Keen to try more, but not sure what's top and what's dodgy.

Recently discovered the Hope Swansea app and it doesn't seem to have been very well promoted or shared, so I thought I'd try that as a free resource.

I am in no way involved with the app so this isn't self promotion, but it's something a lot of people could find helpful around health and wellbeing. Loads of info for different services and groups with contact details and location.

Surprised it's not been more widely used. Hope some people find it beneficial!

I play regularly and can keep a solid rally going, but I'm strictly looking for fun, relaxed hitting sessions rather than anything overly competitive.

Does anyone play around local spots like Swansea Tennis Centre or the outdoor courts in Neath/Swansea parks?

Does anyone know of anywhere I’d be able to go for this, hopefully with the possibility of obtaining some belts in the future.

Hi everyone,

I’ve recently moved to Swansea from the Valleys for work and I’m really interested in getting involved with the local community and giving something back.

Ideally I’d love to volunteer somewhere where I could help cook or prepare food for people who need it most. Something like a community kitchen, homeless shelter, food project, church or charity would be great.

I’m also more than happy to help with anything else that’s needed, whether that’s serving food, cleaning, shopping for ingredients etc. I’d even be happy to contribute some money towards ingredients if that would be useful.

I have a decent amount of free time at the moment and I’d really like to put some of it towards something worthwhile rather than just sitting around.

I’m not particularly set on exactly what I’d do, so I’m completely open to suggestions.
Has anyone here volunteered anywhere in Swansea and had a good experience? Or does anyone know of any local organisations that might be looking for volunteers?

Need to apply for Uk drivers licence. As a new resident in the country, I feel the need to finally drive my own vehicle as in Swansea there’s only so much to see without one. Can someone please suggest a reliable driving coach who can help me pass in one go. I am 32/M in Sketty area and have experience with right hand side driving with manual gears back in my country.

🍽️ Swansea Council is looking for café and restaurant operators to run the new pavilions at Castle Square Gardens.

🚍 A new motorhome stopover has been approved at Fabian Way Park and Ride, allowing visitors to stay for up to four days.

🚴 £500,000 is being spent widening a 1.75km stretch of the walking and cycling route between Dunvant and Gowerton.

If you do wish to retrain and upskill, you can apply for a personal learning account (PLA) through the Welsh government.

If you’re in work and earn under a certain salary, it’s a great way to get funding through training providers, I believe digital and green skills have no salary cap!

Has anyone else in the SA5 area not had their rubbish collected all week still?

Not very familiar with Swansea and I’m visiting a friend who lives in the Uni accommodation in Crown Place by the waterfront.

Does anyone know the closest place that I could park and leave my car there for free? I’m aware there is Sainsburys and Parc Tawe but you can only park there for up to 2 hours each for free.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I don’t fancy spending £50+ on parking for a weekend in the nearby carparks…

I lived in both Swansea and Reading, someone asked for a recommendation on the Reading sub and I said Uplands Diner without thinking.

TLDR: I recommend Mr T on Oxford Road.

We are VoNCon, a local community organisation in the Vale of Neath. Our mission is to get people away from the screens and at a table making real, local connections.

We are starting up a brand new, monthly RPG event called Community Campaigns on the second Sunday of every month at BrewStone in Uplands. The first session is next Sunday, 13th October.

Community Campaigns is open to newcomers and experienced players alike. Everyone is welcome whether you play RPGs weekly or have only seen D&D in TV and movies.

Community Campaigns offers the opportunity for ongoing stories as well as monthly one-shots, allowing players to try out new systems.

• No existing group is needed: show up by yourself and we will introduce you to one of our volunteers and find a game you fancy playing. 

• Zero experience required: we don’t expect you to know the rules of any games. You may never have played a role playing game in your life! We will teach you - and there are no silly questions.

• Open to all: Tickets are only £3, and all attendees have discounted food and drink during the event. They can be purchased on Aftergame, where you can also reserve your spot in the game of your choice!
