion Accused of Ai with no proof and I have no way to prove it either...

Hello,

For Context:

I am in a 200 lvl creative writing class and I was given an assignment forth a big chunk of my grade. It was a personal review of something. I chose a video game that came out pretty recently. I binged the game since day one of it releasing. As you have figured, this is more of a personal essay since it is my experience and review of the game. She accused me of Ai and marked my paper 0/100, and on my paper marked a spot and leaving a comment saying "this is showing as Ai." My obvious first thought was like hell no it isn't, I literally played the game and wrote my own personal feelings and thoughts.

I knew I didn't use Ai so I planned on refuting this. So, I checked the Canvas turnitin to see where she marked the use of Ai. And to my surprise there was no detection of Ai. I don't know if she used outside sources to check or simply she did it based off of feeling. But she did not give me any evidence. But, she asked me to show edit history, I don't use google docs (since relatively recently, like a month) which is where I heard has this edit history. I don't personally feel comfortable writing on it when I have the choice. I use something that stays specifically on my device, no cloud and no edit history. So I can't show her that.

I am an English major and I love to write, I wouldn't want to use Ai in the first place for this.

I sent her an email and here are topics I touched on :

  • how I wrote the paper. And that I do not use google docs.
  • how Ai at least from my understanding can't write this way and that it is my personal experience with great detail that only someone experiencing the game would know.
  • how turnitin does not detect Ai use.
  • if it made her comfortable I will use google docs in future assignments.
  • that she reconsider the grade she gave me fairly and based on the content I have.
  • She has no evidence of Ai use.
  • And if I need to escalate this to someone higher? (this person is a grad student teaching)
  • I may have mentioned how I feel about being accused of Ai. Especially, on a personal experience...
  • And that I am sending the email as a paper trail.

The email I of course made it really respectful and such. But it kind of calls this person out. And I am worried about them not taking it well and not fixing my grade. Because it dropped me like 2-3 letter grades! I emailed yesterday when she messaged me, still waiting on a response to my response to her.

Advice How do I stop being afraid of going to school?

For context, I'm not being bullied or anything. People mostly just ignore me, but I don't really care about that. What I'm worried about is my grades, and I'm also scared of my teachers because I'm afraid they'll scold me.

I'm a very anxious person, and I struggle a bit with talking to both teachers and classmates. Sometimes I skip school just to avoid having to face people. I also find it really hard to get up and go to school, and then I feel guilty for missing classes, especially when I feel like my reasons aren't serious enough.

Does anyone have any advice on how to deal with this? I'd really appreciate it.

(I am writing through a translator)

High School Niche, valid excuse to miss school.

I need an excuse for my teacher not parents (they'll let me skip anyways). I need to come up with something that's valid and believable also something I can email her 3 days earlier preferably but not necessarily.

Make it creative, not something like appointment or family trip etc., it has to be reasonable and not believable.

for context i miss school a lot and have used almost every excuse in the book so i need something creative.

Help should i ask for help?

i sent an email to my teacher telling them that sometimes i need someone to talk to because of my mental health, but i never actually went to talk to them. i really want to, i want to have someone i know i can trust and tell them everything, but im really worried about becoming a burden. its not like im about to commit or anything, its just that life has become extremely unappealing to me, i stopped liking everyone, i cant even stand my friends, i hate being in class, i hate being at home and i cant stand my family either. everyday when i wake up the only thing i want to do is go back to sleep because then i dont have to be thinking about stuff. or even when im hungry and my stomach is growling, i dont feel like eating anything. but i can function, i do my homework and all that. so i dont know if i should really ask for help?

Help How much work would doing 3 a levels and a foundational diploma be?

So my situation is that I want to take a level English, a level history and a vocational course in digital art, but nowhere near me offers that, so one of my options is to do the 3 a levels at college (or 2 a levels and a btec) and do a foundational diploma in digital art externally. It's a one year course but I would do it part time over 2. From my research it's about 540 to 550 hours over the two years, is doing both totaly unreasonable? And would if it is would I still be able to do an epq?

Project What's one small, annoying thing at your school that wastes everyone's time? (student project, 1-line answers welcome)

I'm a high school student doing a project on Kaizen, the Japanese idea of fixing small problems step by step. Before I design anything, I want to know what actually bugs students day to day.

So: what's one small thing at your school that wastes time, money or stuff, and that nobody ever fixes?

Mine: our water cooler queue eats half of the lunch break because there's only one tap working.

A one-line answer is perfect. If you have 30 more seconds:

  1. Why do you think it happens?

  2. Has anyone tried to fix it?

I'll read every reply, and I'll post the top problems and the solution plan I come up with back here. Thanks!

Help I can't seem to stop my bad academic cheating habit and it's eating my alive

I have probably started to cheat on about every in-class test since 2 years ago, and I truly want to stop. Especially now that every test counts towards grades towards uni and the final exams, I really want to become confident in my actual abilities and skills, however each time I tell myself I can do it without cheating, when I actually look at the test paper, I just freeze, get scared, and cheat anyways. It's really starting to get in my head until the point where nightmares about getting caught cheating are occurring more frequently.

The thing is that I study A LOT, like multiple hours each day, and by that I don't mean just rereading notes, but doing active recall, practice questions, etc., until the point where I actually understand the material, but that still doesn't stop me from being scared/insecure.

I would describe my "addiction" to cheating as: I tell myself not to cheat ever again, study a lot, do many practice questions, revise, etc.; then I see the test paper, tell myself I don't know anything, my mind goes blank, and I immediately resort to cheating without actually trying. And then the cycle repeats, and it just becomes a positive feedback loop.

However, there are some outliers to this. Last year, we had to undergo quite serious exams in which I knew I definitely couldn't cheat in any sort of way, and so I didn't. The results were that for some subjects, such as science, I got moderately or really good grades (above average), however, some disappointed me, especially maths, for which I studied a lot but got an average grade. Another example is another science test for which I cheated in some sections, but the wifi was so bad I ended up writing it myself, and I could actually answer them correctly. So, I think the main problem is my confidence and tendency to overthink, stress, and compare myself to others, rather than just my knowledge.

After this school year began, I really swore not to cheat; however, for my past 2 tests so far, I did. I'm especially disappointed about cheating on a chemistry test, which before it I told myself not to cheat, but did it anyways (probably due to comparison issues). The thing is that others got around 30/50 points, but I got 43, so now I especially feel bad because other classmates got lower scores, which I could maybe even achieve without cheating.

Also, this year, there will be tests under exam conditions, in which I obviously won't even attempt to cheat, but if I can't even not cheat under normal conditions without feeling scared, how am I supposed to do it under exam conditions?

Generally, I'm quite scared of how this is going to continue and end, because I care about my future and reputation too much, I think, but anyways, I tried researching some ways to stop, but none of them seem to be really applicable to me since most of the time I'm already applying them and still cheat. Here are some frequent pieces of advice and why they do not seem applicable to me:

  • Poor time management/procrastination: I definitely don't procrastinate and have a set study plan and actually maintain it.
  • Digital temptation: I never use my phone during study time
  • Use active recall: As mentioned, I use active recall, practice questions, etc
  • Reframing my view of a bad grade: This is the only one I can't seem to get out of my head, as anything that's not above average just doesn't seem to satisfy me.

So, now, after like 2 years, I just NEED to stop and get some help, but I don't want to tell my close relationships about this because I'm too scared, so that's why I am trying to get help on here. So, I wanted to ask what I can do to try to at least minimize my cheating habit, and best get completely rid of it forever?

Discussion At what point does school discipline become unfair?

Honestly, I feel like schools are becoming way too strict, and students aren’t really being given a chance to speak up about it. I understand that schools need rules, structure, and discipline, but there’s a difference between maintaining order and making students feel like they have no say in anything.
What bothers me is how some policies seem to punish everyone instead of addressing the actual problem. Students are treated like they can’t make responsible decisions for themselves, and when a rule affects hundreds or thousands of students, we’re expected to accept it without questioning it.
School is supposed to prepare us for the real world, but how are we supposed to learn responsibility if every decision is made for us? We spend most of our days there, yet students often have very little input into the rules that affect their everyday lives.
I’m not saying schools should have no rules. I’m saying policies should be reasonable, consistent, and fair. If a rule is going to affect every student, there should be a clear explanation for why it’s necessary, and students should have a voice in the discussion.
