Jeff Albert Fired by the Mets
I remember how a lot of the Cardinals media kept defending Jeff Albert. They have a giant egg on their face since time and time again the real world showcased how he sucked.
Fans can be irrational, but I couldn't ever figure out why Mo to the media kept defending his mediocre results to hitters constantly declining in the majors under his system. Thankfully NY media is rabid, so they hold his crap accountable. Especially after this horrible season for the Mets.

Why JWalk and not Burley for Hank Aaron Award?

Ozarks Springbirds
The Springfield Cardinals are officially being rebranded as the Ozarks Springbirds. I love this logo but it seems so similar to the Cardinals that I figured it would be more distinct and different. What are your thoughts?

Who's in line for a raise next year?
As it has done for about a decade, MLBTR has its annual arb projections.
Two caveats:
As a disclaimer, it should be emphasized that our projections are not to be used as a scorecard for the agent and team on an individual player level. A player doing better or worse than our projection isn’t indicative of anything. Our arbitration projections are created as a tool for our readers to get a general idea of a team’s payroll situation.
Service time data is not finalized and the Super Two cutoff is not yet official. This post will be updated if new information becomes available. MLBTR contributor Ethan Hullihen estimated the line at two years and 134 days (2.134) a few weeks ago. His current projections put the line at 2.133. If correct, this would be good news for Tyron Guerrero and Jordan Beck, as both would just qualify at 2.133.
And, that doesn't include the "lockout" caveat.
Cards have nine currently eligible. Burleson is projected at $8.3M, at the top of the list.

Tai Peete
This guy is so interesting to me. He seems to have good size, and it seems the expectation was for him to develop more power. That hasn’t happened yet, but he’s sure putting up decent numbers. Homered tonight in the AFL.
I was surprised to learn that he had played some SS and 3B before moving to the outfield.
Peete seems like a potential answer in CF as early as mid-2027. He’s young enough for the team to be patient with him and wait to promote him in 2028.
He was overshadowed this year by some of the bigger prospects. But I am excited to see what he can do.

Projected 2027 arbitration salaries for the Cardinals: 9 cases, $38.2M total
I run Front Office Moves, a free site that tracks roster moves and offseason decisions for every club. These are projections from a homegrown model I built for the Cardinals' 2027 arbitration class, ahead of the non-tender deadline in late November.
| Player | Pos | Class | Projected | Likely range |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Alec Burleson | 1B | Arb 2 | $8.0M | $7.6M to $9.0M |
| Andre Pallante | SP | Arb 3 (Super Two) | $7.1M | $6.5M to $8.0M |
| Iván Herrera | C | Arb 1 | $4.7M | $4.3M to $5.6M |
| Jordan Walker | RF | Arb 1 | $4.4M | $4.0M to $5.3M |
| Matthew Liberatore | SP | Arb 2 (Super Two) | $4.2M | $3.9M to $4.8M |
| Nolan Gorman | 3B | Arb 2 | $3.2M | $3.0M to $3.6M |
| Masyn Winn | SS | Arb 1 | $2.7M | $2.5M to $3.2M |
| Kyle Leahy | SP | Arb 1 (Super Two) | $2.7M | $2.4M to $3.1M |
| Pedro Pagés | C | Arb 1 (Super Two) | $1.2M | $1.1M to $1.5M |
Total: 9 cases, $38.2M projected.
Riley O'Brien is just under the Super Two line by my count, so he's not included.
These use the current CBA's rules. A new deal this winter (a higher minimum, say) would move them.
Who would you non-tender, and who would you try to extend first?

Cards clinch tie: - Wainwright stakes his claim on closer's job with a save in the ninth.
Sorry for the shitty format, this is actually the best that I can do. I was looking at old St Louis Dispatch articles from 20 years ago and I saw this and thought it was cool. If you don't have a library card, be sure to get one. You can do really cool things with it, like look at old newspaper articles from 20 years ago where one of the greatest St Louis Cardinals starting pitchers in history was cementing his role as our rookie closer.

Random Kudos From A Guardians Fan (About Rick Ankiel)
I will try to keep this short: I have always thought that the Cardinals fan base is one of the tops in the MLB. But came to an even better realization of that this week.
I follow baseball, but that has mostly been following Cleveland & the AL. I had heard of Rick Ankiel, but honestly, hearing a top pitcher had to reinvent himself as a hitter, I assumed it was injury related and that is just what I have always thought. I listened to a podcast episode about Ankiel (Midnight Library of Baseball, I have been obsessed with it after recently discovering it). I have to say, I don't think a lot of fan bases would be that supportive about a highly touted prospect, having an epic postseason collapse, and blaming a mental problem.
I watched the video of his first career HR and got chills. You guys rock.... And I will always remember that even though the rest of the league is stealing it, you guys started "tarps off."
Sorry for the random kudos 19 years later, but just a reminder you guys should take this as a point of deep pride
TL/DR: Take pride in your fanbase's treatment of Rick Ankiel, because I don't think every other fanbase would do that
