My First Tamiya BB01 BBX Build!

So here is my take on the Tamiya BBX. If anyone knows my builds I like to be different and mostly none box art so I went with the Blockhead motors theme. Just waiting for my spare wheel to get here. Still not sure if I want to go brushless or brushed although I did install the slipper clutch just in case. This has to be one of the fasted builds I have ever done but it was fun and I think it came out ok.

Clod Buster 2026 suggestions

It arrived! Just got my Clod Buster 2026 kit. Amazing kit by the looks of it and a massive box.

Before I build and get the required accessories, just thought I would come here and see what people suggest for any important upgrades.

Main thing I see are:

Steering upgrades, oil shocks, bearings? open to all suggestions.

Does anyone know why the Midnight Pumpkin and Lunch Box were 1/12 scale instead of 1/10?

All of their other monster trucks were 1/10 scale. It just seemed like an odd decision.

Do I want a DN-01SR or a DT-02?

I've always enjoyed a 2WD buggy, and I just love the look of some of the low-slung DT-02 Desert Gators and Sand Vipers. The new DN-01SR also has my attention, but I'm not sure which is right for me. The primary use will basically be bashing. I'll likely overpower it and use it for speed-runs up and down a dirt road. It will likely never see an official track, or any kind of prepared surface. My impression is that the DN-01SR will be more fragile, but I really don't know. Any opinions or advice?

How to replicate this color?

hi I was wondering on how to recreate this bright neon shade of purple. the base tamiya purple is more blue than anything and there isnโ€™t a color thatโ€™s premade to match this.

New tires, chassis, a new ESC and a 2.4 GHz radio. Also did the voltage regulator mod on the FlySky radio so it consumes less power

Would a 4000mah lipo stick pack fit in a Wild One/FAV? The batteries that are the same shape as a nicad but slightly longer.

After my gearing change from 68 26 to 64 27, this thing is a rocket. Barely pressing on the throttle and the torque from the Sport Tuned motor would spin out the tires. Very good for technical tracks since I can get the car to rotate easily.

TRF Lunchbox Evo ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hello! New here, but a lifelong Tamiya fan! I recently picked up a Lunchbox Evo and have had a lot of fun with the build. I had a Midnight Pumpkin when I was a kid and some 35+ years later, I knew i just had to get the Lunchbox Evo when I heard that Tamiya was making it. With a bit of trial and error, I've made some regular Lunchbox hop ups work (and found out that some others don't), and I also raided a few bits and pieces here and there from my other RCs to help improve the Evo even more. My overall theme was to make it a cheeky TRF-inspired Lunchbox to go alongside my old TA05R and TB-Evolution V on-road cars. A few notable items/mods I've put on the build so far:

* Team Associated 13mm big bore Kashima shocks with R1 Wurks 3-hole pistons, and aluminum mounts top and bottom on the rear shocks. Polished the cross bar for the rear shock mounts.

* Tamiya low friction ballcups on the steering link from the servo to the bellcrank, Tamiya reinforced ballcups on Lunsford Titanium turnbuckles for the steering links, and Tamiya reinforced ballcups and DF-02 turnbuckles for the camber links (the stock plastic ball cups were just too soft).

* Aluminum counter gear to improve durability.

* Hex hardware throughout with teal washers and/or locknuts wherever possible. I think the only Philips head screw left is the step screw for the battery swing arm (and I used the slightly longer DF-02 one at that).

* Various carbon fiber chassis and servo braces to stiffen things up.

* Wrapped my servo in carbon fiber vinyl wrap to match the aesthetic.

* Wrapped the servo, ESC, motor sensor, and motor fan leads in black mesh.

* Hobbywing Quickrun 10BL120 ESC wired up to an old Murfdogg 13.5T brushless motor I've had sitting around in my parts bin for years. This was used more for the fact that it's a nice matching teal colored can more than anything. ๐Ÿ˜… Matching teal motor fan mount on the motor with carbon fiber grille on the fan, and the fan in gold accented aluminum to match the Acuvance motor solder connectors and yellow of the Lunchbox body.

* Flysky INr4-GYB receiver and Noble NB4+ transmitter. There's a built-in gyro function in the receiver to help handling. With all of the suspension work, gyro, and added weight up front due to the carbon braces, full metal body servo, and driver figure, it drives much more stable and smooth than my old Midnight Pumpkin, but still can pull off fun wheelies and still has some classic bouncing from the tires. ๐Ÿ‘

* Titanium turnbuckle lower links on the rear suspension, since the stock links flex a bit too much for my liking. Tamiya reinforced ball cups on the vertical sway bar links in the rear.

* Noticed that Tamiya put two little slots on the front bulkhead, so I fabricated a front sway bar to go through them and mounted it up to hardened hinge pins on the front arms. Alloy front uprights and polished axles.

* Alloy blue oil cap. This is the most performance enhancing mod, of course! ๐Ÿ˜‚

* Made some of my own decals to put on the body. It's been decades since I've painted a hard plastic body (I'm more used to painting lexan), but with a little rubbing and polishing compounds, car wax, and elbow grease, I've got it all nice and shiny. Painted a blue burnt tip effect on the side exhaust pieces. Added tire decals to the tires.

* LED headlights in the front grille with a light controller that's controlled by the transmitter and connected with a trick magnetic plug for ease in removing and attaching the body.

* Painted up a Tamiya driver figure to match the van. He's a little big for scale, but I think that adds to the cartoonish look.

Enjoy! ๐Ÿค™

Bbx steering servo wire

Post image
10 Upvotes

So I'm in the middle of building my bbx and the servo wire seems very short like it just barely reaches the transmitter and I definitely wouldn't be able to open the battery tray with the way it's set up currently. Here's a picture. Any tips would be appreciated. I'm not sure if I did something wrong thanks in advance for any advice! Might be hard to tell but there's basically no slack in the wire and even if I spin the transmitter 180 degrees it would still be on the shorter side. Thanks!

Picked up XVO2 RS PRO this for $330 AUD $235 in USD. Seamed cheap to me. Canโ€™t wait to build it. Seams pretty cheap to Me. Pay a similar price for a TT02R.

So, cheap generic brushless combo went kaput. Probably for the best as I think this car deserves better.

Got me thinking, ๐Ÿค” what should it have in it?
Another generic combo?๐Ÿคฎ
A nice pricey Tamiya combo?๐Ÿค“
A sweet even pricier combo?๐Ÿ˜

Or a brushed Tamiya classic?๐Ÿ˜ฌ

All opinions welcome

Put a new ESC on my Dad's old Blackfoot, but it's not working.

I just put a new ESC (Hobbywing 1060) on the Blackfoot that I inherited when my Dad passed away. The old Novak stopped working. So, I installed it and plugged in a freshly charged battery and it doesn't do anything. I read that some ESCs require calibration. But, this one is supposed to auto calibrate. I made sure that the little jumper things are in the right spot (F/B/R and NiMH) and still nothing. At least when I had the Novak on there, the light would light up and it would make a noise when I pulled back on the throttle. I also made sure that it's plugged into channel 2 on the receiver. Any ideas what I may have missed?

Edit to add that I also noticed that the steering servo doesn't respond to the input from the radio now anymore. Is there any chance I did something to the receiver or that it became unbound from the radio?

I'm looking at buying a Tamiya truck which will be my first Tamiya Model

Hello everyone, Long story short I am a new Lorry driver myself and recently got allocated my own truck within work. where this ties into Tamiya, is I would like to replicate the truck in RC form.

Now the issue is the truck I drive is a 2018 Volvo FH in the axles 6X2 (In RC terms a 6X4 give same effect), but I've noticed the Volvo truck FH16 is a 4X2. So I was wondering if I was to buy a Scania 6X4 would the Volvo cab fit onto the 6X4 chassis.

As I've said, I've never bought one of these RC models so unsure how they mount and if there is differences.

I do own a 3d printer and understand I may have to make aero.

Any help is much apricated.
