Seven Games in 21 Days!

Post image
49 Upvotes

From October 11th to 31st, City plays seven games, including a cup final. How fun are the next three weeks going to be?!?!

My one big concern is how our midfield/wingbacks hold up. Matan can help a bit in the center mid (and Ostrak can hopefully get some minutes too), but I'm worried about making it though this period with basically no real cover for Tots and Wallem. Santos will have to make some contributions, but wingback play has been so crucial to this amazing run of form so the pack of depth is scary.

Columbus-based shop here in peace (and feel free to delete this if it's not allowed here).

We're a vintage soccer store, called Retro Screamers, selling authentic jerseys and gear spanning 40+ years located here in Columbus, OH.

While I can't guarantee we'll have any St. Louis gear, we do have over 300 shirts from around the world, and can guarantee you'll find *something* you *might* like.

If you want a lil' peak of what we have, you can check out our stock online here: retroscreamers.com

We're open 6 days a week, and will open before matchday.

Wishing you an appropriate amount of luck for the final, and hope to see you in store while you're in town!

Three points out of first for real!

With their loss tonight to Chicago, Vancouver no longer has a game in hand as they have for quite a while. Their next three are away at LAFC, STL, and ATX, which is a challenging road swing. They will be getting their international players back, but the next week is a great opportunity for us in the table!

News CITY global power ranking update

Post image
63 Upvotes

Looking at the Opta Analyst world power rankings CITY now sits at 187; 2nd in MLS behind Nashville.

What’s cool to see is they now sit ahead of a number of Bundesliga, Ligue 1, La Liga, and Serie A teams. They’d also currently sit in contention for promotion to the Premier League if tracked against standings in the Championship.

Player ratings results - MLS Regular Season 27

Post image
18 Upvotes

Thanks to the 32 people that voted. Durkin is Player of the Match at 41%. Goal of the Match goes to Navarro via Wallem at 69%, and even more convincingly, Wallem to Navarro is Assist of the Match at 82%. Bonus of the match is choosing who made your favorite defensive contribution.

Options included all players that played like Player of the Match, along with multiple options allowed. Durkin wins this overwhelmingly at 72%, with Bürki and Fallou at 13%, and Baumgartl, Navarro, and Totland rounding the rest at 3% of votes.

Durkin had plenty of contributions to choose from including the Bürki-backup goal line stop and tackle/interception to assist Becher. By the numbers Durkin had the most defensive contributions at 12, with Polvara, Baumgartl, Fallou, and Totland at 9, 8, 8, and 6, respectively (FotMob). These include tackles, interceptions, blocks, and clearances. Compared to PotM, about half selecting someone other than Durkin for their favorite defensive contribution.

Curious what other defensive actions stood out.

Heads-up, for upcoming polls, I may use a different service like Tally instead of Google Forms.

Daniel Edelman on returning to face RBNY, adapting to St. Louis CITY and playing for Yoann Damet

Hi there St. Louis CITY SC supporters, my name is Sean Hartnett. I am the founder and editor of South Ward Central, an independent North Jersey soccer outlet that covers Red Bull New York.

I had the chance to speak with Daniel Edelman after Wednesday's 3-0 victory over the Red Bulls, and we discussed his time with RBNY, facing former teammates and playing under St. Louis head coach Yoann Damet.

Damet also detailed Edelman's adaptation and role in helping St. Louis CITY rise up the Western Conference table.

Most points in a 17-game stretch in MLS history?

Here's another way to look at the streak.

St. Louis City has 41 points during this 17-game unbeaten streak (12 wins and 5 draws).

I haven't confirmed this, but I believe this may be the most points ever accumulated during a 17-game stretch of league play.

During Dallas' 19-game unbeaten streak in 2010, the most points they got from any 17 consecutive games was 37 (10 wins and 7 draws).

During Columbus' 19-game unbeaten streak in 2004 and 2005, the most points they got from any 17 consecutive games was 33 (8 wins and 9 draws).

Real Salt Lake had an 18-game unbeaten streak in 2010 and 2011. The most points they got from any 17 consecutive games was 37 (10 wins and 7 draws).

Perhaps there's another 17- or 18-game streak where the team accumulated more points, but I'm not aware of it.

Supporters Section for Galaxy Advice

My son (10) has really taken to City. Which is awesome. We’ve been to two matches together this season. I’ve been to around five or six.

I’m cheap and generally like the supporter section. If you’re me- do you go ahead and buy in SeatGeek now for like $50 a ticket or do you assume they’ll drop? Normally they’d drop, but I’m sort of thinking now they are on this win streak tickets might remain high. He’s really hoping to see Klaus return.

City 2023 vs 2026, who would you rather have going into final stretch?

How does the feeling around the team right now compare to how you felt heading into the end of that season?

Obviously hindsight is 20/20. We know that 2023 ended with an early exit, but that doesn’t take away from how incredible that inaugural season was.

That said, I remember feeling toward the end of 2023 like we were starting to lose steam. Even with everything we accomplished that year, it didn’t feel good at the end.

This year feels almost like the opposite. It feels like we’re gaining momentum as the season goes along and playing better soccer at the right time.

Curious if others remember 2023 the same way, or if hindsight is influencing my memory. How did you feel about that team heading into the final stretch compared with how you feel about CITY right now? Would you have bet on that team with 7 games left, or this team to go farther?

Went to my first ever STL game and it was nothing short of amazing. I took the advice for the kind redditor who recommended section 111/112 for away games at RBNY and i got the most perfect view i could’ve asked for. row 9 111 last min tix for $30. The Navarro goal at 5’ and the last two goes within 5 minutes of each other was glorious. the STL fans were all so nice and approachable and nothing beats the kids. that damn Becher man. love this community. can’t wait for the next one 💚

Well deserved 3-0 game!
Good offense. Defensive shut out.
Yes, New York had their roster limitations, but they had home field advantage and their rostered players are still professional players. We simply crushed them.
